this song says that the video on Tv and YouTube killed radio because we got mp3s now and cable TV we hardly dont listen to Radio no more unless you have no CDs in a car. But with CDs Mp3s and YouTube it just basically killed Radio because on radio you cant rwind we gone to far it means radio cant be rewind and it might be a while before the song comes back on but with mp3s and video you can rewind it but radio you cant rewind and in your car you cant rewind eaither unless u use CD
The dark haired singer is "radio," so she is plain, and non-visual, and the blonde singer is "video," so she vamps and preens, very visual. The blonde files her nails during "radio's" solo, as if to say, "fffttt--who cares." I assume the toy gun is to symbolize video killing radio.
@sdwbaps According to Trevor Horn from "VKTRS 2004 live. It's either Debi Doss or Linda Allan, the original backup singers for the song. Go watch the Buggles 2004 vid and see them as they are now.
I remember watching this when I was 10 years old and wondering why one of the backing vocalists looked so frumpy while the other one was more sex kittenish. Then I realised the frumpy one represented 'radio', and the sexier one represented 'video' as radio doesn't have to be seen but video does. But does anyone know which one is Debbie Doss and which one is Linda Allen?
Rumor has it that tthey had started work on a 3rd album...but, beyond putting down words for 1 or 2 songs, nothing ever came of it; they broke up shortly thereafter.
They might be re-releasing "AIMR" 2nd album sometime in '08 or '09...hope so...my vinyal copy's wearing out!
I love music between the years 1976 to about 1884. Music slowly began to suck from 1985 to the late 90's. Music has been good again. Not all 90's music sucked, but most of it did. The early 80's was HOT! in a cool sort of way :)
Trevor Horn? Oh, the same thaht make de CD`s Pet Shop Boys with Orchestra? Wow...I never imagine that I know it, cause "THe video killed..." Is my firts english song, and PSB is one of my favorites groups...
The Second album contain no Single hit and is an almost forgotten album you can't find it anywhere ( Well, except in garage sell :| ) However, They are now trying to re-issue the album

Woah! Time flies when you are having fun... (not that much by the way) I was like 7-8...
One of my first "pop songs"... and I loved it for long time... (still I do) great memories!
Thank you for the note (fremont699 and dockwolf) I never saw it that way, but you are right!
Wish that the world could use more of nice songs than the plastic ones of nowadays! Peace out to all...

Of course they were syncing. In the real song there were at least 3 synthesisers, 2 bassists and 2 drummers.
