Actually Oksana Skorik (NOT Elle) is alive and this was non-fiction movie documenting Oksana's stey (and the other girls') at Perm Ballet School. It tells her story, not just any doncer, but her REL story. She is most wonderful dancer in the Mariinsky Ballet today. You should learn more about the film before you make another school film about it. Sorry if my english was not good. my cousin dosnot understand me...and i had to write mysef. ~Viktoriya (Виктория)
actually its good to excersice but if you wanna lose weight just eat a little less than you normally do because if you are overweight then it means you are eating an inappropriate amount of food, so you have to feel like ok i ate but feel just a little bit empty like your not full but ok, and when you get to your weight stop eating less and eat that same amount so you wont lose anymore weight, but excersice is good and eat plenty of food and eat breakfast
The text at the end gets something very wrong, unfortunately. Cataloging everything you eat and your weight is NOT a healthy thing for people with low body image to do - in fact, doing that is a behaviour many people with anorexia engage in. Please don't encourage listing your food as a way to help potential people with anorexia.
This is a totally distorted video created from someone else's work. A Beautiful Tragedy was created by David Kinsella and this is a butchered version.
Even then, this is not how all ballet is taught and is a story of one girl's struggle and difficulty in a very strict harsh school. It is the worst of stereotyping 97lbs at 5'5" is thin but does not = anorexic. I know many young girls in that range - and they eat and eat healthy. If they were undernourished, they could not survive the training.
@TheAudsj i agree with you about the documentary thing, but the girl (oksana i think) featured mainly in the documentary, actually did later develop anorexia, so in some way's you're both right. i think the maker of this video however, was just trying to portray a point, nothing else.
okay honestly this girl's name is not Elle. It's Oksana Skorik (or Oxsana Skoryk) and she's not dead. She's still alive and now dances for the Mariinsky Ballet in Russia. She's over 5'8" and 100 lbs.
@dancingartist66 WHAT?? FAT? are you serious? I'm 92 lbs and I'm 11 and I'm 5 ft. it all depends on your height. my weight is perfect for my height, so unless you're like 4ft tall, I wouldn't worry about it.
I do ballet. And you DO have to be skinny. But you dont need to be unhealthy skinny. Another reason ballerina's are so thin, is because they work A LOT. Plus, we have to suck in so that its not a bunch of fat jiggling. So it makes us seem skinnier then we really are. And we do eat, we wouldnt have the energy to dance if we didnt :)
She didn't die. She is still dancing. She became a ballerina. I wish she would eat more, but it is misleading to say that she actually died. And her name is actually Oksana.
This is so sad ): im a little concerned.... Im 13 and i only weigh 79 pounds. My doctor hasnt said anything about it and i eat good but im also short... 79 just seems so small though /:
I'm only like 93 lbs. and I'm 15. I'm 4 foot 9 inches tall...But I'm no in the underweight/anorexic cadagory. My doctors have been monatering my groath and weight. They never considered me unhealthy
I watched this Documentry on tv...As far as I rememeber, the girl dosnt die, she becomes a ballerina... and before anyone points out my bad spelling, yes, it is bad. get over it, ta.:)
This has nothing to do with the true story and Ballett ist not about "who is the thinest girl in the world". If you don't have any idea of the real movie and of Ballett, why aber you making a video like this? The real movie is about the hard world of Ballett, but Ballett dancer should have to do better things to do than looking, how thin they are. I danced many years and of hundret dancers I know, just one girl had an eating disorder. The picture of Ballett you give here...no. Sorry but no.
okay i dont like this becuase these were real girls in that documentary. They were at a ballet school in Russia and the documentary show how they struggle to reach perfection. You took those scenes and said it isn't a true story.
She is now my idol..... I'll learn from her. I have to be dedicated to become my dream.... A ballerina. But I also have to make sure I eat properly. Thank you Elle. x
That's really awful that you lied about something like that. She dances in Russia with a company and she's amazing! Please don't make up things like that

@Karen1andKaren2 The scenes are from documentary "A beautiful tragedy" that follows 15-year old Oksana Skorik (who is now all grown up and dances with Mariinsky ballet), you can find it here. I think she just put the scenes from the movie together and added some text in a couple of places where it mentions "Elle" and "eating disorders". She did add credits to David Kinzella there now, but not the details.
you don't know shit about eating disorders if eating the correct amounts of food a day was so easy they would do it, or keep a diary. It is all mental and stems from a deep set emotional problem which needs to be dealt with before the disorder can be addressed.
@MissesKira95 This is the fictional part. The actual scenes came from movie "The beautiful tragedy" that followed a Russian girl studying in Perm ballet school in Russia. The real girl in the movie is Oksana Skorik who is alive and well and is dancing with Mariinsky ballet. The "Elle" part is fiction.
Aerobic exercise doesn't raise metabolic rate much. Adding muscle mass, and to a lesser extent adding fat, raises metabolic rate. Muscle doesn't add much volume and usually causes a net drop in volume (bulk) because the loss of fat more than offsets the muscle bulk. If you're 5'5" and you try to drop below 110 lbs, there is no "healthy" way to achieve that. Even being 110 is a risky proposition for a teenage girl's bone development if they don't get regular periods.
@MsWastedGirl1 just because if you lose three pounds you will be in the underweight catagory doesnt mean your three pounds away from anorexia. Anorexia is at the bottom of the underweight catagory and anorexia isnt only a matter of weight some people are naturally skinny. Anorexia is a mental disorder not a catagory.
@hawaiianhorsegirl Yes but to be diagnosed with anorexia you have to be underweight, or less, yes?
Either way, its what I've been told from my doctor.
I agree! Anorexia is a mental disorder not a category. But as I've said before, doctors have to fit you into that category. Which then makes the disorder worsen.
@MsWastedGirl1 If you're 3lbs above the 'underweight' category and then lose 3 lbs you will, duh, not be classified as anorexic -.- Please educate yourself on the subject of this illness and then speak. Duh...
@elliealart Why is everyone being such a bitch about this? Since posting my comment and reading this one, I've been diagnosed with Anorexia purge type. Wanna comment back now? Go ahead.
@MsWastedGirl1 Duh... one of clinical criteria to diagnose anorexia is that the patient had lost over 25% of their body mass during a short time period. But, hell, anyone could suffer from anorexia and weight doesn't mean almost anything at all in this subject! I also know a thing or two about it, because I've also been suffering from this outrageous illness for over four years now. And God, I'm not going to whine about how low my weight is, because it purely doesn't matter. Uhh...
@elliealart I know that, i know. Honestly. My only point is that yeah, anyone could be suffering from Anorexia, I don't know where you live, but I live in the UK and around here Doctors are very strict about diagnosing 'just anyone' with anorexia. There's someone pretty good on Youtube called Magicalcharlotte dont know if you watch her but she didn't get diagnosed for a while, like me, because the NHS are shit. Anyways, good luck
@MsWastedGirl1 Yeah, I get what you mean, it's just... it sounded as if you didn't honestly know a thing, you know. I haven't seen any of her videos, but thanks for telling me. I'll take a look. Good luck to you too.
she is still alive... her name is not Elle... this is not a true story... I met her this last year... she is going to dance Odette/Odile at the Kirov...
holy crap! im 5'2" and 102 lbs and i dont have boobs or hips or anything! how on earth was she 5'5" and 80 lbs!? especially with the amount of muscle mass ballerinas have...i would know, i'm a dancer
@BlurryAudio don't say that if u feel healthy u r I feel healthy and weigh 165 pounds and I'm only 12 I run every day some people are just born that way and u are at a very average weight
i'm older than she was, shorter than she was, and i weigh more than she does. i wish i could have helped her and just given her a hug and say it's gonna be okay :'(
That is seriously not an unhealthy weight! Im not saying its too heavy Im just saying that is not out of the realm of possibility naturally. Im 16 years old 5'9" and I weigh about 96 lbs. I dont try to be that weight I just am. No one would die from being in the 80s at 5'5". If you are going to create a fictitious story and claim its true, at least make the story believable, furthermore, don't create the story using clips from a known documentary whose star is currently dancing with the Kirov.
@tararegs With height of 5'5'' and weight of 81.5lbs her BMI was 13.6 which means serious underweight and can cause heart failure, heart attack, and death.
@tararegs that might be true but to that you also have to add the extreme pressure she was put under and how often she had to train her body which got her even more exhausted. So the weight alone probably didn't kill her but rather that she didn't do anything to rest her body
@tararegs for you it might not be unhealthy. I'm 5'3" and 97lbs would hurt me because for me it's unhealthy. If I drop under 109 lbs I start getting really sick and I have a small structure, so it varies immensely from person to person. Some of what you said is very very true, some of it is also only true for some people.
@tararegs I am 22, 5'8" and 130 lbs. I was 90 lbs for five years (age 13-17) until I was a jr. in high school. Because of my fast metabolism and being hypoglycemic, I was never able to gain weight. I agree with you a hundred percent. :)
i no its true and wat ballets like buts its twisted wen ppl see movies about ballet its all happy an magical ballet shouldnt be so harsh :L its the total oppasite of a little girls dreams :(
This sounds like my dance school.. all the girls there look like Elle... and then theres me, old fatty in the corner whos turnout is absolutely shocking :( I'll never be a ballet dancer.
@TweetaNova Don't say that. I'm telling you, don't say it. You're not fat. You are absolutely NOT fat. I'm sorry if I sound like a parent, or something. But I just want to tell you that ballet is truly danced with the HEART. If people call you fat, SCREW THEM. You will dance, and you will become a ballerina. I know it.

@tararegs im a 12 year old, but im a dude. and i way 110 pounds. i feel so fat. i want to die.
BlurryAudio 5 months ago
@BlurryAudio You're not fat, and I hope you can find someone to talk to. Please don't say you want to die.
trecoolsrebelrocker 4 months ago
@tararegs that might be true but to that you also have to add the extreme pressure she was put under and how often she had to train her body which got her even more exhausted. So the weight alone probably didn't kill her but rather that she didn't do anything to rest her body
xofranziiixo 4 months ago
@tararegs for you it might not be unhealthy. I'm 5'3" and 97lbs would hurt me because for me it's unhealthy. If I drop under 109 lbs I start getting really sick and I have a small structure, so it varies immensely from person to person. Some of what you said is very very true, some of it is also only true for some people.
MegaCupcakesRule 4 months ago
@tararegs I am 22, 5'8" and 130 lbs. I was 90 lbs for five years (age 13-17) until I was a jr. in high school. Because of my fast metabolism and being hypoglycemic, I was never able to gain weight. I agree with you a hundred percent. :)

i no its true and wat ballets like buts its twisted wen ppl see movies about ballet its all happy an magical ballet shouldnt be so harsh :L its the total oppasite of a little girls dreams :(
CuteyAlphaKate 6 months ago
This sounds like my dance school.. all the girls there look like Elle... and then theres me, old fatty in the corner whos turnout is absolutely shocking :( I'll never be a ballet dancer.
TweetaNova 9 months ago
@TweetaNova Don't say that. I'm telling you, don't say it. You're not fat. You are absolutely NOT fat. I'm sorry if I sound like a parent, or something. But I just want to tell you that ballet is truly danced with the HEART. If people call you fat, SCREW THEM. You will dance, and you will become a ballerina. I know it.
SweetSirendipity 8 months ago
