ikuhara, utena's director, always wanted some yuri between utena and anthy, but the mangaka didn't want to, the anime has yuri subtext, but in the movie he did what he really want to, utena and anthy like a real couple at the end... I've never said that utena is lesbian, i said she bi(sorry for my poor english u.u)

Anthy lets her hair down as the end gets closer and I suppose this could be considered a second season, though the entire series is divided into four parts: the movie, The Rose Collection, The Black Rose Saga, and the Apoclypse Saga. I hope that helped.

Hells666singer, actually the four parts are these: Student Council Saga (Seitokaihen, episodes 1-13), Black Rose Saga (Kurobarahen, eps 14-24), Akio Ōtori Saga (Ōtori Akio -hen, eps 25-33) and Apocalypse Saga (Mokushirokuhen, eps 34-39). The movie is just a teenage-style interpretation of the series.

Utena isn't a manga adaption. The director of the anime is credited with being the creator of the franchise. It started out as an anime concept first and split into a manga, that was released first. Few things in Utena are overt so you can interpret how you wish to. It took me years to accept that Akio and Touga were doing it together.

Utena is a yuri story. For the TV series, Ikuhara had to keep it subtle because Chiho Saito (the manga artist) threatened to quit if he made Utena and Anthy overt lovers. However, the manga was finished by the time the movie came out, and he went all out. I suggest you see it if you have any doubts.

I don't really consider Utena yuri in the least bit. It barely borders on shoujo-ai even, I'd say. I mean, there are a couple moments and scenes, but most of the time Utena and Anthy are just close friends, Utena more-so protects Anthy as opposed to loving her. The movie is arguably more on the shoujo-ai side, but that's a whole other subject.

God I love this series. I need to rewatch it.

I was hoping someone else would make note of this earlier, but since no has...this song isn't actually performed by Kawakami Tomoko (Utena's voice actress). It is sung by Kamiya Maki, who was hired for the job after director Ikuhara Kunihiko heard her vocals on a CD she made with a band she once belonged to.
