  • the most important thing is to do it. Don't worry about writing when your inspiration is at its highest point, because then you'll never get anything done. Also remember: the hardest thing to do is start with a blank piece of paper; once you have a first draft, it will become much easier to work, and the ideas will flow freely.

  • where can i find the script "the edge"? i've looked all over.

  • Don't fall in love with your first draft. I wish George Lucas shared the same philosophy.

  • Final cut is an editing program is it not?

    Final Draft is for WRITING>

A famous man once said(no I don't remember) a script is not written its re-written.

Watch the documentary tales from the script and read Script/Fade In/Written By and Creative Screenwriting.

  • @mastergradeone about 130 or 150 pages. go to imsdb.com for free movie scripts.

  • i have the movie in my head and then i film it! watch my movie people! thats all i can say

  • you should apply your writing methods to your teaching methods... although you have some good info there is too much fluff in these 3 min

  • For that idea of putting your ideas in a blank document, I just get an A4 piece of paper, write ideas in samll writing like 1 page for character idea ssuch as female, male, name, age etc, tear it up and put the ideas into little piles. Take some ideas out of each pile and get a randomised list of movie ideas. It really works! :D

  • i'm a student, 17 this year. i just want to ask, what do i do when i desperately want to write a movie script without any programs and gadgets, without knowledge about writing movie scripts? But i have ideas about stories for movies that i think that they are great and i really Really want to write them! I'm really serious about this and i want to ask a professional for help! Please offer me some help if you see my comment. i will be waiting for your reply!

  • Hey. there's a free program that you can download called "Celtx". celtx. I've used it. It helps you format things. It is basic and I've never had any problems with it. It also has options to format a play and cartoon. You can export the documents to other word processors as well. Best part about it is that it's free and not at all complicated.

  • @ddin2012 look I would just put the character names and then what you want them to say then if you go online you can find script format oh yeah put in main actions and main emotions or feelings I'm planning on making 2 movies in the next 4 years so yeah writing a script is easy even without experience just think like it's a book and how cool and juicy ad yet normal unless it's fantasy your movie is going to be I hope this helps

  • Revise your draft on computer, don't print it out till you are satisfied. Give it a rest after your first draft, take a month and come back to it, see how it reads. See which parts astonish you and which parts embarass you. Note those down, revise tediously. Tweak plot lines, make dialogues slimmer. Use effective words, avoid cliches. Give your screenplay to a few trusted friends or known teachers for feedback. Ask them to make notes in the margins. Then revise again till you feel it is ready.

  • Develop an Outline. Flesh out your characters, give them personality, think of an exciting plot (does it excite you or bore you?) then pour it out on a page as he says. In between writing scenes take a few days to think them in your head, during your day job or at lunch breaks, or in the shower. Have a handy notepad to write your brilliant and nonsensical ideas. Filter them and get them molded into a screenplay. Follow format in draft 4. Don't print all drafts out. Be eco-friendly. Just revise.

  • I love the up in smoke tour shady was amazing!

  • You say writing a script is "simple as opening up a blank document, pouring out ideas on a page and sifting through them later for the best one." I think there's quite a bit more to it than that!

  • some of these comments are horseshit. no offence.

You can use any word processing document to write a script or screenplay. If you are wondering what program you are using to make it look better it sounds like you are skirting around the edges.

If your script is dynamite work, it wont need a fancy professional looking layout it will read fantastically anyway.

Write, draw and just be creative. Boundaries are meant to be broken

  • Bullsh*t. Script readers will look for ANY excuse not to read them, including the way they're binded or...the script format!

  • Abysmal is your favorite word:) Sweet video

  • yeah Celtx is that shit i use it to write my scripts very simple to use

  • i agree, it is very handy :)
