What's the difference between the regular game, xteme legends, and empires? are they like add-ons or expands on the story? i've only played Dynasty Warriors 4 and it's a lot to handle when there's like 3 different games for either 3,4, or 5.

Depends on the scenario, if Zhang Liao was invading his lords territory then he would fight to the death. Zhang Liao on the other hand was the leader of the the Five Tiger Generals of Wei, and was the only one that was said to be and equal for the warriors of Shu. So it would probably be a fair fight, I would just grab some popcorn and enjoy, lol!

Extreme legends has two modes

1 mode you create a character and work his away up to a poweful warrior

The other mode is Destiny mode where you pick a character and play his/her musuo mode but with added content and battles

Empires was one of my all time favorite games. I loved the different challenges you could be presented with in different times during China's history. Custom games were also tons of fun. I love picking one of the smaller regions and fighting my way to the top. This is an epic game indeed. I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the fight scenes as well as the strategy. You will get a wonderful mix of both.

Xtreme Legends is the expansion pack to a Dynasty Warrior Game, coordinated with a number (e.g Dynasty Warriors 3, and DW 3 Xtreme Legends). It usually has new stages, new features, but never new characters. Empires is the conquest expansion to any Dynasty Warriors Game (except 1,2,@ 3) where you create your own story of the three kingdoms era through any famous warlord of that age. A regular Dynasty Warriors Game however is just the normal game with new features every numerical sequal.

In one of Koei's other games, Kessen 2, you find out that they once fought over a woman, now Guan Yu's wife. Maybe it was Zhang Liao's wife, I cannot remember. Anyhow, they duel fiercely yet refuse to kill one another, and in the end Zhang Liao lets Guan Yu win a duel. Maybe the other way around. I need to get my facts straight.

Basically, they're friends, but they duel as fiercely as ever, but they just don't kill one another.

Zhuge Liang and Sima Yi are the only 2 considered strategists. Lu Xun, Zhou Yu and everyone else are minor strategists, since they didnt continuously strategize(sp?) like Zhuge and Sima.

I easily liked Empires more than Xtreme Legends, but it depends on the person. Empires was very good if you are interested in creating your own forces with the official and CAW characters, but Xtreme Legends is good if you just want some new ways to play DW like Xtreme Mode and Destiny Mode, as well as the new Legend Modes.

Yes, Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a series that is up to its 11th game. If you prefer action games, then Empires is for you. RotK is much more of a thinking and planning game. I personally love them both, though. ^^ I recommend it to anyone who has the patience for those kinds of games.

Have you ever played Romance of the Three Kingdoms? It's a little bit like that, but on a smaller scale. You get a map of China that's divided into 24 (I think) provinces. Different armies occupy different parts, and employ strategies such as alliances, soldier recruitment, ect. When your army attacks or is invaded, it goes into a standard DW battle. If you win, the territory is yours. You should check out GameSpy or another site for a better review if you want. Hope that helps. ^^

DW5 Empires also has some upgrades from 4 Empires though don't forget. Instead of only getting 4 strategies per turn you can choose from each one or ask an officer to pick. You can even perform tactics like ambushes or poison your enemy army in combat OR give your officers orders while in a battle. Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires gives you far more control and a much better experience.
