  • I heard Bruce Wayne purchased the mansion. x3

  • Ooooh, doc -- you're gonna have a lot of 'splainin' to do now that two of the people from your little experiment are dead and one is injured!

  • 00:09 what is this woman? I see that it can be Eleanor's mother, according to a necklace.

But otherwise a nice character to the portrait

  • Part 12?

  • cheeseball ending. I never get why Hollywood wastes money on remakes that are nothing like the originals. Just make a different movie, geesh. I did like the beginning at least...

  • 1:29 Beauty and the Beast moment !

  • One of my favorite movies ever....:)

  • I remember being really creeped out by this movie when I saw it on VHS for the first time. I've watched it a few more times since then and honestly it just keeps getting worse and worse. Conversley, the original movie just keeps getting better and better. I saw the original long after I saw this remake and it terrified me completley, its still pretty effective in fact. This one's silly, kinda unintentionally funny though. I will say Jerry Goldsmith's score is good and the house looks awesome.

  • liam neeson is amazing in everything hes in, forreal

  • Wow, I had the urge to watching this repetitively for a few days so this is the 4th time I've watched it in 3 days

  • Look how big Hugh Crain is; Dabo Swinney should recruit him to play nose guard for Clemson; Lord knows they could use him.

  • Mischievous, great flick. I was searching the internet to find which estate the film was shot... and was surprised when I read this film was shot down by critics. It's an enjoyable watch. Thanks for sharing and don't listen to critics.

  • thank you so much for uploading this video......

  • Wtf!! U should put these for mobile version 2 now i cant see the endibg!!!

  • Eleanor was a hero, she saved her two friends plus the kids while sacrificing herself to defeat Hugh Crain but don't hate cuz this is just my opinion.

  • @RyanHayes1984 Hugh Crain was a huge ass ghost though :o

  • @RyanHayes1984 Forreal!!!!! Big ol let me come out of my own picture type ghost!!!!

  • but is she really dead

    ..

    ~

  • @rexsale354 She went to Heaven with the children :(

  • @rexsale354 Ughh, like DUH. Did you not see her soul come out of her living body?

  • this isent horror ....the only scary part is when that blond boys head is sliced off......grusome

  • This was okay. Insidious is better in my opinion, but I thought this had some good stuff in here =)

  • they should make a movie about a hollywood artist who sculpts the scary statues for movie sets and who ends up being terrorized by his own creations. THAT would be a cool movie. and may be they could have a guy who actually does that kind of work play the role in the movie of the sculpturer who's terrorized by his own evil demonic-looking creations....

  • @qwyzl i would totally watch that

  • @qwyzl I just got chills. I would totally watch that!! :D did you see that idea somewhere, or did you come up with it yourself?

  • @SK84ANGELDUST came up with it my self.

  • very nice movie , l think it was very exciting to watch ...imagine this was real and we all would be running out the house like little girls halfway trough-out this movie haha .. some just dont know how to watch a good horror

  • dun wanna be contradicting to masses but i would like to add. People are disensitized to horrors such as murder, struggle of survival and other such you put into movies. We see horrible things throughout our lives as we grow older, watch movies where directors COMPETE to create the bloodiest scariest way to kill or torture people and we barely blink. If i threw u into a house where corpses and creepy children carvings where talking to you i dun imagine you would be so critical in the plot

  • meh...a little bit far fetched for me, i would not put it in the horror or thriller category. more like fantasy comedy, haha

  • I was like 4 years when I saw this movie and it freaked me out. but now I could understand it and Now I love the movie!!

  • heehee. that lady is like "silly people" and i am thinking here the whole time "why are you smirking? gotta lot to clean up over there" :)

  • soundtrack is good..

  • ok I would really be like WHAT THE HOLY HELL IS THAT!!!!!

  • Loved this movie as a kid! I remember I kept dropping my popcorn. Thank you so much for uploading.

  • And seriosuly guys, this movie is bad. It was panned by critics and is just not scary. The only reason why this movie is up on youtube is becuase that is the only way this movie will have any hope of being remembered.

Just becuase a movie is on youtube doesn't mean you praise it.

  • @1234yersiman your crazy this movie is awsome and it scared me as a child and now it still scary

  • @mewt66 You serious it still scares you? It has the plot of a regular disney movie and the overdone CGI effects are just laughable, even by the standards of 1999.

If you really want to see a proper movie, just see the original.

  • @1234yersiman Critics don't know everything. There's movies that mean a lot to people and don't necessarily have to be the greatest movie of all time. A lot of ppl grew up with this and it's enjoyable for them to watch. You have your opinion about it, doesn't mean we all agree.

  • @sumoni But the majority of the population does not find overdone CGI and a cartoonish plot scary. See the original if you want to know what I mean.

  • @1234yersiman I have seen it. I enjoyed that version as well. To each his own.

  • This is a really weak remake. Not bad choices for actors, but they should have taken away the childishness and made it more of a psychological thriller. With 1999 technology, they could have built a scary atmosphere and made it more beilevable.

CGI is only good when used correctly, like when it looks realistic enough, or when that is what the film is meant to be like (like Sin City), so CGI should have been left out completely.

  • thank God Catherine didnt die!

  • 9:56 BULLSH*T!!!!!

  • this film caused nostalgic critic to go even more insane

  • @cainster The movie wasn't that bad. The Nostalgic Critic is only appealing to bias fans. Unbias fans like myself injoyed the movie. I found it scary.

  • This was one of my favorite horror films back when I was little, the part when he descends down the stairs was always my favorite and the music always gives me chills. The graphics were pretty good for 1999 though some of the acting was a bit hacky, but its to be expected from an older movie. The Haunting of Hill House will always be on my top haunted house movies <3

  • @ChaoticNakka Did you call a film from 1999 'old'?

  • @ellbo2 Yes, it is fairly old, about 12 years to be exact. I was still little when I saw it after all.

  • @ChaoticNakka Meh. I will not class that as old. You do know that films have been around for over 100 years? In fact the first film shown for public consumption was 1896.

  • @ellbo2 Yes I am full aware that there are movies much older and I still have the first version of the movie as well. But I class movies in a different way and to me it is fairly old. My opinion shall not change.

  • @ChaoticNakka I'm not trying to change your opinion, hopefully it did not come across in that way.

  • One of the BEST Horror films out there! ^_^ Not all about blood guts and gore! Thanks for uploading! =D

  • how come catherine accepted to play in a piece of crap like this. for chrissake she is married to the douglas dinasty how come she ends up here ?

  • Thanks for sharing.. Such a nice movie...

  • ha that skeleton pwmed ucrane at the end

  • Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

  • This movie fucking sucks, I can't believe I watched all of it. Failboat goes on a safari.

  • wow this was shitty

  • And I thought that castle looked familiar. Its in Leciester, England. And has been in 12 other productions.

  • This movie grossed over $177 million in the box office. Take from that what you will... :)

  • I thought it was scary as shit when I was younger!! Giving it its due, probably the scariest "12" rated movie I have ever seen.

  • this will always be part of my childhood. The mansion, everything classic always has a place in my heart. And yes, a good fairytale story too. gotta get a cop of this film.

  • Say What You Will, But Even Thought This Wasn't The Most Famous Or Popular Movie Out There, Its Always Been My Favorite Movie Of All Time :) I Remember Seeing This When I Was About 5 In he Movie Theater :) Damn 12 Years Ago!!... Time Goes So Fast!!!

P.S. THANKS SO MUCH TOO THE ONE WHO UPLOADED THIS YOUR THE BEST!! I Have The DVD And iTunes Versions!

  • i love this movie its not zat scarry

  • I don't carewhat nobody say this will always be one of the scariest movies I've ever scene!

  • If it ever came out that Eleanor was the heir of Hugh Crane , that means her bitchy sister Jane is also , That means she, her rotten husband and their bratty son can inherit the house . lol

  • Why did She Die? Did Her Heart Stop?

  • @jaykel911 Her body was slammed full force against the stone doors .

  • This has GOT to be the worst haunted house movie i've ever seen. WAYY too stereotypical and predictable. They tried way too hard.

I'd rather see The Shining or The Others ANY day.

  • the only reason i stook it till the end was because the castle looked fantastic, however the story and acting was crappy...next...

  • thank you so so so so so much for uploading this!

  • Zeta Jones is hot

  • aw so beautiful

  • opens gate lets theo and doc. out... oh by the way theres a dead girl in the middle of the floor and a guys head rolling around in the fire place.... yeah we city folk sure know how to party. XD

  • Eleanor shouldnt have died... this is a stupid movie it hardly made any sense!

  • Typical dissatisfying, over-the-top, melodramatic ending :(

  • lol when the ghosts pull that ghost dude into the wall and elanore woman died XD

  • This wasnt really a horror... more like a thriller/drama. The only time i got the chills was when theo undid her top at the beginning. :P

  • I just love the inside of that castle. All those old statues and carvings on the ceilings. I´d love to live there.

  • i though caroline never had children i only thought his first wife had a child named abigal lol how is caroline her great great great grandmother

  • @jamie201120 The first wife had children but they all died. She hung herself, but Hugh Crane remarried. Caroline was Hugh Crane's second wife but she ran away and had a family of her own. So that's why Eleanor is her descendant. that help?

  • @treevixenbiofreak yeah but why did elanor call hugh crane her grandpa when hes not related

  • @jamie201120 Well she actually could be related to him. Caroline could have been pregnant at the time she ran away. But I think Eleanor is more referring to the fact that they have one thing in common, that one thing being their connection to Caroline. Still not convinced? *shrugs* oh well. it doesn't really matter a whole lot since it's just a movie. lol!

  • im scared now haha im only 18 like haha

  • XD cool

  • haha the decapitation was sooooo cheesy xD

  • awesome movie :)

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the little song that was in hte music box and they play it at the end of the cridets? thanks.

  • this was soooo boring...

  • Lol. "City people" ... xD

  • Wonder how they're going to explain all of that 0_0 Awesome movie.

  • You know I like the story a lot better than the original. I think if it was seperate, it could've been a critical success. The CGI was a little too much, acting could've been better. But hey, I still love this film. The sets are hauntingly beautiful

  • Shit actress.

  • Now I know why critics(who were usually wrong) hate this... it's more fantasy than horror... as a fantasy film this is stacked with pan's labyrinth

  • @crimsloch So are the critics wrong about The Dark Knight? Inception? Saving Private Ryan? The list is endless and did you really compare this to Pan's Labyrinth? This is NOTHING like Pan's Labyrinth.

  • 'Purgatory over you go to hell' best onliner in this movie

  • thanks 4 the upload. great movie.

  • Ok, so over all, I think that had a dumb plot

  • Wait wait wait. So...They're just gonna leave lukes dead body, and rolled away head. In there?

  • @babybunkerboox do you really expect them to get the body?? they are most likely thinking about just surviving the night!!

  • @carr887 Well yeah o_o I mean they got rid of all the bad shiz at the end...Wouldn't they even bury him or something decent?

  • is hugh her grand father than? an if so why didnt he try kill that child?

  • this is one dumb ending

  • Emma, please, Please, PLEASE!! I can't view part 11 of the Haunting on my blackberry! It says not available on Mobile! I LOVE this movie! Can u help? Thanks SO much!!!

  • i just dont understand why Eleanor has to die though :(

  • Not available on MOBILE???? After I've watched the first 10 parts!?!? That sucks!!!

  • I found the house's website and on Google Map. It's found under: Harlaxton College University Of Evansville, Harlaxton Manor, Grantham, United Kingdom

  • Well I suppose anyone can live there peacfully now...they were real deal Ghosbusters lol.

  • That place is in serious need of a swiffer.

  • I wonder, does this mansion really exists, or is it all digitally created. This place is huuuge.

  • @pittim the outside house exists... it's called harlaxton manor, in England. but i think the inside of the house is just studio work

  • i love this movie! This is the best horror film i have ever seen... First saw it on hbo a couple of years ago, since then, it has never failed to scare my socks off.thank you for uploading it. :)

  • I do have to say I've always been interested by this movie since I saw it when I was like...five. It posts on the psychological yet realistic points of horror and fear~<3 Ah...Makes me kind of scared to trace my ancestors though. XD Thanks for uploading this! Haven't been able to find it anywhere! D8 Can't wait to watch it with my girl this weekend~<3

  • @deidarasempai13 Oh my gosh me too...! --i ve been trying to find it for years. I saw this movie when i was 5 also...i was watching scary movie 2 the other day; so i decided to do some research. I found it..!!!

Thanks for posting this btw..! @MischievousSecret

  • Good film Rose red is better

  • I had just watched the original 1963 classic before this, and I expected to be dissapointed....but I really thought it was a great film. Maybe a bit too much CGI but it was very well done, and it did not try to mimic the original classic. Question:- I know both these house's exist.. but the interior of this house, does it bear any resembelance to the film set.? If not, it must have cost a bomb to make. Many thanks for the download...All segments worked here in the UK.

  • That just left me feeling empty. Boring all the way through and then a load of CGI rammed down your throat at the end. Meh.

  • Terrible film. What is most frustrating is the fact that they took out what made the orginal scary. The fear of the unknown. Hopeless here 'is whats gonna happen script , just passable performances and overload of crappy lifeless GCI and story that never bursts into life. Thanks for uploading. ( I don't mean that in a sarcastic way as I currently comparing orginals to remakes)

  • @ellbo2 Yes, but you'd have to admit that the sets are pretty impressive and original. Other than that this film is terrible.

  • @mizkex I agree, they were very good.

  • @ellbo2 Uh I think the point is called The Haunting becausing is what ghost due best. HAUNT! What you don't believe in ghost? Next you'll be saying you don't believe in God.

  • @Gekkou25 Three questions. What on earth are you talking about? Did you mean to reply to me? and where the hell did I say I don't believe in ghosts?

  • @ellbo2 Oh um I think because the 1999 remake is scarier the the classic. I don't know about you but having a part of your room staring at like in the movie is scarier than playing mind games with someone. That been done to death. Just ask Scarecrow. But being by an actually scared by a non coporeal ethereal cross dimensional spiritual negative unnatural prensence that's scary.

  • @Gekkou25 I love ghost stories. Don't get me wrong, a good movie makes me believe in them. This just didn't for me. The 1963 film is about the same thing, the major difference is you do not see them but you know they are there, for me the effect is far stronger. Plus the effects here were not convincing enough to be effective.

  • @ellbo2 I thought the CGI wasn't bad for it's time. I don't know about you but if my room comes alive and a face coming out of my ceiling or the lion statues growling and roaring I be scared beyond rational thinking.

It emulates haunting that's be reported. Granted no ghost in real life can manipulate a statue to come to life like that. If ghost were as powerful as they are in the movies. It would take more than a priest with a bible to get rid of them.

  • those housekeepers or whatever, they knew what happend and what went on in that house ??

  • wow, symbolic reference when Nell is held on the door by the Statue Guard thingies. If you dont know what I mean, look at her pose. it looks exactly like Jesus Christ on the cross.

  • @Nfan22 Yeah, and both are fictional characters, hahaha.

  • hey thanks for uploading this... i must say, the effects of the eagle-head sphinx or what the hell ever that was was really kewl compared against the special effects of the 'sorcerer's apprentice' n considering it was made more than a decade old...

  • Man, I dunno. How the screen writers could look at the original movie and then come up with this crap is totally beyond me.

  • @didikaramba Yeah this version got progressively worse the longer I watched it. I havent seen a turd this stinky since my last bowel movement. Bad story, bad directing and awful cgi. I like the moral of the "story" though-

Dont kidnap your slave labor and kill them for your own twisted ends or it will come back and HAUNT you. ZING!

  • This was the best movie horror/thriller movie I've seen in the past decade. They just don't make em like this anymore...

  • best entrance ever point blank...came out that painting like a boss

  • This movie was okayy but the original The Haunting was better

  • you know it be awesome if at the end they totally just pull a wizard of oz moment and theyre all like "you were sleeping!!"

  • End of the Movie: Ummmm... I know we said we'd try to keep the place clean and all while u were gone... but ummm... it'd prbly be best if we left before you go inside >.>

  • This is a really good movie! Totally underestimated.

  • "Oh, no!" exclaimed as if the cookies burned in the oven is not exactly the response I'd expect to hear from someone who just witnessed a decapitation.

  • To Luke and Nell: Get out of the way, stupid!

  • i remember as i kid thinking "Shit How am I going to sleep"

  • @MrPhoto143 its been 11 years and its 1 am and im still thinking the same fuckin thing hahah

  • i have watched all the parts and honestly, IT WAS WONDERFUL! i loved it! I loved how she never backed down, 2 save the chidren. I'm putting all tha scenes and parts on my fav's so whoever goes 2 my pafe, they can all see wat a wonderfull movie this is. it almost looked like 3d most the time i really enjoyed it! :)

  • 2:43 what an entrance for a villain... god i remember watching this and thinking how amazing that entire scene was. The explosion out of the portrait, the descent down the stairscase. I can't help to think how fucked she is, even tho good guys always win. This movie had the perfect soundtrack and a very deep atmosphere, and this climax certainly delivers. Excellent scene!

  • 5:37 Hugh Crain: "NOOooo..." Figure at the door: "STFU!" *thump!* XD

  • Yeah... he probably regrets building that door.

  • Absolutely LOVE this movie!! thanks for uploading it!

  • 2:40 hey! They edited it out, cos she turns around because he calls her name- "ELLLLLEAANNOOOORRR!" in a groany ghost way, it's not the same effect without it

  • I love this movie.

  • thanks so much for uploading this! :)

  • This is nothing like the book, which I think is much better. Jackson, the author of The Haunting of Hill House, I think would've liked it though, even with the special effects. She was clairvoyant and was involved in the supernatural for much of her life. The acting was mediocre, the script not very good, and the plot messy but still, over all, a good way to get freaked out a little.

    Thanks for posting, MischievousSecret!

  • Thanks for posting. Silly note for gamers: The Doctor in this movie is the voice of "Dad" in the Fallout 3 game.

  • @rif33 i knew i recognized him! i thought it was oblivion. yeah i got mixed up

  • so now eleanors dead does tht mean the whole mansion will be named after her annoying sister n her stupid son?

  • thank you for uploading this. still one of my favorite horror movies. ending is epic :D

  • how could the woman in the potrait be her great great grandmother if all her children had died? means that evil dude is her great great grandpa?

  • @rosiedosie i know this has been a long while since you saw this but i can explain. The first wife was Renee she killed herself, Hugh's Crain 2nd wife was Carolyn which Nell descends from. Nell says that Carolyn ran away from Crain. so basically all of the 1st Wife's late children would have been(if they were alive) Carolyns children(since renee killed herself) meaning the children were Nells great grandaunts and uncles.

  • Shirley Jackson must be rolling in her grave,

  • @MattActorGordon what does the movie have to do with her?

I know she was a writer but i dont know much about her

  • @BooshgaFilms Shirley Jackson wrote "The Hauntng of Hill House," the novel on which this movie is based. The novel and the 1963 movie relied on suspense to convey a feeling of terror. In fact, nary a ghost is seen in neither the book or the original film. The remake is full of ridiculous special effects, the plot is contrived, the acting is atrocious, and the whole thing is completely unbelievable, something a horror movie must be in order the make the viewer fearful.

  • @MattActorGordon i thought this was a family film....

until that guy got his head taken clean off

i guess this is more of a fantisy movie

  • @BooshgaFilms It's SUPPOSED to be horror. But the only thing horrifying about it is the writing.

  • Is it Pearl Harbour? This movie looks like Pearl Harbour inside a castle...very odd story. The special effects are astounding, I could change career into art just for the special effects, really really really

  • eleanor sacrificed herself...flor the redemption of the children and her soul.

  • I liked it more as a kid, but it's not bad, i still like it.

At least Catherine is alive :D (just kidding)

I have to watch the original.

  • Thanks! I haven't seen this in a long time :)

  • When the ghost dude tried getting out of the gate the statue guy was like GET BACK I
