I'm a nursing student in Australia, It really pisses me off is that the course is intefering with my Alchoholism. No1 Biomedical works, its efficient. Its irritating to hear about "holistic" bullshit whan its education not EC. I wont a wnak now bye. Ps r all Americans mad, stupid, or brilliant.
hi i am at a community college now for about 2 and half years doing my preps for a rn, but i am confused about whether i should stay at the community college and get my a.s in nursing or just go for the big fish and finish my preps at the community college and transfer to my university and get my b.s.n? help please anyone!!!
@PregnantWhaleOnE we had 24 hours of actual class a week, 12 hours is what the 'class' was. Like in terms of 3, 4, etc that the college goes by for credit
Hi Heather! Thanks for making these videos! =o) I'm currently in SELU in Louisiana and am transferring to MDC in FL where I've done about 90% of my pre-reqs. After I take college algebra and statistics and repeat a couple science courses I made C's in, I will be applying to different Nursing schools in FL!
I've been in college for a long time.. (a while without knowing my major- then decided but had a tough journey making it happen) I'm really determined to finish my course and become a Nurse with my BSN. What your best advice in comparing Nursing school programs? I'm curious, what Nursing school are you going to? It sounds like a good one. Thanks again, Take care!
Love your videos! Keep posting them! I subscribed after watching the first one :). Question: how do you get viewers? I just posted my first nursing student video and I'm wondering how to get it out there? I start school in Sept and I'm totally excited too. Thanks for doing this. You inspired me. :)
@spaceofgrace I'm sure Heather can answer better than I can- btu I think the tag words you use help a lot... for example... I found Heathers videos by searching nursing student vlogs... the more tag words you have the more people will find you through searches!
@spaceofgrace Thank you! As sclyons said, tagging is the only thing I know of. I'm sure you can kind of post your link/channel on facebook or something of that nature to get the word out but all I've done is just the tags :)
Don't worry, the degree is totally useless today. Nobody will hire a new grad and the market is flooded with new grads and "stale grads". Better start thinking of a career change because your job will be filled by a filipino. RN--BSN=useless degree. Google "RN New Grad no jobs" to see what I mean.

I also am starting nursing this August 2010 at NMSU Carlsbad, NM... It took me 3 years to do all my pre-reqs and pass the required testing, but I finally made it and I am super excited and a nervous wreck lol. We are having to do dosage and calculation prep before we start in august among a ton of other things to prepare. This fall semester we start out with medication dosage calc, physical assessment, and nursing theory and practice. I am not sure when we start our clinicals. Anyhow good luck
hi heather! i'm glad i found your videos. i was actually at an advisor's office just yesterday afternoon trying to get some info on nursing school. i've applied for financial aid, but without it i just won't be able to do this like at all. i'm just so clueless. i graduated high school in 2004 and haven't stepped foot in a classroom since. could u possibly refer me to some very basic info on how college even works? lol any help u can give me i'd sooo appreciate! :)
I start Uni in the fall. Don't get into clinicals til second semester of sophomore year. So glad to see so many people are getting into nursing! Keep up posting the videos :)
Hey, nice vid. I start nursing school in the fall as well. My classes are a bit different, they include fundamentals of nursing, which appears to be a combination of all of your classes, proffesional development, and pharmacology. I didn't think nursing programs differed this much. Well good luck.
@docasd thank you, good luck as well! we had to take pharmacology as a pre req at my school, though i know we will use it and continue to learn more about it as nursing school progresses.
We have 15 hours clinical and 6 hours lecture. First 3 weeks are in classroom clinical and then we start our off site clinicals. I dont know the breakdown of lecture hours yet- we have our orientation on July 21st. Cant wait! Love the videos- its nice to know we're all in this together in one way or another!
@sclyons34 I'm still waiting on my financial aide but we have about 9 required and no recommended yet, i believe we get that list at orientation! I have two books that I know on my own I will be buying that are just extra help books and I'll post them in my next vid :)
@heatherheartsnursing I had orientation today. Turns out the 20 texts (12 required and 8 recommended) are for the entire program (4 semesters)... so I guess thats not so bad! Orientation went well- they basically just said your life is theirs for the next 2 years- haha! Looking forward to your opinions on your orientation!
I would highly recommend buying your textbooks online, if you know your programs text ISBN numbers. You'll save a good deal of money. I had 12 books for my first semester, with one optional.
@SamGVCC Thanks! Luckily I've completed 2 semesters since this post and I am pretty caught up on books. Not many more I have to buy! I did end up buying many books online! :-)
