  • I really wouldn't recommend securing anything with a clove hitch for more than a few minutes; there's an indeterminable amount of slip before the knot grips and if like at my club you're on moving water with swell from passing vessels then the knot will easily wriggle itself loose and you'll lose your boat! We've never had to buy a fender as we just pick up all the ones washed downriver from people who tie them on with clove hitches. Even get a few life rings the same way too!

  • fantastic

  • You can till this guy spends more time on a boat than he does in the woods.

  • Nice! I learned something today.

  • This was very helpful for me. Thanks very much.

  • I really enjoyed this tutorial to the point that I decided to sub to your channel. You're a gifted teacher and do a good job providing instruction. Absolutely great job and very well done. I'll even let it slide that you're Canadian......j/k!

  • My understanding of a sheet bend is that the ends should both come out the same side. Will have to get Ashley's book of knots out to check.

  • Never use a clove hitch to tie a horse. A quick release only , please.

  • Thanks! I'll add a quick release version of the clove hitch to my video on Hitches later this year.
