If you really want to lose weight weight... you must push yourself. An intense workout for this machine could be 35 minutes on resistance 10 or 11. Keep your rpm at 80+ and you will burn 600 calories. Then continue on to the weights.

how does the treadmill really show you how many calories burned and is it really accurate? i got on one machine and after an hour it said i burned 300 calories then another machine said i burned 2000 calories for the same exact time on a different treadmill! how is this possible?
@traceymallard there could posstibly be a diffrent incline on the diffrent treadmills. Maybe one is more uphill, that helps you burn more! It's not exactly accurate, it's just an estimate really. But not much of a diffrence.
my thighs hur so much doing this machine and ive only just started using it! i tried the treadmill because no matter how fast i go i dont feel that burning muscle sensation in my thighs like bicycling and elliptical machine causes and i cant stand it! is this normal form this machine or is it just me?

@DanielBK13 the elliptical, cuz u burn more calories that way and lose weight faster, i am fit but i also had a bit of weight to lose (about 2 pounds) and i just ran for about 30 mins 6 days a week, 6 days of training and 1 day rest, i usually take a rest on sunday, and i lost my 2 pounds in only 1 week, but i kept on doing it to avoid gaining the weight again, hope this helps ;)

This is pretty bad advice. Weight/resistance training helps to heighten your resting metabolism and allow you to continue to burn calories even after you've left the gym. A program that combines cardio with weight training will definitely help you meet your weight loss goals much faster than cardio alone. Please don't abandon the weights!
I am recovering from an injury and am having difficulty using the treadmill (problems with impact on knees). However, I just started using the elliptical for the first time and enjoy it. I am pushing myself very hard and no impact on my knees! It tells me that after 30 min, I am burning over 350 calories (weigh 210). Is this accurate? I am using very light resistance, but am pushing hard! Thank you.
