  • I have always called it hash or sharp. Pound is money not a '#' :-)

  • well in case of c++, this symbol is also called 'pound' sign. do have a look in c++ books...

  • In the American Standard system the # notates weight in pounds. #12 would be 12 pounds. Thus the reason for calling it a pound symbol.
