Not a bad story, I have to agree with the other comments, no horns on the helmet and no one with darker skin were vikings. The plot, historic background, etc. was good.
for gods sake,A BLACK VIKING are you yanks taking the piss, whenever i see an american take on european history they absolutely rape it,vikings were WHITE,i find this racist you would not have a white person playing a zulu warrior in a documentary would you,SORT IT OUT
Why the #!$#@ does he have horns? Is he a Thracian or something non-northern European? My people never wore horns on their helmets, especially not in battle- the only record of it happening was w/ certain gothi ceremonies. I blame the English for this nonsense... After Lindisfarne they started calling us horned demons. In the 19th century utlänning scum started painting us with horns. Now we have "Pathfinder" or other racist films/media to perpetuate this barbarian crap.
@Abracadamnit don't be a racist shit! Yes a black man wouldn't have been a viking but the film is filled with in accuracies such as horns on helmets, bastard swords (didn't appear 'till the high medieval period), double axes... Odin doesn't descriminate why should you?
Also don't let Hitler and Wagner cloud your view of the reality the vikings either because Hitler twisted anything to promote his nationalism including Nastrodamus
Fascism is expansiv and force people, similar to liberalism to follow an agenda.
Nationalism is the opposite according to political science. It's non expansiv and the agenda is set by the people.
Many of the first anarchists were nationalists. Proudhon, Bakunin et cetera.
Liberals have more in common with fascism than nationalism. Where they set an agenda for people to follow, and instead of being expansiv by means of war, instead through beuoc
I had thought that they were explorers who were very warlike. our cultural view of them really comes from the church (which views anything that doesn't come from god or isn't in gods will as coming from satan or ungodlike)In other words your either on gods side or the devil
2. Valkyries are PRESENT at the field of battle and chooses whom to die by redirecting blows and arrows to kill those worthy. They don't prance in when the deed is done.
3. Not all valkyries bring soldiers to Odin, half of the fallen soldiers go to Freya.
4. Vikings did not wear horned helmets, the only depiction of horned helmets have been found on a handful of coins.
For a COLLEGE-project one would expect you opened a historybook first...
Wow, don't ask too much, they do probably not know who Freya is.
Just by the fact of seeing horned helmets, they must have learnt everything in a movie or a comic. We weren't far from seeing them drinking their ennemies' blood in human skulls...
I thought it was interesting for a norse video to have a woman narrator, usually they're buy these guys with booming voices to enchance the brutality.
All and all I didn't like it, but im a tight ass and this is my major. It was a fair attempt, but theres just to much historical and mythological inaccuracy. It'd be the equivelant of me making a movie about christianity with a asian as jesus and all he does is go on benders.
i don't think you know what your talking about berserker dude and is this what you do instead of studying for your major bash people on youtube all day?
on the first part of the question i will get back later (sence i´m not sure on it).
but for a viking warrior to say no to valhalla no were to be seen in the nordic mythology (corect me if i´m wrong), it is a to big honor to pass down and if you do you will go to "Hel". and i have never heard of that ever.
white yes and not wanting to go no that was what they lived for to die at odins will to grace the halls of valhala in a gloryous bloody death in battle :D
Yes they were white. Valhalla is just the hall of the valiant. It is but 1 portion of the realm of the noble. That realm is equitable to the fields of elysium and the kingdom of heaven in unity with the higher beings - Christ and even the all-father who is the adi-adonai (primordial [precosmic] God of Love and of Nobility) I am moving fluidly from 1 branch to another here (the norse, the cathar/alibigensian/the christian & arian/ the bacchic(dionysian) mysteries & so forth) - they are of 1 tree.
And a warrior could go where ever they felt after death, they did not need a valkery to gain them access, only to hasten they're ascent into valhala.
Though the whole story of Valhala was created long after Odins death and ascent. Its kind of like heaven and hell for christians, they were created to scare people to follow certain beleifs, only beleived by small minded and controlling individuals.
A Black Norseman with horns ducktaped to his helmet? I understand that this is an amateur production, but come on... The Vikings didn't even actually have horns on their helmets.
some did, many people used some sort of ornament for helmets
romans had hair and other things to their helmets, u probably no what they look like, and some knights im medieval times had either painted helms, or made of diffrent metals,
Yes, ornaments such as depictions of a bear, boar, wolf, raven, one of the gods, whatever... but never horns, they would have actually made the helmet weaker. Only a ceremonial helmet would have had horns, and they would have been removable - horns were for drinking!
Actually some berserker did have horns on they're helmet. Not the steriotypic bull horns or somthing like that, but steel ones they would use to charge the enemy if they dropped there weapon.
Also it wasn't uncommon for a go'thor or chieftan to wear animal skulls or horns in an attempt to gain favor with the animal spirits of the region.
I have heard of berserkers wearing the hides of wolves or bears, and the upper jaws of the animal on top of their heads. And I've heard of chieftains/go'thors (I'm guessing go'thor is another area's term for what I call a gothi) wearing skulls, possibly skulls of horned animals. But I've never heard of steel horns added to helmets as weapons. What's your source for this information?
Favourite question, just cause I asked once? Eesh.
I have no specific source, I've just read innumerable books and articles about the history of the Viking Age and the culture of the Vikings themselves. I have some facts about them floating around in my head, needless to say.
Anyway, the fact that there are horned helmets on display in a museum comes as a great surprise to me. You sure those weren't just horns that would be used for drinking? Not weapons?
Yes it was on a display distinctly for a beserk clan, I dont think you have the right image of what shape the horn was however, it was on the forhead with much more of like the end of a pick shape as opposed to the steriotypical bull horn.
Also I appaulagize, when i stated that source commment i had in mind another individual from another norse themed video who's been running around spewing facts while challenging others but never indulging his own question "wheres your source"
Ohh, okay nevermind. I've seen helmets with a single spike on them before (or at least, I've seen pictures). I just don't think any helmets with actual horns, like bull horns or whatever, were used in battle... If such helmets existed, they were a ceremonial possession or the horns were drinking horns.
And that's alright, it's easy to get mixed up. The Youtube comment system isn't exactly designed for discussion... Plus the comments pages are often full of morons. -_-
i admire your interest in our culture... I long for the day I shall fight alongside my fallen anchestors/fathers for the good of my people in ragnarök. but let that be another time. of course our people are breeded from several eurasian lands and in the viking raid era we traveled all over and mixed, but a viking heart never truly hides itself, so we can allways spot each other were ever we are.
Lol Black Viking, to add salt to the wound, he's half filipino, half french. Historical Accuracy was not the focus either. Can anything historical today be completely accurate? There's so much diluting through the passage of time its irrelevant given the scope.
A no budget student film used to learn and practice techniques. Given the group chemistry it took effort to make this turn out as it did. Even if it was laughingly discounted, lessons were learned, which is the most important part...

Nice work! Except please ditch the hokey--and unauthentic--helmet with horns. Otherwise (and the hokey helmet was not there long), a great work! Notice how the more authentic costumes really added to this production.
Gotta be honest, your warrior is a panzy. You don't get into Valhalla trying to spare kids lives..and then getting sniped! These are vikings!! How were they racists? Did they discriminate against negros? If one African negro tribe attacks another negro tribe, is that racist?
Vikings were Caucasians, attacking other Caucasians. They were warriors, living in a time known as the 'Dark Ages' of European history.
They were not racists, got it?
BattleReb 2 years ago 4
And let me add...the Dark Ages was caused by Christianity / Catholicism!

How do you know?
Racism is just one country claiming to be better than another country.
Nations are always race based and those that are not are temporary.
Anti racists are people who want no borders and that everyone in the world has the right to go where they want with nothing to fear.
Humans are territorial.Should we call lions who let nothing into their little land claim racist?
