  • I was going to tell you these pictures should be in HD, but some how it is offering a more cohesive combination with this talented music. They become more comforting when i use my imagination. Also, im high.

  • I love this song!!

  • These pretzels are making me thirsty...

  • Thank you so much for posting this! So pretty!

  • Is there anywhere to get a banjo tab for this, or anyone have it worked out? It sounds like its in C but I don't know the changes or anything

  • i love this

  • Thier legit

  • @xXSTILLBLAZINXx They're

  • When I saw the thumbnail of this video I thought it was going to be an Iron Horse tribute to Band Of Horses. That would be sweet!

  • this cover really isnt that bad...im impressed

  • good song like a lot wishing a good day to all

  • nice to hear modest mouse actually make music for once

  • @KevinCarbonara Uhm...what..

  • this song is a breed of its own. I think it fits the lyrics extremely well...maybe better than MM. Trailer Trash just has a southern aura around it, and Iron Horse captures it so well.

  • I like modest mouse but I wasn't a fan of this song...until i heard this cover.

  • @aurhys I dunno man, this sounds so much different then Isaac's that it almost makes it better due to the fact that it has Isaac's amazing lyrics with a brand new sound.

They're both amazing bands, but covers that redefine the song are endlessly better than seeing how close you can get to sounding the same.

  • GOD DAMN I am such a jerk. They're just words, they can't hurt you

  • @LightK44 Just because they choose to sing it to fit the style of music does not mean that they are 'afraid' of the words.

  • imo these covers are great, but the vocals are what turn me off. its a little too true to the bluegrass genre for my taste. and i like bluegrass. I just dont think the vocal style works well with modest mouse. everything else is terrific.

  • @naota172 listen to their cover of The Marshal Tucker Band's "Fire On The Mountain" . They nail it pretty well.

  • 96,000th view of this awesome song. Great upload!

  • WOW. Moudest mouse?!?! Lovin' the country feel

  • Honestly, i like Iron Horse doing modest mouse songs more than i like Modest Mouse doing modest mouse songs

  • im by far one the BIGGEST modest mouse fans... i have every cd and every ep they've ever made and i usually hate covers... but i have to give it to these guys... AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME job on these songs!

  • "hey!!" my favorite pickin album of covers!

  • good work! :D

  • Omg. Okay listen. Do a heavy wake and bake and watch this shit before school, omg, idk if I can function in like, 30 minutes..

  • Anyone heard of the band Delta Spirit?

    CHECK EM OUT!

  • @danslaughter well he would throw up at just about anytime, he's a heroin addict. But I think he would dig it. How many bands you got covering you? I think he'd be flattered.

  • @deathcouch Isaac isn't a heroin addict. He experimented with heroin, and may of been addicted at sometime, but with a wife and child I don't think he's looking for a good 'ole fix of heroin

  • This is awesome thanks, iron horse modest mouse and Ugly Casanova all are awesome.

  • Just discovered these guys! Bluegrass rules! And that's coming from a guy in his 20's living in CA.

Oh yeah, i did grow up in western Ma though : )

  • kewl that they're redoing my absolutely fave band of all-time. seriously, i've heard every album they've ever put out.

  • This song is spot-on with my life....

I dropped out of high-school, and I stay in a trailer park on the weekends during the year until winter comes along...

  • i think isaac brock would throw up if he heard this. i did.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. banjo

  • That banjo roll is amazing; makes this way better than the original.

  • I wouldn't say that they completely missed the point. They made their own point. In this cover, the arrangement and the feel try to (imo) to convey the sense that there is nothing wrong with that style of life and that they are proud of it. Nothing wrong with that. The MM original is completely different because Isaac was there, and wanted to escape it. He put his sense of disillusion and despair at his inability to leave that life behind into the MM version. That's why it's so depressing.

  • sorry the guitar sounds good and they are talented but the vocals completely ruin the song. They completely missed the point clearly, this is not a happy song, the lonesome crowded west is a desperate album filled with rage and does not deserve to be censored by some country poser.

  • pretty close... iron horse is the shit. MM still #1 though.

  • great upload, i stumbled across it when i was lookin for music to down load on my drive to nor cal from Chicago. i am super excited now thanks a lot

  • I love this version. It is great.

  • I'm a huge modest mouse fan, and while I would rather listen to the modest mouse version I just gotta say THIS SHIT IS AWESOME! lol

  • the greatest band

  • The Iron Horse cover album of Modest Mouse is the BEST album I've ever heard... Period. So good go out and buy it, it's completely worth paying for.

  • yeah i like this version way better its like they make it sound sincere which is a funny thing i guess to think that maybe they make it sound like a sad song which i guess i could be to someone

  • "Oh man I hope I can pass high school means nothing" "Oh man I am such a jerk" because hicks dont damn god.

  • @imjohnandyouare

Yea, I was thinking that too. I hate that. It takes some of the power from it.

  • Where is the picture from at 2:26? I'm biking through Oregon / Northern California in about two weeks. Would really love to stop at a waterfall like that.

  • this one is a little trailer-trashier that the original, not necessarily bad though

  • nice twist on MM. sick man

  • My fav Iron Horse cover.

Never been out west,Looks very beautiful there

And old crow is very good .=)

  • wonderful cover. convey's a whole new sense of emotion and depth while still conveying the original sense of the song, just as a proper cover should

  • does anyone know how to find the original of this?

  • why cant i find the original on youtube?

  • I love this so much.

It's a little more up beat than the original.

  • awsome pics

  • fuckin brilliant

  • Well...I wanted to hear modest mouse. But now I don't want to hear anything else.

    Great job.

  • @dillonellis

    Same here.

  • one 100th as good as the original. >:/

  • Love it.

  • I could show this to some of my country-loving friends and they would never guess that Modest Mouse had originally done it. The lyrics even fit the tear-in-my-beer makeover. That's not a good or bad thing; just saying.

But I do love getting people to unwittingly love a song by a band they "hate." (Unfortunately, many of friends have no taste for Modest Mouse...)

  • @WhoaParrot Haha, Cheers to that!

  • @WhoaParrot AMEN :)

  • @WhoaParrot

Fukken serious? Modest Mouse is such a great band though.

  • Thanks very much for posting this.

  • thank you for commenting on this

  • This version is waaaay too up beat for the lyrics. Don't get me wrong, they did a great job performing the song; but the lyrics just sound condescending when sung with a happy voice.

  • i agree with you, but its the only studio quality version of this song i can get on here. fucking WMG has everything else blocked

  • dinosaurs will die

  • I came across this band/song before I ever really listened to Modest Mouse. This version will always be my favorite. Thanks for posting it!!

  • great stuff but still doesnt compare to Isaac....not even close

  • @aurhys too true

  • @aurhys

i think its better than the original.

  • @aurhys

Agreed to a degree. I think that Iron Horse, rather than copying Modest Mouse, changed the shit outta the song and made it their own in a way. I still think Modest Mouse is better, but i have a lot of respect for these guys.

  • Doesn't hold the same emotional power for me without some little things, like taking the god damn out of I'm such a jerk. Loses that balance of desperation and hopelessness that issac's crashy guitar complements so well. And the bass, kind of pushing it forward.. fuck. So good.

Certainly Iron's not going for the same thing, modest mouse has that feeling down already. But it just feels like it doesn't fit well in the blue grass, talented as these guys are.

    There's my unasked for opinion.

  • Just cant get enough of these guys. And this song very nice. Defiantly makes me want to learn the mandolin.

  • These guys are great. Love all their stuff.

You listen to Old Crow Medicine Show at all?

  • Love Old Crow

  • Yeah they are great band. Gillian Welch has some nice live vids on here. "Caleb Myer"and "Miss Ohio" live, oh also there's a great vid of Old Crow on the Marty Stuart Show. Just type in Old Crow Marty Stuart. Think you might like one of the 3 lol. I got into bluegrass about the time the " O' Brother Where Art Thou" soundtrack came out. Although I remember listening to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band when I was real young.

Thanks For The Great Post Man

  • @jezx21

    HELL YEAH!

    :)

  • Holy shit this is an awesome cover! 5s

  • I love this, great job.

  • Were some of these pictures from Jedidiah Smith campground? near crescent city

  • yep

  • @bradhallacy

seriously have sent this to my relatives whom I used to camp with in Jedidiah :)

isn't it crazy how 1 single video on youtube can touch or be viewed by such a variety of people?

Like i still remember a year ago posting my question if that's where you got the pictures lol

  • @Assaultpredator love that area! stout grove reminds me every time just how unimportant humans are.

  • @bluebirdbus420

Favorite camp ground I have ever been to.

As a younger child my family would drive up to Jedidiah Smith to meet all our Oregonian relatives for week long camp trip.

Have you kayaked (inflatable) down the Smith River? I also did a fishing trip on it during a different time of the year.

So... many... memories. I used to just ride my bike around the entire camp ground with my cousin. Literally the entire time. The foot bridge into Stout Grove? Ya, we swam under that all day.

  • @Assaultpredator never kayaked it but have spent the last 10 yrs traveling up and down the west coast in a bus, and always made a point of stoping and doing a bit of hiking in that spot. If u can believe it i have driven my 35ft bluebird through the park, talk about cutting it close on that 1 lane road.

  • @bluebirdbus420

    Haha!!

So great to know people have seen the same beauty multiple times and appreciate it just as much!

I know I will keep the memories from just a child seeing that place for my entire life, I cannot wait to return.

  • if you don't like bluegrass you won't like this

  • it's alright; nothing like modest mouse.

  • It's not supposed to be.

  • it alright cover, but, it not the same when isacc sings it you can actual feal it. Everyhting he sings about is about him and u can jsut feal it

  • wow i think he did top brock

  • nope

  • you sir are a idiot

  • this works. and its real.

  • Great cover by iron horse!! love modest mouse and i love bluegrass for those who don't like the singing, its a blue grass cover... he is singing! pictures make me miss home i live in tucson but grew up in williams 30 min from the oregon coast the forests there are magical

  • Both versions are very good, Iron Horse is very talented. Its not ment to be a direct cover, its a diffrent take on this track. Very well done in its own right.

  • i went to oregon a few summers back and drove to the red woods...i want to go back so bad...and its really funny cause on the drive my brother was like you got to hear this cd..and it was picking on modest mouse

  • Nice pictures and cool song selection. I'm glad to hear this take on one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing.

  • awsome just awsome

  • came here looking for shots of iron horse mountain bikes...but this was a pleasant surprise! well done.

  • I think they actually topped Brock here! Amazing!!!

  • Wow, great video, but hate this version of this song. One of my favorite songs of all time done so poorly. Anyway love Oregon, grew up in Eugene myself.

  • I understand that you aren't into Bluegrass, but to say that the song is, "done so poorly" is inaccurate. It's actually done quite well, you just don't like Bluegrass, which I can respect.

  • I live and love in Humboldt County, and thanks for posting this up. I actually like this version a million times better then the original. The banjos work so damn well with this track...

    Peas.

  • I love the original, and I think this version may be even better.

  • yah, more iron horse/modest mouse please!

  • mhm.. :)

they did make a tribute album you know ^^

  • Album = Pickin on Modest Mouse. It has ten great tracks.

  • this version might just top the original.

  • By the way, is that Mt. Lassen at 1:00? I guess it could be Mt. Hood, too.

  • Hey man, I'm convinced a bluegrass/folk version of pretty much any song can be done. I'm sure I could think of a few to try out if you want.

Man, I miss Humboldt right now...
