I cannot wait for the day i get that length! It's gorgeous! I'm glad you went to high heat. It's not good for our hair but I know my hair laughs at me if I use medium on it. How often do you wear your blow out?
Wow ur hair looks great can't wait til mine gets that length.... I am transitioning for the fifth time.... I m nt gonna let anyone else relax my hair....
I agree. The medium setting does not work for our (4c) hair. And it's because we have to use high heat, that I stay away from blow dryers unless I have an emergency and need to speed dry a braid set so I can get to sleep! Even then I don't completely dry it.
I also wanted to say that I've never heard of a product (except straight hair grease) that can weigh down our hair! Actually I'm looking for a product that WILL weigh it down. 4c hair is just too fly away! So if you find one, let me know.
@kameelean I try to stay away from blow drying as much as possible but I have to confess I did it last week because the hair style called for it. I doubt I'll find a product cause a sister is sticking to her shea butter mixed with oils :-D
oh girl..I have the same problem. My hair had only worked well when getting it pressed. I tried to get it flat ironed and It was slowly converting back to its natural state no matter how much product she put in it to weigh it down. Ugh...I have 4c hair as well.
@chrischeanda I just checked out some of longhairdontcare's videos. It doesn't look like she had 4c hair, but close. You should check out her length in recent videos! Let me know what you think.
thanks for this vid. ive got 4c hair and have been natural for eighteen months. every vid ive watched has made styling+maintaining natural hair seem so easy. i kept thinking ive been natural too long to still have to go through trial+error. im glad to know that even at your length, its okay to have moments of frustration. .sigh.
@tnsthedfo No problem :-D Trust it takes some effort, you're not alone. I'm happy for those ladies that can do their hair effortlessly but that's not the case for me.
I use to have the same thing happen when i tried to blowdry my hair...I never even understood how some could do it on cool...smh...ANYWHO...i found one queen who said it was better for her to blowdry on high for less time as opposed to using medium and taking longer...so thats wut ive been doing...hope this helps! Peace
I looove how thorough ur tutorials are...i have learned a lot, and eased my tension as well, esp regarding my hair shedding during detangling (i used to think there was something wrong.lol).
I love your hair, we have the exact type of hair (I am happy I found your channel)
I am dealing now with with extreme hair damage probably from an experiment with apple cider vinegar....I am desperate .Can you suggest something...Please...
@lisevalerieable See, you just helped me out cause I kinda wanted to try ACV on my hair but never got around to it, guess I'm not going to try it after all LOL. I hate to say this (and mind you, I'm no expert) but if you're saying extreme damage you might want to cut and start over. Or try to start using treatments for damaged hair (try that first) and I guess if you don't see a positive change then you might want to start over. I hope that helped you some.
@pinkrosesfly Ha ha ha, this is my favorite comment.... I didn't think of that until I saw your comment. You are definitely right, that's exactly what it looks like. I could have gotten a part in the Lion King :-D
lol hahaha the people at my job call me MAMA-MUFASA whenever I do a blowout. too funny. And I can't wait until my hair gets her length. Mine is as thick as hers but of course shorter. frustrating.
Im in need of a trim too i have knots as well...... Let me know how long your hair holds up before you start noticing the knots again plzzzz. I have 4 c hair as well and thats one of my most frustrating problems, and i dont hardly ever wear my hair out at all. Your hair looks great. Thanks for sharing your vids.
@nappilyevaafta Girl they started up like immediately, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong LOL. Don't get me wrong they're not horrible but I'm still getting them. This might sound gross but when I feel one & I'm not near a pair of scissors I put that strand in my mouth and slide the hair btw my top & bottom teeth and I cut the hair right at the knot instead of ripping it with my hands. Oh & I spit the hair out of course LOL :-D It is frustrating!
@chery818 Thanks so much for the reply back. I guess i'll trim and not be suprised if i continue to see single strands knots soon after doing so. Oh well i guess i'll have to accept them as a part of my life forever! LOL
we have such similar hair. I get ssks like crazy too, but despite yhem, I still get length, just like your hair. I try to trim only twice a year, but I snip those bad boys off when they get to be ridiculous.
@NEPH80 LOL I definitely went scissor happy, at one point I was cutting and said to myself "who cares, it'll grow back" LOL. It does feel bouncy, we'll see what happens after I wash it again.

@chery818 Yes. I've gotta get some shea butter!!! I believe it's a necessity. Do you use the yellow (waxy) or grainy white version?
