  • The reason that I like him is that not only is his music amazing but he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

  • I feel so good now ! great artist !

  • Can anybody else hear that deafening high pitch screech?

  • Great artist. A shame, that he is so underrated.

  • I am watching the movie Soul of Man, where is taken from and there is no high pitch noise in that recording. WTF is up with this one.

  • @dieknf I think they boosted the audio so you don't have to turn your speakers way up to hear the vocal.

  • my ears were about to explode but they didn't just to keep hearing the J.B. Lenoir music

  • His outfit makes the song even more badass…

  • awful sound quality, thought my pc was going to explode. still nice vid

  • whitelinedrifter...I could'nt agree more...Love this technology!

  • the tiger/leopard striped TUXEDO!!!!!!!!

  • fantastic !!!

  • No, really. Please re-post this without that deafening screech.

  • Christ, can someone post this or re-post this in worthy quality???

  • what kind of coat is that?

  • @buffalobilly The awsome kind...

  • Having a bad day at work? Hard times at home? This song is such an UPLIFTER! God bless JB Lenoir! John Mayall wrote a tribute to him after he died....check it out.

  • its black!

  • devil music

  • The audio is so bad, but the song salve us

  • The music was added to this clip after the fact. The original clip he's playing solo.

  • Just gotta say, the sound quality on this is really good! I just have to re-visit this little clip every once in a while....are you TAPPING YOUR FOOT?

  • Gotta love that coat!

  • amazing =)))))

  • 0:56 he was tuning the E bass string with the mouth! :D great!

  • Sweet!

  • JB's birthday today. Keep on rockin' in the clouds, JB, you've sure left us some great music.

  • After listening to this I now feel so good!

  • yeah, long live that swedish couple, they recorded him loads of times...neet!

  • JB is the man

Rock music is a real copy of blues.

  • I'm so glad you put them chills up my spine...! Man oh man oh Man! The best and most overlooked blues man of his day....Does anyone in the YouTube universe have a complete version of this video?

  • Cool Coat :D want it x)

  • Short and sweet & kinda neat! Probably one of very few music vids J.B. ever did. And with the lyrics added so we can sing along! He originally recorded this 4 the USA record label.

  • uhm not exactly XD. Two people from sweden accidently ran into him in a club, they were so impressed that they filmed him for the Swedish natiol television. This is one of their clips.

  • god of blues ... but leither unknowed man ...

  • Great song! Haven´t heard it for a long time.

  • I want a coat like that

  • Love this mans style....found out about him from the Blues doc. so glad I found him atall.

  • can you please tell the name of the documentary?

  • I think it was soul of a man, one of the scorsesi documentries

  • soul of a man is film by wim wenders, and wim did a masterpiece about lost bleusmen.must see for any1 who likes the bluzz

  • I saw him perform many years ago when I was much younger. I used to tell others about him, but people just did not know who he was. Their loss!

  • The one thing I like best about you tube is the fact that I can see so many great acts that I would normally never see or hear. I know a lot of the artists don't like their music on here and some are removing theirs. The fact is, this is a great way for so many to see and hear what they would never see otherwise. I have never heard of this guy before today. It is amazing to me where all you will go when you surf here and just look and listen to so many great artists.

  • Whitelinedrifter, 99% of people who DO listen to blues or early rock don't know him. He only did a few recordings before he died. He never had the chance to hit the big time.

  • now thats the blues

  • This is so uplifting

  • this is amazing, just amazing

  • what is the guitar?

  • Oh yeah! Been looking for this one for a long time! This is really great!!

  • The man was amazing. He was so ahead of his time. If only these days had a better, less fad-based, taste in good music.

    PS,

Any body who hears this should also check out "Slow Down" By JB. Again, that song blows contemporary songs to bits by being miles ahead of its generation.

  • This is overdubbed from a 45, I believe, with drums and harmonizing by Willie Dixon. This was done by Wenders to improve the sound. To hear the original soundtrack from the Seabergs' 1964 16mm film go to J.B. Lenoir in Chicago - 1964 - original 16mm color.

  • watch john mayall's jb lenoir is dead , nice tribute

  • Mercy!

  • wow!!.....thanks!!

  • do see.....Martin Scorsese presents...

THE SOUL OF A MAN, a film by Wim Wenders.

(Blind Willie Johnson, Skip James & JB)

here a blind man will teach you how to see. grt movie and i hope you see it. do watch it in ur ac's like i did. THX(XnotC)

  • I find it interesting that nobody has commented on the fact that this "performance" is not really him playing live, but instead, it's him "lip-syncing" to his own pre-recorded track.

Check out this song on his "Vietnam Blues" album, and you will hear the exact same performance (w/ better quality sound). Also, if you really listen carefully while you watch him, you can see that he is not really playing the guitar part that you are hearing...

That being said, J.B. Lenoir was one on the best...

  • I believe the audio from a studio release was overdubbed since the original was lost.

  • THIS is the stuff!!!!

  • Just today we were talking about his tragic loss, his amazing talent and CHARISMA,magic..

Imagine what he would've done if he'd lived!

His death was so avoidable,so sad.

  • Hi Chillart....I don't know why but when I think of J.B.'s death, Martin Luther King comes to mind.

  • This isn't the footage from Wender's doco(?)-

    SO WHERE'D YOU GET IT?

    It's wonderful.

    Is there a dvd or..???

    Thankyou so much.

  • best fucking outfit ever haha. it's like stevie ray vaughan in the 50's or 60's

  • This is unbelievably good, J.B gives me eargasms

  • Lmao "eargasms". Same here.

  • Thanks for this video.

  • I just love JB Lenoir. RIP

  • That's Willie Dixon on bass and vocal harmony and Fred Below on percussion. This is great footage!

  • bad ass. i kep hearin john mayall mention him or sing about him so i finaly figgerd out who he is. hell yeah

  • wicked

  • yea thanx for bringing this one back

  • Thank you very much!

  • This is some fucking good fotage!!!!

  • peters mac is the shit

  • yeaahhh your damn right!!

  • Hi greenysfleetwoodmac.

    Great name!

I agree with you and that's for sure. I saw their debut at the Windsor Festival and then once or twice a month around the U.K.Midlands. I still listen to that stuff all the time. It is pure class.

Best wishes to all fans of Peter Green and Duster Bennett - The Blues Brothers!

  • hi thanks! thats nice where did you see them? i havent seen them but my dad has in sweden a couple of times! keep on listening to that great stuff!

  • Hi greenysfleetwoodmac. I would see saw at Le Metro, (a hole in the wall joint with a tiny stage) in Birmingham, the Civic Hall and the Ship & Rainbow in Wolverhampton, Mother's in Erdington (B'ham) , the Top Rank, B'ham, the Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, and Cannon Hill Park, B'ham. That's all I can recall at the moment.

It was awesome. I still have vivid dreams about it. I contributed quite a bit of detail to Peter's biography but, like everyone's contribution, it was edited out of recognition!

  • thats so sad! he definitely dont ge the honour he deserves!

  • Hello again greenysfleetwood mac

With respect, I think that Peter gets quite a lot of recognition and honour. Great talents like Billy Gibbons, James Harman and Ronnie Earl say how much of an influence Peter was. Stevie Ray Vaughan used to also. The biography could have been better, but it was reprinted/updated three times. The Fleetwood Mac 'Blue Horizon' box was a lavish production which highlighted Peter's talents. If he played the Albert Hall he could fill it for a fortnight!

    Best wishes

  • BTW, today is JB Lenoir's "heavenly" birthday! I LOVE this joyous perfomance, plus "Slow Down"

Re: Peter Green....I have been getting very interested in him over the last few years (thanks to British pal, 50-ish years old). Any recordings you'd recommend? I know he's active again, but I'll take advice on any era.

  • Hi rocktenniscat

The Peter Green CDs I would recommend are A Hard Road (the 2006 deluxe 2 CD version) with John Mayall, and Mr Wonderful by Fleetwood Mac. That would be a great starting point.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks for those recommendations.

  • o yea... get yourself The Biggest Thing Since Colossus by Otis Spann with Peter Green on guitar. Awesome stuff!

  • Thank you too for the recommendation, Stoelefj
