  • That last helper was an ex Conrail unit painted right after NS took over their part of Conrail...the logo on the short hood is too low, and the numbers on the side are not in the NS (ex Southern Railway) font. They got the bugs worked out after that, on later repaints.

  • Ghosts of the Pennsylvania Railroad...too bad the PRR didn't live on, but NS is a worthy successor, and the correct successor given that PRR once owned 1/3 of NS predecessor N&W.

  • @NJT4111, there are still a few CR painted SD40-2's on NS, and they occasionally get rotated into helper service on the ex PRR....
