Its been quite a time since I’ve written notes to folk let alone put any new songs up.. I’ve also taken a bit of a sabbatical away from folk festivals looking for some form of inspiration. It always great to return to your channel and catch up with some of your songs over the last few months. They are always a joy to listen to and a kick start to picking up the wood and strings again. Hope your well.
ha.. fancy seeing you here.. lol.. have a wonderful new year.. tried to find you in fleetwood afterwoods.. it was great meeting up.. very special.. XXX
Jim Croce was a treasure around our way and you are most definitely a treasure on youtube and I suspect in real life. This is a sweet song and it's history makes it sweeter.
Feel free to wake me anytime with one of your songs...........wether the words come out wrong or not!...Opps.........please don't be offended by my comment....it's meant to be silly and light hearted! I just enjoy listening to you and this was a beautiful song. Love always......Sue xx
This man does the best cover versions of (usually) 'folky' song ever. The reason for this is that he doesn't try to copy the original he interprets it, he puts his own nuances on them, both vocally and guitarley (if there's such a word), you love the originals but I love how Mike adapts these to his own style. The vocals wobble a bit at times but that just increases the pleasure as he's sining live. Fantastic.
I can't believe this. You do one of may favourite versions of 45 years from Stan, and here you are playing my favourite JC song. Thanks again and please keep it up
thanks mk.. that would be fun.. still the yellow jacket gets me close to the stage.. thats not so bad... the dream is getting lovely notes like this... kind thoughts returned.. Mike
Well Mike, have not had a look for a while but have spent a most enjoyable afternoon listening to you today. Love McTell and was wondering if you do Zimmerman Blues? Thanks for still being there and performing for everybody, as the saying goes "love your work" :) there is such sincerity and feeling in it. Best, roryc.
Nice chords there Mike. I really like that you let us see how you play the guitar while you sing. I will incorporate that into my own Youtube videos. You'r e a great teacher!
Haha I'm just a mid twenties guy with a busy life. I put away my guitar a couple years back and get itchy for it here and there. Anyway your whole set on here is thoroughly enjoyed. It reminds me of how I used to sing with friends and we've all moved so far away from one another now. Thanks!
You seem pretty troubled. You have my support though and I think you can work it out.
wow amazing...im a young guitarist and i was wondering if youd be kind enough to write down the chords or tabs...id really appreciate it...your playing truly is amazing
I was thinking James Taylor, You've got a friend or maybe something by John Mares??? I wish I could play, I have a real nice takamine, but haven't found the time to learn. I just watch and listen.
opps.. not what I wanted to hear.. its never to late to do what you could have done.. music is for the soul.. play that lovely Takamine.. thats what its there for.. M
No, Ours are only a couple of hours, that would be so much fun. A festiveal here is like a carnavel with rides and booths to buy stuff. Come to think about it I think they have music FESTIVALS in the mountains. I will have to check it out....Well its time for me to start my day....If you have a
long list I will just enjoy what you play me right now.
Well you are right about this being better than a festival or as we would call it here a concert. I have a front row seat every night, how much better can it get. Do you also take requests?
I just found you tonight. You sang to me on a beautiful breezy evening in Colorado. I love this song and the chords. Thank you for a very peaceful evening. Thank-you so much for sharing yourself and talent.
Our festivals last from Friday evening until late Sunday night.. is that the same?? I like discovering new songs or reminded of old ones.. yes! but I have a long list lol. M:)
Brilliant Mike...as always! Thanks for doing this on the net I'd be lost without ya! I have learned dozens of songs from you and you dont even know me. You are a star! Keep on keeping on my friend...excellent song by the way!
Thanks Maxi. I will do now. The beauty of music is that there is endless possibilities of singing a song.. as many versions as there are people in the world right now...
you know what i was a folk singer during the 70's and this was one of my showcases.girls swoon on this song.brings me back down to memory lane.you sang it beautifully from the heart as far as im concerned so take my word you did good
Thanks for those lovely words. You have some great songs on your fav's. Why not up load some of your songs from the past. It might be fun and sharing is a nice way to reflect. Mike :).
I must say that you inspired me deeply, the first time iv'e heard this song, i took the time to buy Jim's album, and i played it ever since in my car...
by the way i love your version more...so i send you many thanx for introducing me to this magical music...
You told me you were good Mike. You didn't say just how good. Are you signed? Do you have CD's. This is meltingly beautiful. I am a new subscriber...and hooked!
opps I should have said I was ok (and only in my own lunchtime) No I'm not signed I'm afraid but I do have a scar on my left thumb from a seagull that bit me when I was eating an ice-cream in Barmouth. .I was nine at the time and it swooped down and grabbed at it.. (now where did that come from...) True story but seriously, thanks for your lovely and kind comments. I hope you have fun and maybe post some of your own funky folk stuff. M:)
Hi Rokgod.. tx don't know why its taken so long to do one of his songs, he was a hero of mine years ago. Some of the most beautiful songs.. I say some of is videos today for the first time.. that's what inspired me .. as well as saying thanks for kind words. Cheers .. M:)
Good evening Mike. Been a while.
Something so very special about every song you sing and play.
Just was listening to another YouTube friend singing this wonderful song, and saw your vid along the side.
Sorry it's been so long. Hope you are doing well.
