Yes, the bible condones. The old testament makes it very clear. When the Jews sacked a village they would use the men as forced labor, and the women could be used as sex slaves, and the babies would be killed in front of their parents. Now, to a Jew slavery was much different. A Jew could sell himself to another Jew, but he would be set free in 7 years, unlike the gentile slave. Please, people, you are all focusing on the physical! The Book of Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law is but the "Shadow" of things to come. It is all parabolic and symbolic. You have to work out the symbolism, which is hard to do, since much of it is couched in the form of historical narratives. There are parts that are obviously not historical, but allegorical instead. Why not see the historical parts the same way.
If, for instance, a man is told to slaughter a child, or a lamb, or some other harmless or innocent creature, for instance, it is not that God takes any pleasure in it. It is simply to paint a picture, an image, for people to understand on a completely different level. For instance, why would God want a Priest to take a pure and spotless lamb and drain the life out of it? The answer is that He really doesn't. What looks like a command is really just a picture!
And what it is a picture of is just what the priesthood ACTUALLY DOES to that which is spotless and pure and alive. God, SEEMS to be establishing a priesthood, but He is NOT. He is, in fact, denouncing the priesthood, by getting them to do all kinds of things that are actually ABHORRENT to Him. THAT is why He can command sacrifices and yet denounce them as well. He is not ESTABLISHING these laws as any reflection of HIMSELF, but as a reflection of US.
Jesus affirms this in Mark 10:1-12 when he says that "Moses wrote that law, (that a man can put his wife away for whatever reason) because YOUR hearts had been made HARD." So even Jesus teaches that Moses wrote things AS A REFLECTION of those around him, and NOT as a reflection of GOD, as he goes on to clarify: "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female."
See? Right there you have Jesus reveal that the objectionable things written in the Old Testament were only there because men had strayed too far from the truth to even accept it. God essentially is saying that certain things are reflections of us, and certain things are reflections of God. The part about us being united together is the original truth, the divorce thing, is therefore to be understood as a CONDEMNATION, and NOT merely a Concession. If our hearts were not hard, we WOULD be ONE!
If God tells people to go and rape and murder, and pillage, He is saying, "You are "Rapists" and "murderers" and "Marauders." Did Moses enter the Promised Land? Nope! Did David get to build the House of God? Nope! These people did NOT qualify, because their ways were not God's ways, and their Laws were not God's laws. No "MAN" can do it, only God Himself. The "Sword" he uses is his word, which is to say, himself, because he IS the WORD of God. And with his "sword," your argument falls.
Your entire premise rests on the assumption that everything that God commanded men to do was as a representation of Him, when Jesus clearly points out that wherever there is a law, (or command, or whatever,) that is superseded by a better law, one that seems different from the lesser one, it is because the lesser one is a reflection of the heart of the fallen man, & the better one is of God. This is why he taught that OUR righteousness had to EXCEED the righteousness of the scribes & Pharisees.
That is because what THEY taught was lacking this spiritual insight. They believed that the Law of Moses was God's Law, when it was really God's judgment. Men taught "an eye for an eye," without realizing what was meant. They did not know that there was a second, higher meaning to this. That when the leader took away the "spiritual" eye away from the people, so that they might live in corruption, their spiritual eye would likewise go out.
And if they should injure someone else, then they would become spiritually injured in the process. That was the logic behind "turning the other cheek." By not hitting someone back physically, your spirit would not suffer the corresponding injury it would have suffered by acting out of revenge and retribution. Jesus is saying in all this that there is a higher, spiritual law, which is to be followed, and a lower law, which exists to someday expose the spiritual frauds and deceivers.

Yes, the bible condones. The old testament makes it very clear. When the Jews sacked a village they would use the men as forced labor, and the women could be used as sex slaves, and the babies would be killed in front of their parents. Now, to a Jew slavery was much different. A Jew could sell himself to another Jew, but he would be set free in 7 years, unlike the gentile slave. The bible never abolished slavery, but the laws of the land did. Slavery is still endorsed in the bible to this day.

I did some research and found at least 10 versions of the bible throughout history all proclaiming to be the 1 true bible.The king james bible which most christian people base their lives on is the tyndale version, there were several other versions in his time but tyndales out after the catholics choked him to death.even this version has been revised and rewritten several times since the 1600's .

Please, people, you are all focusing on the physical! The Book of Hebrews 10:1 tells us that the law is but the "Shadow" of things to come. It is all parabolic and symbolic. You have to work out the symbolism, which is hard to do, since much of it is couched in the form of historical narratives. There are parts that are obviously not historical, but allegorical instead. Why not see the historical parts the same way.

Jesus affirms this in Mark 10:1-12 when he says that "Moses wrote that law, (that a man can put his wife away for whatever reason) because YOUR hearts had been made HARD." So even Jesus teaches that Moses wrote things AS A REFLECTION of those around him, and NOT as a reflection of GOD, as he goes on to clarify: "But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female."

See? Right there you have Jesus reveal that the objectionable things written in the Old Testament were only there because men had strayed too far from the truth to even accept it. God essentially is saying that certain things are reflections of us, and certain things are reflections of God. The part about us being united together is the original truth, the divorce thing, is therefore to be understood as a CONDEMNATION, and NOT merely a Concession. Your entire premise rests on the assumption that everything that God commanded men to do was as a representation of Him, when Jesus clearly points out that wherever there is a law, (or command, or whatever,) that is superseded by a better law, one that seems different from the lesser one, it is because the lesser one is a reflection of the heart of the fallen man, & the better one is of God. This is why he taught that OUR righteousness had to EXCEED the righteousness of the scribes & Pharisees.

That is because what THEY taught was lacking this spiritual insight. They believed that the Law of Moses was God's Law, when it was really God's judgment. Men taught "an eye for an eye," without realizing what was meant. They did not know that there was a second, higher meaning to this. That when the leader took away the "spiritual" eye away from the people, so that they might live in corruption, their spiritual eye would likewise go out.

By not hitting someone back physically, your spirit would not suffer the corresponding injury it would have suffered by acting out of revenge and retribution. Jesus is saying in all this that there is a higher, spiritual law, which is to be followed, and a lower law, which exists to someday expose the spiritual frauds and deceivers.

If morality is subjective, then you saying God is immoral means nothing more to me than if you said you dislike the foods I like to eat. It's all based upon opinion and comparing subjective morality to whatever morality other cultures just so happened to have adopted seems to be a bit pointless.

I recently came to the same conclusion about the bible. I mean God killed over two million people, and even took the credit for the ten satan killed in Job. The bible makes satan look like a saint. I'm with you, the bible was tampered with, and God has a bigger plan. Elijah even had a bunch of young kids killed for calling him bald. Christians apologize for God, and I never could understand why we should apologize for God? If anyone wants to know the truth read the Egyptian scriptures.

If you search for truth honestly, you should be prepared to accept the truth, as complex as it is. Don't search for easy ways, these ways usually are wrong, because they are conditioned by you will. Exclude your will! The truth doesnt depend on it. And dont make generic conclusions like religion is evil or religion is always right. Not the religion is what matters, but it is our doing, especially my doings.

That is an obscene statement. There is nothing stopping anybody having a philosophy or code of morals without a belief in superstition. I regard Christianity as in the same category as ice ages, wars and mass extinctions, something that shaped my world that I am glad is in the past. A good part of what Christianity brought was bad, but we don't need to throw away everything good that the Christian era has given us. Did all those innocent old women get burned in vain?
