I have the same guitar except the headstock is natural instead of black like yours.
My neck pickup is real muddy sounding, so replacing it is a good idea. I was thinking of a Tele wide range HB.
Don't mean to be a jerk, but your kill switch is crap. I would have turned the rocker switches into on/off and took out the toggle switch and used a momentary switch for the kill switch.
funny story...i broke the "kill-switch" a few weeks ago lol yea. i really just didnt have any use for the switch any more, so i had it made into a kill switch. better than nothing. but yea, i definitely dont recommend that route, because those switches simply weren't meant for it
well, you have to ask urself several questions. first of all, do you love the guitar you want to upgrade? if yes, go to the second question: are the pickups in the guitar already good? in your case, that would be a definite yes, the '72 tele's have awesome pickups. however, you then have to determine if you want a different sound. would you ever use the tone that the current pickups provide you? if the answer to that is no or rarely, you might want to consider a pickup change.
you should buy that new Ibanez ORM1 Omar Rodriquez-Lopez Signature sick guitar man..

yeah i like the tone of my guitar, its good for the kinda stuff i usually play (radiohead, indie ect.)
For my next guitar i might get something which can get a better distorted tone, as thats something my guitar dosent handle as well as other guitars.
