We never once claimed this car to be an L82 -- it has the base L48 engine, and was sold as such. I think someone else has caused some unnecessary confusion here.
At any rate, the Corvette Black Book states that the 4 speed was not available with the L82 in 1980, with the possible exception of a few early production cars.
Not an L-82. An L-82 has bare aluminium valve covers, and an electric cooling fan. The serial number will indicate if it's an L-82 or not. I like the claret interior.
Definitely not an L-82 just an L-48. The L-82 did have dual snorkels as my 1980 L-48 did. An L-82 from 1980 had bare aluminium valve covers and an electric fan. Thr correct interior color is called "claret." The silver exterior is paint code #13 - stock GM silver. It sure is a nice car.
Yes, they are rare, but they did produce 5,757 1980 Corvettes with factory 4 speeds. Compare that to the 34,849 1980 Corvettes that came with the 3 speed automatic.
There was NO Such Animal as a 4 Speed L82 Corvette in 1980. Only the L48 came with a 4 Speed option. Duh!
