The point of the game that the hippo is playing is to set up a few little sticks in a certain area (in this cartoon's case, it was a little square), then take a big stick and throw it at them. All of the little sticks have to be knocked out of the area. Think bowling, but few minor changes.

Well the rabbit and wolf is a classic duo-preditor and a prey. So wolf is trying to catch the rabbit and eat it ( very much like as Tom chases Jerry in "Tom&Jerry") however this is a russian spin - Wolf s eat rabbits. Cute little rabbit is trying to save his life and not willingly, not always at least, gets wolf into painfull and funny situations.
