this version is ok, but it definitely isn't better than Diana Ross's version or the original movie version. Both of theirs had a child like simplicity that made it feel and sound like a story book being told to a child, and yet garnering sincere emotion from adults as well. Tina is a legend & icon & this version is classic Tina, but it just doesn't fit this song for me. I can hear Diana's version and the original movie version over and over again.
I've listened to this song as sang in various languages and by various people, and I can saftly say that it amazes me how it can be turned in so many different directions and yet still come out so beautiful and so powerful.
I think she does a good job but i like the original version better but at the same time lion king was my favorite movie when i was a kid so maybe the first version is just more natural to me
Way more powerful, way more emotional and as a result far better than the original. Suits the lyrics of the song better. I love the Musical's version in London mind....
Yeah, this version's a lot more powerful. The other one was a disappointment to me when Lion King 2 first came out....if they had done it like this, I would've had no complaints.
Both Diana and Tina are icons don't hate on either one. They are both great versions.

The guitar and drums in the background killed the whole spirituality of the song.. It would've been amazing without it. Just saying.
