@jcarp179 I think what he means by "don't give a shit" is you should only care about the things that you want to care about, not what other people want you to care about. And that is good advice.

I think he mentions "not giving a shit' as a way of gauging whether or not you are doing what you want to do in life (not just career-wise). By understanding when he didn't give a shit, he gained more insight into what he DID give a shit about.
