  • this little box is a wonder you guys, I got mine a few months ago, still holding good, no problems with it what so ever. I even tested it on 3 different monitors. A CRT monitor can handle it great, no problems, same with lcd monitors. Aspect ratio doesnt matter, as long as it has a VGA input, the VGA BOX will work. I do have to say, the turning to black part is real, and it depends on the monitor. I had a 1280x1024 lcd monitor and it did that, but only once every 5 minutes. Depends but its great

  • does it work if my screen doesnt support hdcp ?

  • I tried using it on samsung sn 933 plus. It couldnt work at 1080p & i. Even 720p.

The monitor starts displaying the message. Not optimum resolution. The monitor can go max 1360x768 though. But when its playing ps3 through the xcm vga box. everything is blurry and stretched.

  • can it also capture ps3 footage?

  • Can you record footage using a capture card AND use XCM Mega Cool Box at the same time?

  • will this work on my lcd monitor i dont have hdcp 19 widescreen please guyts help me

  • but if you connect your hdmi cable to dvi port you wont be able to record your gameplay....jus saying

  • So how is the quality compared to a direct VGA connection? I'm on a 19" monitor and want a simpler way of connecting both my 360 and PS3 without having to unplug shit constantly. Will I notice a drop in clarity?

  • I have the xbox360 i cenge on ps3 ??

  • Great device.. but still no BluRay movies.. only on HDMI connection... unless you get the HD fury

  • Actually, for some reason I was able to play BluRay movies with the Mayflash Component>VGA cable. Tried a couple and they all worked fine

  • My TV doesn't support progressive scan resolutions so I basically had to set them without seeing anything. Monitors doesn't support interlaced.

  • I Have 42 inch philips lcd and it looks amazing with 1080p

  • if your monitor or tv displays at 1080p but the inputs do not support it then set the resolution to 1080i because then all the tv or monitor has to do is de-interlase and not upscale the image

  • ps3 is kanker kanker kanker kanker kankerr

  • Thanks for the vid. Will this output a 720p only ps3 game (meaning it does not have 1080p support) to my hdtvs native 1080p?

Basically... does it upscale 720p to 1080p, does it just spoof the display to think it's a 1080p source, or what exactly is this thing doing?

    Thanks!

  • Hey retard. I already have a 1080p set. If you knew anything whatsoever you'd know that the PS3 doesn't upscale 720p titles to 1080p. Some games have the option but not many, which leaves it to the tv to scale it to it's native 1080p resolution, resulting in greater gaming lag. If the device upscales the tv won't have to, meaning greatly reduced lag.

Hey retard, stop thinking you know everything because obviously you know little to nothing. Off to bed now little one - with no supper. Tut Tut.

  • @d3adliner You can actually get the ps3 to upscale games to 1080p if you want to, even if the game is only 720p native. Just go to Display settings, then set up your HDMI connection and click Manual rather than automatic. Uncheck 720p and 1080i and when you play any game after that the resolution will always be 1080p =)

  • @MrTibbers Actually, that's not true. The PS3 has no internal scaler whatsoever. Any upscaling is done strictly by your television. Look into it. :) Even though you were incorrect I'm going to thumbs up your post... simply because you weren't a flaming dick-head like that idiotic senser kid.

  • @d3adliner Are you fucking stupid or something? Scaling doesn't effect SHIT when it comes to lag. Lag is dependent on your NETWORK SET UP AND MONITOR RESPONSE TIME. And will .01ms really really make a difference? Uhhh not really/ I have no clue why other idiots would thumb up your comment, maybe because they're just as dumb as you.

  • Comment removed

  • @senser1080 Epic FAIL. You have just proven yourself to be the most stupid person here. Do your research next time, before you spew more tripe out of your mouth that you obviously know nothing about. Scaling doesn't effect lag? LMAO!!! Upscaling=Image Processing. Image Processing=Lag. And I wasn't talking about network lag OR monitor response time for that matter you fucking moron. Do you have any remote clue whatsoever as to what INPUT LAG is? Now go back to the Bieber forums where you belong.

  • @d3adliner Lmao, nope. Tripe is sheep intestine. uh LAG in a general sense, IS A NETWORKING TERM moron. and it was used in that context as well. If it were input lag, HE WOULD HAVE SAID INPUT LAG. l2reading comprehension.

  • @senser1080 lrn 2 spill an uze prahpur punktoashun

You+Fail=Again. That's all have to say. Not worth any more of my time.

    Thank you. Goodnight.

  • @d3adliner How easily trolled are you? Holy chit

  • sck ma balls fcking idiot

  • how do u get sound on ps3 thru ur lcd monitor with the vga box? is there speaker jacks on it?

  • yep, ive got a line running from my vga box to the line in on my sound card so my computer and everything thats running through my vga will work off the same speakers without having to hook it up into different things all the time

  • can any body tell me if vga boxs work for laptops to just asking?

  • If I get an hd fury converter I should be able to have it at 720p and without too much stretching.

  • cool, just worried about any bleeding or black lines - if they are small I don't really mind

  • yeah thats what I thought. at that size 720p wouldn't look too bad would it?

  • I have an Acer x193w 19" LCD:

    5ms Response Time

    1440x900 Resolution

    2000:1 Contrast Ratio

    View Angle:160x160

    Brightness: 300cd/m2

    Analog Input Signal

With this VGA box and component cable can I run 1080p ouput?

Simple question for some, all I want is a simple answer even if its obvious.

    Thanks :)

  • hey man

was the usb power cable included in the box because i don't have one and i cannot give power to the vga box

  • Yes, it comes with a USB power cord, and if for whatever reason you didn't receive one you can simply use any other ordinary USB connection, like the one that comes with the ps3.

  • does this thing do 1080p even if ur monitor doesnt support 1080p?

what about 1:1 pixel mapping? does it stretch your display or add black bars to compensate for 16:10 (monitors) instead of 16:9 displays that xbox 360 and PS3 are desingned to be played on?

  • what screen size is your monitor? what is it's native resolution and contrast ratio?

and can you tell me if the quality is crystal clear and sharp and with good colors?

  • The answer to these questions is of course,

    "butt buddies."

  • thanks you have been very helpful

    *sarcasm*

  • I just bought the xcm 1080p vga box and i am trying to hook my ps3 up to my computer monitor.i dont have a normal television to hook it up to first so i can see the video settings and change them to 480p-1080p...it says no signal on my lcd monitor...how can i get it to work without hooking it up on the tv first like i see many people doing in the videos...please help

  • what if you dont have a widescreen monitor? will it display it 4:3, i dont want my games to be cut off you know.

  • i wanna get one of these but i dnt reli understand all the specifications...all i know is i have a 17" HP moniter (flat of course) with i think a VGA cable...will it work on my moniter???

  • ur monitor is not HDCP right?

  • hopefully the ps3 could also upscale traditional psx games into 1080p,cuzz i tout that i had read it on wikipedia.

  • i have an xcm vga converter but the picture still only a few seconds in the screen and turns black. why????

  • yours must be defective because mine doesn't do that at all

  • Same problem here i just recieved my 1080p box i tryd to connect it but it shows the picture only for a second then turns black again! have tryed everything ! please help!!

  • so much power in a little screen

  • As i am aware this box does not output 480i resoultion so mos of your ps2 games wont work right. But if you use the upscale feature ps3 and upscale ps2 games to 1080p, it should work right?

  • you are correct it does not output 480i but with the ps3 upscale it works great!!!

  • The PS3 has HDMI. Why not just buy an HDMI -> DVI cable (10bux) and plug that into your DVI port on your monitor?

i did this for my xbox360 and it looks great

  • cuz i only have a fat 19 inch crt monitor 3200x1200 resolution

  • 3200x1200? uhh buddy...no its not, its like 1280x1024

  • and i completely agree with u! :D

my monitor has DVI-D (the better 1!) instead of going to the hassle to buy all this stuff

  • Because when you have a non hdcp compatible monitor you cant use an hdmi to dvi cable because it doesnt work. You can only use component cables to get the hd resolutions when you have no hdcp. Do a little research before you go telling people what to do....

  • That works too but it has a lot of issues with that because Since HDMI was made to output sound as well it causes problems if you only want to output video. Some monitors support that but most don't

  • @HUNTERC22000 you could use the composite cable to output the sound

  • @HUNTERC22000 so i s my monitor rare or what

  • why do u need a vga box if u have an hdtv already..?

  • is it good to play on lcd monitor or hdtv on ps3? or they r the same graphics?

  • if both resolutions are the same then the graphics are the same. EXAMPLE: If you have a High Definition TV that supports 1080P and you have a LCD computer monitor that supports 1080P the question that arises is which screen is larger---the one that is larger would probably be the one to pick to play your game on. Contrast Ratio differences between the HDTV and LCD monitor would be the only other deciding factor. With a higher contrast ratio the better the black and white colors will show up.

  • Hi does anyone know if i have to buy anymore cables for this to play 1080p on my ps3 as i am geting one hopefully tomorow with ma ps3:).do i need a hdmi cable e.t.c Please message me:) thanks guys:)

  • you need a component cable and a vga cable

  • that screen must support 1920x1200 to play 1080p from a ps3

  • will this work on any tft monitors even without dvi input and doesnt support HDCP?

    Thanks

  • Will this work even the monitor doesn't support Dvi/HDCP?

  • No it wouldn't work in 1080P unless the monitor supports it. Otherwise, as long as you have a VGA input, this device will upscale the game to the highest rated resolution.

  • Hey man how good is the picture quality? Is it as good and sharp as if you were using component cables on like an actual lcd tv? I've bought a vga tuner box before & used on my comp and I can connect like the standard red/yellow/white cable to it with my Wii but the picture's kinda blurry and not as sharp as on a tv. Since this XCM box is component though, is the picture quality really sharp? Do you definitely recommend this?

  • Oh and does it automatically adjust widescreen supported games to widescreen (on a widescreen monitor)? Or does it stretch it? What about games that aren't widescreen native? Thanks

  • They should put these in Ebgames etc :) hopefully amazon will get more of these vga boxes

  • Hey can you help me out, I'm planning on getting a HP computer (HP pavilion ultimate d4999t series) with a nice monitor. I want to know what monitor from HP would be good for hooking up my PS3 to it (I want 1080p just by a HDMI cord). Also would that computer be able to handle crysis =o lol?

Anyways the monitor I was looking at was 20" I think, so would that be good for 1080p?

  • You want to hear 1920 X 1080 resolution is supported or even better natively displayed. You might hear this resolution 1920 X 1200 which is 1080P compliant also. There are even LCD monitors that support resolutions higher than 1080P for example 2560 X 1600 but only on a LCD monitor like a 30 inch. LCD monitors bigger than 23 inches can display 1920 X 1200 as their native display. Be careful with laptops as most don't support 1080P but Sony Vaio's do. REMEMBER that natively displayed is better!

  • Thanks for the help although I posted this a year ago. I already have my computer that can run crysis, great monitor, and great speakers. I got everything I wanted now.

  • Hey nice video! My LCD monitor max resolution is 1440x900 will that work? is that 720p?

  • u got it your resolution would be classified as 720p.

  • 1280x720 is 720p

so you gonna be up scaleing that >.>

  • Have you ever had any problems with the ps3 cable that the xcm box comes with. The cable mine came with the audio L/R cables are the wrong way round ie left channel outputs to the right Chanel. Also the cable gives allot of green edges around objects. Had the same problem with a 360, when we used the cable the xcm box came with the picture was green in places, we then tried the cable the 360 came with and no problems at all.

  • that's something i have to admit. The cables are good quality but eventually they give problems. Do what i did get the OFFICIAL cables and use the box with that and everything will be great.

  • how reliable? compared to the YPbPr Component to RGBHV VGA box? (the black box 2:1)

  • Trust me my friend this is very reliable. The image is sharp and clean. Not like the x2vga it lagged sometimes and the material is cheap. This product is build solid.

  • Does the AV Component cable for PS3 work with PS2? I tried it and it does not work on my CRT Monitor? :( DO I need to purchase a component cable for PS2?

  • Actually dude this product does not work with the ps2 because the ps2 only outputs most of it's content in 480i and most computer monitors do not support that.

  • Thanks for clearing this up. I emailed XCM and they told me the same thing.

  • wat monitor r u using

  • you can use any monitor with this converter.

  • great hardware
