@LTopomcfly Are you serious!? Ron Simmons!? from the nation,. Owen Hart! from the nation. steve Austin was the epit of talent at the time, better than anything wcw could manage, as is proven, but that's bischoff for you, he didn't know how to work an obvious talent
Bischoff was right. WWF's TALENT pool was small. They had HHH, Taker, Rock, Foley but everyone else was trash: DX, Oddities, Nation, Headbangers. No one who could hang with Goldberg, DDP, Jericho, Benoit, NWO, Sting, Guerrero, Mysterio. WCW was No.2 so they didn't have the marketing to draw money with their stars like WWF did with Austin and a few others.
At 10:00 Landsberg actually owned Cone Stold and caught him in his Kayfabe rant when he was pretending to diss Bret Hart. Austin was obviously taking the company line to protect his spot at the time, but he was just outed by Landsberg.
@EddieNeverSleeps dude that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. that isnt evidence. thats you telling me a hole bunch of bullshit that has no concrete evidence. do you really think that vince mcmahon is that much of a bad guy that hed get one of his wrestlers killed. And stone cold never said that he wished he was dead.
interesting interview, though the host seemed too much like a weasel or more so than most of them. Kinda funny how wwf superstars did and not sure if they do still try to stay in character when it comes to business.
@slippyal2 Hes actually not. He beat all of Hogans previous drawing records in 98 and had a huge year in merch BUT Rock beat his drawing record in 99, then set an all time record in 00. Rock also sold more merch than Austin in 99 hence why they named a show after him and not Austin Smackdown. Sad part is Rock only had the title in 98 AND 99 as a heel and once he turned face in mid 99 he dominated. Austin even said Rock was so red hot he had to turn heel in 01 bc he was the face of the company
@YoungGrizzly82 No No No Remember What The Commentators said in Rocky III?? (During the Rocky vs. Thunderlips Fight) they said once that wrestler grabs that boxer that's all she wrote...
@TheGuilttrip That's supirsing you've never heard that.Steve has mentioned a number of times he designed and watched the sales of them VERY carefully. He was told at WCW that with black trunks/ boots he wasn't marketable and if they couldn't find a gimmick for him/ didn't want one then he would probably need to find a new job.(used the injury to fire him) He said he designed them and watched the sales carefully so he could throw it back in WCW's face. He had the Biggest sales ever!
This is such a great interview. Austin was able to give great insight on things while being able to stay true to his character. You can't find that nowadays, which is quite lame.
You, a Canadian show, got FIVE emails on your first day?!?!?!?!?! And, of those 5, ONLY 5 of them said SCSA!?!?!?!?!? Email number 6 came in AFTER taping this episode, and requested Bret Hart.
Whether I agree with you or not (it's quite clear Austin is blending his character WITH his true personality in bursts here), if you think just because you have a top rated comment (especially one with just 17 people, LOL) that this means your comment is a fact is... extremely ignorant to put it NICELY.
It's funny how Steve Austin don't like to job to others and try's to call his shots and everybody is cool with it, but Hogan seems to be like the most hated wrestler on the internet but Austin seems to be the exact same way, Austin seems very Stuck up, Hogan seems like more of a peoples person, hogan seems to be more of a leader, That's my opinion!
Guys I really liked watching him when he wrestled full time but I just felt that he was given a lot and started to get used to it. Apparently he had his own locker room and dressed alone. He didn't want to job at Wrestlemania 18 even though he was originally scheduled to. He didn't like mid card fueds. I just felt like he was getting frustrated because he was used to constantly being main event and often winning.
@ themax316
I did not know he was asked to job to Coach. If true that is too far.
I actually think Stone Cold was being a bit of a baby by leaving in 2002 because he was unhappy with the 'direction' the company was taking. What that really meant was he was unhappy that he was not in the main event and was pushed in to more mid card fueds. He was too selfish. I still think he was a great wrestler but his ego was big. He wanted to be the focus of the company all the time.
@Wojzek No one other than Stone cold knows why he actually left or not some say he was being a baby like you others say he wanted them to do his character justice and they wouldn't others say he left because of the neck injury that ultimately ended his career but at least do us all a favor don't start shooting off about what you think his mindset was unless you had actually spoken to him about it all you'll succeed in doing is drawing a lot of heat from his more rabid fans.
@Wojzek I disagree. He was asked to lose to Brock Lesnar clean on Raw and he wanted to lose but on a pay per view. You have to protect your personae. HHH really abuses it. Austin did put Angle over, he put lots of wrestlers over as a heel. He was even asked to lose to The Coach....that was the last straw for him.
@Wojzek WOULD YOU HIT OR GIVE A STUNNER TO A 80 YEAR OLD LADY?????? THAT WAS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT MADE STONE COLD GO, SO HE DID BECAUSE OF HIS CONVICTIONS NOT BECAUSE HE WAS A BABY, IF YOU BELIEVE IN SOMETHING DEFEND THAT, AND HE DID
Best moment of the interview was when Landsberg thought he'd got a juicy piece of info from SCSA about the screwjob and he jumped on it with teeth bared. LMFAO! See how he suddenly sat forward? THAT'S one of the reasons why I love, love, love SCSA, because he can reel someone in and then just hit them with their own stupidity LOL!
What a ridiculous show name. 'Off the record'. Off the record means it's not released to the public. This show's purpose is to release things to the public... so the show's name is a major oxymoron.

FACT: McMahon had Owen killed for himself, as revenge for Bret's whining, and for Stone Cold as revenge for the botched piledriver.
Stone Cold knew that Owen's harness was gonna disconnect. And so did Vince. They both were happy it happened.
