i dont see why people are arguing about who's better. they were both great 80s bands and perhaps the best of all time but their music was very different and there is no comparison. im just glad theyre both still around making music

Can't speak for DD as I know little about them, but DM have been a massive influence to so many artists/bands from so many genres and sub-genres. Take almost any talented songwriter from the nineties and ask them to name their top 10 influeneces. DM will pobably appear on 70 percent of them. When pressing artists on who they'd love to have remix their work, again, DM will appear a lot more often than you might imagine.

Depeche Mode has nothing to do with Duran Duran! DD will never come close to the musical depths DM reach again and again! Duran Duran is a washed up 80's band, Depeche Mode are living legends,to compare them to duran duran is an insult.

In the 80s, the piece of s* 'muscial critics' of the days were ALL trashing BOTH bands, because too special, not politically engaged enough too i guess, 'immature', etc (i heard all the possible bs on both); DM had some luck became kinda iconic in the 90s (great for them!)..not DD..don't be so stupid as those corporate s* brainwashing critics.. */)

@boleplissken I know I might be slightly biased, but Duran Duran are equally as good as Depeche Mode. I like DM and they have their own legacy but they are a different band with a completely different sound, so it's unfair to compare them to Duran Duran. Anyway, a band releasing a new album full of brand new songs under the guidance of super-producer Mark Ronson don't sound "washed up" to me.
