all the problems that she mentions are CAUSED by the government. The government creates the illusion of these problems being inherent in the system while it is the government itself that causes the problems. All RP wants to do is get the gov't out of the way and unleash the "freedom" aspect of our Founding document. People are so blind and ill-informed that they think they need the gov't to save them from themselves. Man it's really pathetic when you think about it.
LMAO he said "american middle class" For those of you too young to remember what that even is, it was this group of people with disposable income beyond scraping by living with extended family eating ramen and rice and beans. Most of you guys are probably too young to remember when there was a middle class in this country, before the wall street corporofascists got together and looted it. There are just billionaires and slaves now...unless you wanna call puppet politicians the middle class.
Nuts - the goal of libertarians, even though they are too short-sighted and simple-minded to realize it, is to return us too the halcyon days of the late nineteenth century - when life was good - if your name was Vanderbilt, or Rockefeller, or Carnegie or Astor. Of course, life kind of sucked for everyone else, and there was no such thing as a middle class - something that made the greatest generation great.
I do have to say, though, that one thing I like about Paul is the fact that he doesn't campaign and then turn around and start writing checks to his biggest campaign donors in stead of his principles. But isn't it kind of sad that that is the only level of standard we are judging our candidates on? That's like praising somebody for not tripping over their own feet.
Maybe that reference to Sarah Palin was a bit much, but the point I was trying to make was that voters react to hearing nice, favorable things rather than really making sure their candidate understands enough to come up with a proper solution to problems.
I'll take Bill Maher's position here and say that the majority of voters respond to projection and confidence, not necessarily any technical understanding of their candidates or the issues. Sarah Palin was dumb as a brick w/o any understanding of the questions asked of her and conservatives ate it up. Ron Paul doesn't seem to understand the importance of banking and loans but takes the "Both sides are at fault and I'll rise above it all" line and attracts a large following.
You want to start with the "foundation" link (after reading the "read me first" link and the "overview" whch are introductions of a sort), the "foundation" link will start you on your way. This material is well-researched, it's author - bill thornton - is a respected member of "the people" with real court experience who practices transparency, which to me is the most important characteristic I look for in a private attorney.
Youth face unemployment of around 15%... I can't understand why ANY young person would vote for a guy who doesn't believe in the Fed and government spending to pick up the economic slack. If Obama didn't change anything, then certainly Ron Paul, a man who has been in Washington for over 30 years, won't make matters any better.
Fair report, Alyona. Keep up the good work. I might also add that "compassion" is the other side of the coin of justice. These two absolute human goods make no sense if they're divorced from one another. Obviously, with Paul, an M. D., there's no bifurcation here that continues to baffle so many Dems, Libs, & GOP. He further understands that perceptions of his compassion is a pol. problem that he needs to fix. Other GOP & O are only status-quo. Please consider voting for Ron Paul in 2012.
What Libertarians like Ron Paul and his unfortunately named son Rand fail to realize is that societies depend entirely on each member helping out the whole. Once that is taken away, the only thing left is the mad dash to the top which has served our world so poorly over the centuries.
Are you trying to insinuate that Libertarians are bent on anarchy?
The biggest call I ever hear from them is a return to the constitution. In that situation, people are forced to either, as you say, fight it out, or cooperate to achieve mutual achievement. In the case of the latter, the cooperation becomes a voluntary choice which leads to the development of common positive morals and values.
As it is now, government says "you will cooperate or we will use force on you".
@LordDyhalto Libertarians aren't Anarchists, they simply don't see that the only reason for a government is to provide services to a society that individuals cannot provide for themselves. Perhaps they do not understand that the governing body isn't meant to be an external force, rather it is a physical extention of the will of the population.
Maybe the mainline Libertarians, yes, but fully understanding the relationship between government, the legislative system, and the people is complicated and not for everyone.
Right now, it's more important that libertarians provide a viable alternative to a status quo that demands big government regulation of all things under the sun. When the revolution succeeds then the intellectual champions can be sent forth to construct the new system.
@LordDyhalto As long as that alternative does not support the sort of Atlas Shrugged Ayn Rand philosophy of selfish interest above the needs of the common good we would agree. But the Pauls would not.
@LordDyhalto "Right now, it's more important that libertarians provide a viable alternative to a status quo that demands big government regulation of all things under the sun. When the revolution succeeds then the intellectual champions can be sent forth to construct the new system" Yeah, let's not kid ourselves. We have an ifestation of liars, theives and murderers and need to gut the system and set it up so honest people have a chance to get elected. Ron Paul would be an enema.
@Cashify : ) I certainly hope so. Someone needs to start "Progressives for Paul" (would be me, but there's alot I would need to pick up about net-skills before I could do that), so folks don't think they need to give up their political identities and agree with everything Paul says to support him.
Ron Paul would be a nightmare for civil rights in America. He wants people to have the right if they own businesses to decriminate. Imagine that. So this President Obama would not be allowed to go into certain businesses in this country. Well if your a racist it might sound like a dream, but for normal people they know better.
@Masonsky123 The "right to refuse service" isn't always about race. It's used to bar people who are loitering, caught shoplifting, or causing damage in businesses. Often after the police are called the store will "ban" the subject from the premesis.
@letmeinustupidthing And I have no problem with those bans, but that wasn't his question. His question was do you think segregation should be legal? He answered that he has no problem with it. That and the fact that he admires a sociopath like Ayn Rand, make him a candidate that most people won't vote for.
@Masonsky123 & letmeinustupidthing Check out this video titled "A Message to Ron Paul Supporters" from The Young Turks. He may consciously know, but Ron Paul seems somewhat racist to me.
Leave it to republicans to make the word entitlements sound like a dirty. You pay into social security all your life and how dare you expect to get something back. You work 40 hours a week, how dare you think you're entitled to a paycheck. You bought a bus ticket how dare you think your entitled to ride on the bus. The difference between us and the 1 precent is the way we think. They think they're entitled to the whole world, while making us feel guilty for thinking we're entitled to a little.
What is truly sad to me is that people don't realize how enlightened and evolved the Constitution is, it represents the best of what grew out of the Magna Carta and the Common Law. It provides to every individual limitless freedom, limited only by the limits of one's imagination. That limitless sense of what is possible is the essence of what it is to be "free". What is missing today is the truth of our reality. This country was bankrupted in 1933. We have been in receivorship ever since.

@skimaskradio He could only split the vote if he ran as an independent after losing the nomination. Which he probably will not do. If he does run as an independent he has my vote for sure. I will not vote for Obama who did not prosecute torturers, stamped on Wikileak's face and by extension on every true American's face, kept Guantanamo opened and habeas corpus suspended, and has disregarded the constitution and our civil liberties. He is scum and a compromising coward. Fuck Obama.
@skimaskradio Not being responsive makes YOU a nutjob, I meant to say. Corporatism has to end, and I don't care if there's a D or an R or an I or any other letter in front of the peoples' names who are trying to fight it. Everything is about economics, the social wedge stuff is meaningless if we The People cannot take the economics of our nation back from the banksters. I will consider voting for Paul in 2012, even if he runs as a Republican. As long as he doesn't sell out to appeal to the base.
Ron Paul wants to suspend income tax for at least a couple years! Can you imagine a bigger stimulus to the economy? Everyone knows that our incom tax is not used for government spending, it goes straight to the bankers for the payment of interest. Ron Paul wants to take back those trillions that were stolen from the american people during the financial crisis. Ron Paul is a revolutionary who will transform America into the constitutional republic she was meant to be.
@slewofdamascus Everybody's income is going toward paying off their debts. Did you forget about the Bush tax cuts? Americans' taxes are the lowest they have been in decades! Somebody who has for thirty years decided not to believe in the Fed should take a class in Macroeconomics 101 to relearn the principles of economics and the importance of banks. What's Paul going to do, tell everybody to start trading cows and chickens? I hate to say this, but Paul seems to me an iteration of Sarah Palin.
@fiercedragoon1982 Ron Paul is the anithesis of Sarah Palin, for which you should have full awareness. You might be an otherwise reasonable sort, why don't you read some of the books RP has authored (no ghost writing)? I have zero doubt he knows considerably more about economic theory than you do. @slewofdamascus If Ron Paul really believes in suspending the income tax, then not only is he even more fiscally irresponsible than George Bush, he has no right to call himself revolutionary. Oh yeah, I just got rid of everybody's taxes, I'm SO revolutionary! Can you think of a more politically easy thing to do?
@videoguy604 if you have anything to back that moronic statement up, please do provide....of course, you can't provide anything factual to back it up because no such thing exists. Ron Paul is the antithesis of tyranny. Ron Paul's whole political career has been based upon the ideals laid out in the United States Constitution, such as:
Liberty, sir, is the primary object, ...the battles of the Revolution were fought, not to make 'a great and mighty empire', but 'for liberty' - Patrick Henry
@videoguy604 That is nowhere near his position, that is the "punch" line of a context-less sound-bite criticism, it fails in every regard to capture his highly sophisticated view on the nature of so-called "civil rights". Do you know that "the people" - that means sovereign people of the United States (not "CITIZENS of the UNITED STATES, INC.) have whatever rights each individual claims for himself? "Civil rights" denotes "priviliges". The free and sovereign People don't need permission.
@BarackMcBush that's the kind of shallow thinking for which you should not feel pride. They feed you a little sound bite, knowing the shallowness of their targets, that you will not investigate or whose context you will not seek out. Americans have become shallower and shallower with each passing generation, allowing themselves to be manipulated outside of their conscious free will. Ron Paul opposed the CRA of 1964 because of the clauses on private property, an integral element of our freedom.
@BarackMcBush this isn't a "DEMOCRACY" You can continue to allow yourself to be programmed with this deceitful propoganda, or you can educate yourself on our founding documents. Democracy is tyranny, it's the "tyranny of the majority". In a constitutional republic designed to protect individual liberty, 99% of this country hell-bent on trading constitutional freedom for TSA-like security, cannot vote away the common law rights guaranteed to "the people" even if "the people" represents only 1%.
@slewofdamascus Fuck the Founders ,most were bigoted slave owners, I want to live in a 2011 society ,not an imagined 1776 one ,You Ron Paul fans throw around "Tyranny" just a little too lightly ,ask anyone who lived under the Soviet empire. Can & Should the U.S political system and society be changed?, Yes but to an evolved and enlightened one ,not back to a near med-evil one.
@BarackMcBush You can have your "2011 society" the one that forces you to seek permission from your masters, I will take the one the founders created for me, the one that gives me unlimited rights (of my choosing), as long as I do not injure another or make fraud in my contracts. I do not ask permission from the government, nor do I pay for priviliges that were the rights of my ancestors ( "the people"). I have empathy for you and the TV-majority you represent, but you will never take my rights.
@BarackMcBush is that your way of saying "uncle"? It's weaker than shit, right? I mean that thing you just did, making a little ad hominem, which is meaningless to me, btw, utterly meaningless. I have empathy for those like you. You are a slave, and you have been trained to defend it. I hope you find the truth before you die.
@BEARARMZ No, it would be offensive. Racism is the belief that one race is genetically superior to another. No other definition makes any sense. PoliticoNews is just a politically correct retard.
@BEARARMZ Don't pander to politically correct faggot paki mudslime cunts. Let them be offended. They always will be no matter what anyone does anyway.

@slewofdamascus ..Funny thought ,Only white men had those rights then.

@slewofdamascus No , I have simple come to the conclusion that you may be Mentally Unstable ,Please get help.

Reason guys hate Ron Paul don't they? Could it be because he is NOT funded by the Koch brothers?
