  • 5 years ago a friend and I went down to our State Capital for what we thought was a

"grass root" Tea Party demonstration. I'm a Libertartian so I don't watch Fox nor listen to their Radio programs. All of my communication had been online. When we got there we we're quite surprised at how many people had showed up, then we saw and heard Fox Radio and one of their local Republican hosts introducing politicians. I knew right then that the Tea Party movement had been hi-jacked by Fox Rupert=DB

  • That dream was quite awkward lol

  • "Show me an American that can keep his mouth shut and I'll eat him" bu bu buwhat? I guess that saying has disappeared since filming :)

  • I has always found this film to be one of my favorites during this time of year! :D

  • rick ross brought me here

  • The best Christmas movie ever, from the great Frank Capra. And how appropriate to our times. Will we finally take charge for our lives, communities and cities or continue to leave it to the politicians and bankers? And keep repeating the same mistakes. when will we learn? 2012? Occupy, vote, revolt, stop paying your taxes or more of the same for anther 250 yr cycle. Democracy is dead, long live democracy.

  • What an amazing movie! I was more and more into it as each minute went by . I was even beginning to believe in the John Doe movement myself. I wanted it so badly to be true, for the club to succeed. The idea seemed so simple, but it turned out to mean so much more. I was in tears for the last fifteen minutes. Over 70 years later and this movie is still moving. BRAVO!

  • for those of you who claim that something similar to the plot of the movie is happening now in real life, could you shed some light on this? is it the displays of fascist values, organized clubs, ignorant herd following of the masses, populism and the Occupy Wall Street movement, the danger of "Huey Long"'s, etc.? Sensationalist journalism and unethical practices related to it (ie news corp scandal)? i'm interested in what others think is happening or going to happen.

  • I sat with Frank Capra,in his living room,in Fort Lee,N.J. 1971,we were working on an anti-drug Play.He had to leave the project,I did not know who he was,we had fun,he was a nice man.Years later I found out he was a great man.The film style is old,but has the Capra touch.

  • This is us now. Like 1984 and Metropolis.

  • One of the greatest movies ever. It was nominated for an best original story Oscar. Cooper won best actor that same year for Sgt. York. Citizen Kane won best screenplay, and the Maltese Falcon was nominated for a bunch but didn't win any. Not a too shabby year for movies.

  • that the longest video on youtube

  • haha, i searched for "1" and i found this xD

  • i found a website that has better movies vidzero.com spread the love for movies :)

  • Some great moments of humor and wisdom. The "speeches" are sooooooooooooooooooooooo long though. The "Colonel" is utterly annoying. But Edward Arnold is WONDERFUL as usual. He completely steals the show. What a great man. Barbara Stanwyck grossly overdoes it, as always. Gary Cooper plays a highly sympathetic figure.

  • I love this movie,I fell in with it the first time I saw it! Its excellent!!

  • It was a simpler time. It was a better time.

  • @jdomes SO true!!!

  • Great film. Sounds like the current day Tea Party. Populist appeal. Who's going to remake it?!

  • I loved this movie. Thanks so much for the upload. Great acting both BS and GC. Great directing, movinng plot, and very true. All great. Can't thank you enough.

  • This is quite possibly the first 'big epic saga' family targeted movie. It might have even been the first film that made 'movie' a household name. At least it seems this way. Could it be be the stadium scene, or the fact that it's about the common man. I've watched so many old B&W films that I can't say any of this without giving respects to the silent era films which brought the audience adrenaline to great levels. Stanwyck looks very healthy here. A babe in 'Ladies of Leisure'- my favorite

  • @paulj0557 ...It's a wonderful life.........Capra,also.

  • fantastik humain movie

  • john doe rocks i love him hes so amazingg he was on thiss soundtrack for friday night lightss vol.2 and i cant stop listening to it its so amazing! and so are all the other artists on thee cd!

  • Barbara Stanwick..loved all her movies

  • I grew up watching this movie with my dad, still one of my all time favorites. Inspiring and sends a strong message. Love it. 5 stars all the way!

  • One of my all time favorites...the emotion in the final scene gets me every time. Funny how I saw this movie on one of the local tv channels 30+ years ago before the advent of cable...seems I can't find most of the classics on my cable despite all the channels available. Sad for me and sad for my kids...classic music has been easier to share with them than some of these older movies. Thanks for the post.

  • how did you download it in a part?

  • i mean upload not download

  • Funny, just a week ago I watched the "Hero" with Dustin Hoffman. Pretty clear for me, it was inspired by "Meet John Dow" . As one wise guy said, Hollywood is now imitating the imitations of life. The "Hero" is a good movie, Hoffman is brilliant. And though the Capra's film may feel sometimes a little pathetic, it is far more GENUINE. And this is why I think this movie is TIMELESS masterpiece, but the newer one is nothing more than just a good movie.

  • Frank Capra was a great director. This movie has more history in it than most people realize both for events that have taken place and are happening once again......

  • Great observation, I totally agree.

I wished some of his heroes would come to (real) life these days.

  • @theylivema - Frank Capra was THE DIRECTOR! People who watch movies like this are very classy and intelligent people!

  • Now this is what I call a movie - Its timeless in quality - Imageination is the key - enjoy

  • Hey Cavahlia, the Mayor is really good in this

iconic film way ahead of it's time. Gene Lockhart = 1st class actor and Miss Stanwyck simply fantastic.

  • This is Edward Arnold's movie all around.

  • i love this movie

  • great, thanks Frank

  • Thanks for posting this! It is so nice to see my great grandfather in this!

  • which one is ur great grandfather? just wondering?

  • My great grandfather was Gene Lockhart and he played Mayor Lovett in the movie.
