ive had this tune stuck in my head for years and never knew who sang it..all i new was the key lyrics nothing else..and thanks to youtube i finally find this song. thanks for posting this song. classics never die..
love or hate this kind of stuff you gotta kind of admit there wasn't then and isn't now much stuff that sounds like this. Really unique approach to pop music. You will never see a band in a bar going "Ok we are gonna do some covers now... first up couple of songs by Scritti Politti"
This is really a cool song... However, before I saw the video, I thought it was a girl as lead singer and it was a guy... Either who, it is still a great 80's tune with a nice beat...
I never quite could understand the appeal of Scritti Politti. Greenside's lyrics are adorably verbose and witty oftentimes, but the music to me generally is, to paraphrase Robert Christgau, "positively offensive banality". I don't intend to say that he's a bad song-writer, it is clear to me that he does this whole 80's pop-music thing rather well. Perhaps there is more than meets the eye, resp. the ear? I always enjoyed early SP and most of the "Songs to Remember" album - but the rest? Nah.
This takes me back to my senior year in high school (Class of '86).
