  • just out of curiosity, if you play 3 notes on one string of the pattern, is it common to keep the "unused" fourth fretting finger up and not on the board (which you can see often in electric guitar playing) ?

  • you forgot to mention that the pattern only works anywhere on the fretboard, as long as it's on the bottom four strings (EADG strings). The pattern changes on the top two strings (B and E strings) because of how the B string is tuned differently than all the other strings.

  • You look kind of like Nick Swardson. lol

  • Thankyou! Nice guitar by the way.

  • My strings are upside down :(

The fat strings are on bottem, but it feels wierd when i hold my guitar upside down

  • @lexladybug10 You cant use a righthanded guitar if ur lefthanded =)

  • The american dream is not alive because you can shoot off a bunch of fireworks

  • Ok.. I know how to play guitar.. pretty decent.. Im a metal guitarist... but I have 0 music theory.. I have NO idea what "keys" are or what the difference is between major or minor scales. Im sooo confused. Someone please help me by replying with a link or something that you think will help me thanks =]

  • try out guitarmanual.typepad.com for guitar instruction ebook and videos

  • you're a nice guy.

  • when you are doing the scale higher up on the neck, what do u pluck instead of the open e string

  • @cooladenyou1 the twelfth fret of every sting when played is the same as that string open so the pattern would just start on the twelfth fret of the low E instead of open E . hope it helped :D

  • Thanks I Finally Got My First Scale :D

I'm Self-Teaching Myself , So If There's Any Guitar Pros Out There , Who Have Good Tips Please Message Me .??

    Thank You (:

  • I know that guitar, it's pretty damn expensive, IDK why though, a bit overpriced in my opinion.

  • an expertvillage video that doesn't suck hard :O

  • vjvj

  • So you play eight notes per scale which is an octave right???

  • @806brayden yup, the eigth note is the same as the first note of the scale

  • @806brayden xDDDDDDDD

  • Learn your open chords first (Chords that involve your open strings, such as G)

  • Start with major. Then minor then dimished. Then go into all of the other chords like add9 and sus4 And ect. Then go into major scales then minor scales then dim scales. Then go to the modes. I am stuck on these myself but once your brain figures them out they are easy

  • is this the g major scale?

  • Great explaining!

  • good teaching

  • Nice video. Question: Is the purpose of the scale so that you have an ascending or descending pattern when you play, while keeping it within the same key? I am trying to wrap my head around scales and appreciate the help.

  • scales are for knowing your way around the fret board. also for learning music theory. everything you play has a scale in it. from chords to just messing around with single note patterns.

  • so if someone is learning they should start out by mastering the scales?

  • yes. learn your chords then scales. it will be easier for a beginner to learn in that order. at least for me it did

  • i agree darkpeach 123, i screwed myself up cuz a long while back when i was on my first year all i did was mess around, i could shred really good by my first year, but what good is shredding if you cant have a good melody to back it up, or scales to play it with, or chords for the chorus of the song?
