An extremly easy way to do this battle is with the cannon arm, it does so much damage! I remember when I used to play the cannon would eat his life away in like 4-5 shots.
It's funny how he is not thankful he survived the explosion seeing as how the servbots did'nt and he was in the center of it, rather he is more concered how much money was burned along with the machine.
An alternate strategy to jumping onto him is to get the Powered Buster from the short ruins in the area just before the boss fight, and upgrade its energy and attack a couple levels (it's inexpensive to do so). This will destroy its treads quicker and allow you to shoot into his hatch from the cliff, so you don't have to worry about leaping onto him and getting knocked off by the hands.
Destroy its treds.....you fuckin serious?! I had an issue with this damn thing the first time I played this game! I never knew you could destory it's treds! This is like the fucking bouncy thing at tha tone part of the carnival board in Sonic 3.....
i kicked ass at this game.. the boss battles were EPIC... Theres something about being able to jump onto a boss and then blow the crap out of him... satisfaction!!

This is an awesome fight, but it's even cooler if you get yourself the Powered Buster before you head into it. :) Such excellent range and firepower.
