  • im 17 now how i wish i was born in like 1960 so i would grow up listening to the gods of music.

  • 10 ignoranti hanno visitato questa pagina.

  • Went to see Bowie a couple of times in concert. Absolutely superb. One time Terence Trent Derby was backing (not memorable). I'm sure it was in the 80's. Can any one tell me where the venue could have been. Cheers Richard. Long time Bowie fan.

  • in his death we will lose a man who lived 3 lives 1 a father2 a great showman 3 a good freind to all that listened and heard what thay needed to hear in his music some went to the (ALIAN) I WENT TO THE BOWIE... thanks mate.... joe....... down uder

  • One of my all time favourite songs, brilliant !!

  • the 'life on mars' vid from the vh1 storytellers is gone. i recall it being on the official bowie youtube page. how strange. maybe it was a dream. i love that this is on here though...even though, it has been on here for awhile now.

    serious moonlight, seriously.

  • MISS YOU MY SSISTER JENNA...THIS IS FOR YOU...THE FUNERAL IS TOMORROW...OH GOD..I MISS YOU ALREADY...CANNOT TYPE ANYMRE...GEM..YOUR GEM..MY SISTER...,,,,H

  • Bowie "with the big pants" lol. Time to do a duet with David Byrne's big suit. Not my favorite version, since the whole thing becomes tragic (not to mention David's hairdo..).

Best is to listen to the song as the heart of Hunky Dory (imo), but thanks anyway.

  • @pickyantivirus david gilmour*

  • grandissimo........ciao ricky the voice

  • shit

  • Doe99nyc..Man, are U mistaken ! Bowie played his "Isolar tour" in 1988, Serious Moonlight, was in 1993, so just 5 Years, Between !.

I was at that show as this one, and every tour until his last , naturally was "Reality"..

    Just a Freindly, FY...t

  • @supersonicbird11 Don't you mean 1983

  • @supersonicbird11

Actually, the Isolar Tour was in 1976 in support of the Station to Station Album.

And this, the Serious Moonlight tour, happened in 1983. Opened in May of '83 if memory serves me correctly...we all make mistakes though, ce'st la vie.

  • Bowie is a monster and this song a hymn

  • i was THERE!!!!! in my last year of HS, i stood on line outside MSG for 6 hours ( for orchestra seats) 'cause Bowie hadn't played in the US for almost 10yrs and I had to be there, as close to him as possible, of course! Funny, i saw Tin Machine in an intimate club

yrs later and it felt like miles away but at MSG, i felt closer to the magik that is David Bowie then i did a foot away from the stage. must have been the music, and the whole vibe was different. In my humble opinion, at least.

  • Regards to marynia the point of the lyrics and the question is there life on mars !!!

Is lets get away from this world is there life elsewhere can we go there had enough of this world. The great escape love on ya

  • Thanks for this!

I missed the 70's... was too young in the 80's... was busy/distracted in the 90's...

But, damn... if David Bowie doesn't give me chills (In a good way!).

Just watched a video of "Mars" from his '06 Reality Tour...

David: You look amazing, sound fantastic... and you still give me chills (In a very good way!).

    Peace to You and Yours.

  • @wendylambmusic This is a great song, like all of his songs. I saw him 3 times live....no better concert out there. I'm sure your sister is in heaven listening to it. Always think of her when you hear it, thats what our memories are for.....peace and love

  • or even what???

  • Waht has you tube done?????

  • Dan it went right into Station to Station...

  • No gemma she always went to the cinema alone...until she could no longer see the screen,as her tears flowed into her eyes...then she came alive honey...I love you honey...miss you...have a beautiful life...you will.

    All my xxxx n ohs...

    Jeff

  • beautiful

  • Love it.

  • I was to two Reality Tour shows.2003/2004. I would say it was better with him singing without a backup. Plus he did a trick or whatever you might call it by singing the exact tune without changing or lowering the high notes. I think I cried a litttle.

  • I saw the "Serious Moonlight" tour in Anaheim.

    Wow!! Bad hair!!!

  • @wendylambmusic =[ ...and yes Bowie is just amazing

  • I love his hair here lol Love this man amazing song!

  • to papie XIII... i think you are searching (live is life from "opus") sorry for my english... i'm not italian.

this is a very beatugil song but i prefer the studio version.

  • No, its not that song... but gracie... or whatever :]

  • Man :[

Im searching a song... but i dont know if its from bowie. Its goin "LA - LA LA LA LA - LA LA LA LA"

I THINK its from the 80s... can someone help me?

  • Sandra Maria Magdalena

  • david bowie and iggy pop that song you search is named " the passenger"

  • @PapieXIII Starman! At the end

  • the passenger

  • It's easy to do. Bowie is amazingly talented, breathtakingly charismatic and divinely sexy. A civilization is remembered primarily for its architecture, literature and music. Bowie will outlive us all.

  • just dropped in to listen to this beautiful song, could not believe the outrageous comments. Would the song be any different if he was or not gay? It's like we are still in medieval times. Education and respect is the key I am sure...

  • I wouldn't put it past him, he's like the chuck norris of music.

  • Even better man! he's like the Bruce Campbell of music :D

  • negative ,negative,negative, listen to the production of this song,how it was created...hes a geious,along side,freddy mercury,michel jackson,and elton john,all fukin gay!!!

  • I thought he was the one playing the piano :(

  • Rick Wakeman played the piano and aided in the arrangement of this song on the album. Bowie can play many instruments, but he has always enlisted the help of many a talented musician. He is the artiste', the frontman, whatever persona is required to tell a story. Brilliant performer, and, IMHO, a true genius. Peace:-)

  • Does it get any better than this? I don't think so.

  • @ZiggyPlay3dGuitar ... SO?!

Stardust as a persona, and the respective album are in fact considered some of his best work, especially in respect to most played.

Just because his character's androgynous doesn't mean it's not an awesome Stage persona or awesome album.

  • @ZiggyPlay3dGuitar.. Bowie married a beautiful model. Of course he looks fem. thats the idea!! He has played a mime, a space alien, and many other "persons" as an actor. Think whatever helps you feel secure in your own closet "masculine" world. are you aware that originally there were NO women in acting? Only men dressed as women. Even as recently as Vaudeville, men portrayed women in theatre. Educate yourself (if possible) before prooving your ignorance in public.....

  • lyric sites say "look at those cavemen go" but it always sounds like "look at those gay men go" to me

  • if David Bowie is not a man, not a girl, not Ziggy Stardust, even not the man who fell to earth, I conclude he is God. Am I rigt ?

  • rigt

  • Yes, he is!!!

  • Reminds me of something I heard once saying David Bowie is a closet heterosexual. Thought it was funny anyways.

  • lol

  • oh my fucking god this rocks

  • Where can i send George Underwood 10,000$?

  • It's a great song but obviously in this performance there's someone singing along him and at times he's barely really heard

  • this music goes ace in the life on mars tv series

  • To be honest, I love this version without high notes. I find them a little bit theatrical (which is ok, they propably are supposed to be this way), and for me this performance seems to be more genuine. In the original or Reality Tour version the question "is there life on mars?" is desperate, here it sounds more rhetorical and pesymistic. I like it! (Although im not sure if this whole comment makes sense :-))

  • @marynia12345 lol if it doesn't, well, I'm with you...LOL

  • your a ginious ( iprobably wrote it all wrong- suit me)

  • Superb, stupefying, no less. The artist at the top of his talents. Carlos Alomar is shining too.

  • That 's David Bowie

    The best!!!

  • i. love. this. tour!!! i need to buy the dvd

  • Nothing like watching Bowie sing....ahhh

  • great performance! BRAVOOOO!

  • What is up with those Aladdin pants? MC Hammer.....time?

  • The pants are a 1980's reproduction of the high waisted full leg pants from the 1950's -- the Zoot Suit. The "costumes" Bowie wore for the Serious Moonlight Tour were designed by Peter J.Hall. The whole band looked like an ultra-hip send up of 1950's post-colonial chic.

  • Zoot suits were worn in the 1930s and 1940s, but that is the look they're recreating here.

  • I love David Bowie

  • We all Love David Bowie

  • good

  • Bowie never tries for those high notes during live performance. I can't any song where he does so.

  • Its not high notes. Its called singing woth power and I've seen him 3x over the course of 12 years and he's done it all 3x I've seen him. He's incredible!

  • I think your right. The life on mars he does were he looks like a pretty girl, (studio?) I think is the best sounding version.

  • A lot of commenters here seem not to know that this was filmed 26 years ago.

  • wtf's up wi'the conan obrien look?

  • A DVD of Reality Tour 2004 is coming out. It was unbelievable he sang every high note perfect on this song. I had a lump in my throat. Saw the show in NYC and New Orleans.

  • It's been out for a while. I recently picked it up. It is quite awesome.

  • For some reason, I find David Bowie's 'serious moonlight' look very attractive. But maybe it's just because he's David Bowie... :)

  • it is...i mean he never not sexy....but serous moonlight was SUPER sexy...its the trousers...for sure

  • What's with the Billy Idol look =)

  • it's his thin white duke character

  • Great performance!

  • oops meant roger waters didn't notice that

  • 3:13

    Ho, man!

  • Awesome, but at the same time, a little disappointing. The power behind this song is when he hits that high note, and that's been completely vanquished by handing that task over to the backup singer. Sigh. Oh well.

  • I adore my Bowie!!!!!!

  • Ever thought he is getting Old and cannot reach those notes any more.

    Still a Classic act.

  • I feel the same way about david waters, his vocals on live 8 were terrible but what a brilliant song writer

  • Yea he does have a very masterful, powerful voice.

  • Love his deeper chest voice but I miss him doing the high notes instead of harmonizing.

  • david bowie always scares the crap outta me.....but hes still cool.

  • See, now I'm interested, and I can't find anything on it. Please explain this, I'd really love to know.

  • I looked all over, and can't figure it out. Why don't you just save me the effort and tell me why he doesn't sing that line haha Did he rip it off or something?

  • Davide najbolji si jebavala te kurčina od pere matičića

  • MUCHO LOTE DAVID ERES LO MAXIMO

  • fracking fabulous...

  • Love the bass actually...

  • It actually sounds better than the recorded version

  • I always loved this live version...Bowie's voice, when deep like this, is awesome.

  • one of the best songs ever

  • Whatever happened to the "she could spit in the eyes of fools" line? I miss it!

  • i have a college diploma in music but nothing is ever gonna make me learn about music like bowie.. :) how beautifull is his character and charisma ... long live David !!!!

  • Bowie's song's are just Amazing, he is just amazing how he works and entertains everyone are amazing, Bowie Forever!!!

  • Okay....listened to Streisand's cover...didn't make it past 1:50....I don't have anything against her, but that cover really sucked.

  • He tells a funny story on 'Story Tellers' about Streisand's boyfriend/hairdresser producing her version of Life on Mars? The dvd of Story Tellers has just been released.

  • I'll have to give it a listen....thanks for the info!

  • I would love to see him live. Is he touring? When is he touring?

  • I would LOVE to know what Bowie thinks of Adam Lambert's rendition of his songs. I think they're great and keeps these classics current and new. But I really would like to hear from him what he thinks.

  • He didn't like Barbra Streisand's cover of this song, life on mars? But I bet he likes Adam.

  • OMFG....Barbra Streisand did a cover of Life on Mars???? This I have to hear....searching right now! I would have to ask.....what was in her mind??? And I haven't even heard it yet!

  • Says who? I checked everywhere online, David Bowie is clean. (from HIV atleast...)

  • I thought this was good I guess. I have it on dvd but I really wish there were more videos of him in the 70's than Ziggy Stardust Motion Picture. Don't get me wrong he was always great but the 70's Bowie is really, really, realllyy great.

  • the uniq good in 70's in BOWIE

  • Intense performance ;)

  • prechorus. yaaaaaaaaay. go prechorus.

  • David Bowie "VH1 Storyteller" out now on DVD/CD and Digital Download

  • David Bowie "VH1 Storyteller" out now on CD/DVD and Digital Download

  • your kidding right?

  • Bowie is awesome! Now Adam Lambert will be performing a trilogy of Bowie songs during the A.I. tour and bring to light these powerful songs! David will be proud :-)

  • Forget American Idol pretenders... they always make the songs sound like cheap pop crap. That guy that sang Silly Boy Blue did a terrible job. Bowie deserves more than that. But, for sure, he must love this free publicity!

  • Love it!!!! :D Such a beautiful and powerful music

  • is he crying?

  • In my opinion this is the best version of Life on Mars. I think it is far superior to the albums and to any other version I've seen live or on video in the last 26 years. However I get the impression I'm the only one who loves the serious moonlight tour. A pity David Bowie made a shit load of money on it and now denounces his work during this period.

  • fegof, but thats how he is, he moves on. changes completely, born anew with each era. if he really liked a certain persona, he wouldnt have changed it.

he never gets bored, and its part of him to denounce the old to do different

  • David Bowie is uber-fucking-cool.

  • Esta cancion me da miedo

  • JAJAJAAJ por que? para tanto? 0o

  • I love this song, the video and her wonderful singer.......Immortal DAVID........

  • j'aimais pas trop Bowie mais cette chanson est en phase de devenir ma chanson préféré elle me fout des frissons ^^

  • Eh oui, ce cher vieu il ne finirà jamais de nous etonner.....

  • GOOSEBUMPS...GOOSEBUMPS....GOOSEBUMPS!!! The hair's standing on the back or my neck and EVERYthing! THANKS FOR SHARING!!! :)))

  • i really wanted to be there when i was 15 years old.

  • great song

    prefer his style in 70's

  • Love this song,. and His Look here.. : )

  • best ever!!!!!

  • No other word but epic.

  • Wonderful...the only one!

  • i cry and laugh by hearing this song :)

    bowie....perfection...

  • Fucking amazing.... David is so great!!!

  • Omb his voice is the most amazing ever, enjoy this while u can- never will ther be another Bowie NEVERRR:(

  • join the club

  • this words and melody... remarkable fucking bowie

  • Nobody Like Bowie, We are all lucky to be a part of knowing his music. no matter how old or young you are. Simply and devastatingly exquisite.

  • Unfortunately, there will never be another even close to his talent/presence. Enjoy this people.

  • perfect...

  • me2

  • Serious Moonlight was my very first concert! I was only 13 - no worries - I went with my mom! I was just as amazed by Bowie then as I am now. This concert was absolutely incredible - he sang (and danced) out with his entire body and soul! Every time he smiled that beautiful smile, it was like I received an electric shock! Thank you so much for being my "first"!
