To be fair, you barely even tested The Graty; you didn't try to clean it, you didn't bang it like Vince claimed would help the cheese out, and you didn't test the finer blade. And to be fair to the Slap Chop and all similar products, they're only good for mincing, where you cut really small stuff even smaller. As for the over extended blades, Vince said an option for light garnishing was to cut in the cover and sprinkle with the cover.

With this fact and the image near the start in mind, it seems only logical the base of the cover doesn't quite reach the ring. Therefore, to use this feature, the blades have to go further than the ring. And to be fair to the Tester, if you make a large enough dinner, you aren't necessarily going to mix everything you mince into the same dish. Also, the caked up blades make it harder to successfully chop. And the assembly is most certainly an issue if it falls apart so easily.

Final ruling: a redo for The Graty is in order, and a more solid Slap Chop like product is effective for mincing. However, I feel the skill one would get from mincing with a regular knife is well worth the time these products would save.

recommendation: dry items such as cookies and nuts but can be used to dice tomatoes
