  • Allegedly when Spaniards live in an illegal home for years and years the state turns a blind eye. This gives buyers the impression that everything is OK. As soon as a foreigner buys the property all hell breaks loose. Similar can happen even if you buy a 400 year old farmhouse. The Spanish can use the LAURO law to steal half your garden. They then send you the bill for knocking down your walls etc. I wouldn't touch Spain with a bargepole.

  • what a fucked up country. only stupid people would invest in Spain

  • If you want to experience a truly depressing economic landscape visit:Liverpool,Leeds,Birmingham and talk about the weather! May as well take in the Sun?

  • well thats put me off ever buying in spain, its not that great anyway

  • Sorry BBC & Watchdog you have yet again showed a bad picture full of holes and legalities you could never even begin to understand or comprehend. Many of these issues can be sorted out with the correct legal representation and documentation. I know because that's what I do and have done for over 20 years sorting out peoples problems and know all these laws. If you have a problem in Spain seek a Lawyer "SPECIALIZED" in URBANIZMO. Watchdog learn before broadcasting it's more professional.

  • Express demolition!! I read the news papers and watch the Spanish news everyday, sorry to say I have never heard of this one!!. 7:20 "Clear in the text" what text are we talking about here exactly, are we talking about new building texts, old building texts, new law texts Bit lost on this one! Illegal houses of long standing, how long standing? if one knows his or her house maybe illegal he or she would seek legal advice surely?. Financial crisis, unemployment, negative equity is this the UK?

  • Helen Prior's case. They had received notification that the property was going to be demolished and had appealed against this and was awaiting for it to be heard in court. If this is the case a demolishon order can not be served! Did the Police have on them this order? was there lawyer present to intervene? NO and in the end the house should not have not been demolished and they are awaiting compensation, this again needs an expert lawyer who is a specialist in this field .

  • She states that mayors were only to happy to oblige, so is the BBC stating here that this was done with intent if so I think the BBC need to make sure there reporters are careful about what they state publicly before they start an international problem. Point 2:30 If the lawyer had made sure the documentation passed by the local Government IE the Junta de Andalucia they would have known the answer at this point and so would the mayor!.

  • OK Let's start off with Bruce Hobday. He states he had many emails a day, and the developers "assured" him they had all the planning permissions, did the lawyer state this in a contract which can be used in court?. They planned to prosecute the builder SO the police know there was someone to blame them OH come on BBC do your homework please is pitiful!. The electricity supply would have been a "Conexion de Obra" a supply given while they are "building" this expired I would say not cut off!

  • If the lawyers or a Consulate registered lawyer had been used this would have been done. Unfortunately many people come over here and don't seek advice before they buy, these people did but got the wrong lawyer. Go to your consulate and ask for a list of good lawyers. These people can claim but they have to know how to do it, they can even get a free lawyer from the courts so let's watch and listen to her programme and what these Journalists DON'T know.

  • She states thousands of brits have lost their homes and have turned Andalucia their own Hu Hum... Excuse me you are visitors here Andalucia belongs to the Spanish....Thank you. If the lawyer working for these people had applied for an " Iforme Urbanistica" Building report to the Junta de Andalucia they would have known from the onset if these houses would have been legal or not all SO SIMPLE but was not carried out thus another illegal build, the lawyer should have done this first off.

  • As a Journalist and with 15 years experience in the sector she is talking about it is evident she is blurting away to a text roll machine and has no inner knowledge about what she is saying. The people who have got problems here can get their cases sorted out but insulting an Ambassador from Spain will not do the job, she may feel bigger by insulting him but she will NOT help these people with her attitude. The people concerned yes have been taken fro a run but they have redress if they know how

  • 3/4 of a Million Britons she says, so how much tax loss is that to the UK and why do they contractually stab Spain, where does the pay off by the UK Government take place to subsidize this hilarious masterpiece by the Company who come over here and film for the BBC and yes we know who you are and the Director. We have investigated you and what licenses you have infringed to film here!!. Do the boats in Seville bring memories back!!. STUDY your case before you publish.
