Having a bad day at work? Hard times at home? This song is such an UPLIFTER! God bless JB Lenoir! John Mayall wrote a tribute to him after he died....check it out.
Just gotta say, the sound quality on this is really good! I just have to re-visit this little clip every once in a while....are you TAPPING YOUR FOOT?
I'm so glad you put them chills up my spine...! Man oh man oh Man! The best and most overlooked blues man of his day....Does anyone in the YouTube universe have a complete version of this video?
Short and sweet & kinda neat! Probably one of very few music vids J.B. ever did. And with the lyrics added so we can sing along! He originally recorded this 4 the USA record label.
uhm not exactly XD. Two people from sweden accidently ran into him in a club, they were so impressed that they filmed him for the Swedish natiol television. This is one of their clips.
The one thing I like best about you tube is the fact that I can see so many great acts that I would normally never see or hear. I know a lot of the artists don't like their music on here and some are removing theirs. The fact is, this is a great way for so many to see and hear what they would never see otherwise. I have never heard of this guy before today. It is amazing to me where all you will go when you surf here and just look and listen to so many great artists.
Whitelinedrifter, 99% of people who DO listen to blues or early rock don't know him. He only did a few recordings before he died. He never had the chance to hit the big time.
The man was amazing. He was so ahead of his time. If only these days had a better, less fad-based, taste in good music.
PS,
Any body who hears this should also check out "Slow Down" By JB. Again, that song blows contemporary songs to bits by being miles ahead of its generation.

This is overdubbed from a 45, I believe, with drums and harmonizing by Willie Dixon. This was done by Wenders to improve the sound. To hear the original soundtrack from the Seabergs' 1964 16mm film go to J.B. Lenoir in Chicago - 1964 - original 16mm color.
I find it interesting that nobody has commented on the fact that this "performance" is not really him playing live, but instead, it's him "lip-syncing" to his own pre-recorded track.
Check out this song on his "Vietnam Blues" album, and you will hear the exact same performance (w/ better quality sound). Also, if you really listen carefully while you watch him, you can see that he is not really playing the guitar part that you are hearing...
That being said, J.B. Lenoir was one on the best...
I agree with you and that's for sure. I saw their debut at the Windsor Festival and then once or twice a month around the U.K.Midlands. I still listen to that stuff all the time. It is pure class.
Best wishes to all fans of Peter Green and Duster Bennett - The Blues Brothers!
Hi greenysfleetwoodmac. I would see saw at Le Metro, (a hole in the wall joint with a tiny stage) in Birmingham, the Civic Hall and the Ship & Rainbow in Wolverhampton, Mother's in Erdington (B'ham) , the Top Rank, B'ham, the Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, and Cannon Hill Park, B'ham. That's all I can recall at the moment.
It was awesome. I still have vivid dreams about it. I contributed quite a bit of detail to Peter's biography but, like everyone's contribution, it was edited out of recognition!
With respect, I think that Peter gets quite a lot of recognition and honour. Great talents like Billy Gibbons, James Harman and Ronnie Earl say how much of an influence Peter was. Stevie Ray Vaughan used to also. The biography could have been better, but it was reprinted/updated three times. The Fleetwood Mac 'Blue Horizon' box was a lavish production which highlighted Peter's talents. If he played the Albert Hall he could fill it for a fortnight!
BTW, today is JB Lenoir's "heavenly" birthday! I LOVE this joyous perfomance, plus "Slow Down"
Re: Peter Green....I have been getting very interested in him over the last few years (thanks to British pal, 50-ish years old). Any recordings you'd recommend? I know he's active again, but I'll take advice on any era.
The Peter Green CDs I would recommend are A Hard Road (the 2006 deluxe 2 CD version) with John Mayall, and Mr Wonderful by Fleetwood Mac. That would be a great starting point.
The reason that I like him is that not only is his music amazing but he seems like a genuinely nice guy.
