  • So magic!!!!!!!

  • the jimi hendrix of sitars.

  • RAAAAVI

  • Oh the visions...

  • Ravi Shankar & George Harrison U.U

  • BEAUTIFUL!! I love this man!

  • Whoever who gets high to this music is pathetic. This music is not about getting high and have fun with stupid visions

  • @smekninga False. This music is about what I want it to be about, and you have no say in it.

  • @smekninga other dude has a point. by saying what the music is or isnt about you are taking away that experience from people. so be open minded to other peoples music interpretations.

  • I want a fuckin Sitar, God!

  • so fucking tight

  • be quiet

  • Yes you can hear the tamboura in the background. Sometimes two tabouras are used - Ravi Shankar often used to do this.

  • @ALANSKA62 does the taboursas play the tala part? if no, then what instrument plays it? ^___^

  • on the contrary, one needs strong control of their natural brain and mind to be able to properly compose ragas and other melodies in indian music......

  • Takes you to a far off better place, wondrous!!!!!

  • is the instrument heard in the background tambura?

  • Dis shit is scurry!!

  • thanks for this mate! great to read to

@GrauenausderTiefe that may be true, but it is fucking good to smoke herb to.

  • Amazing Sitar Shredder!

  • Beautiful,Thanks a lot for sharing

  • Sensacional!

  • Incredible

  • @SaturnPattern please do n do it quick XD LOL

  • @SaturnPattern I get what ya mean bro! but Its basically a joke :P! well speaking of offending... tell that to the danish artist who draws "offending" drawings.. to piss off the whole mass! thats offensive XD atleast if he drew sumthing a lil nicer it will be less "offensive" XD anyways thats not out topic! thanks :D

  • @SaturnPattern U like what u read?:P

  • is there a full version of this?

  • I feel like a snake.

  • Ravi Shankar was to Sitar what Zidane was to football :)

  • just.... wow...

  • sitar at its best by none other than Pundit Ravi Shankar. Beauty....

  • @ThePeter575 death to your mama and you too

  • @ThePeter575 ..hope you got all the attention you were looking for with that comment.

  • Ravi Shankar, the supreme master...what more can I say?

  • The most beautiful sound in the world... If everyone just chilled to this the world would just be so chilled out and peaceful... The magical wonders of music and the beautiful Sitar!

  • como se llama el instrumento ?

  • @MrZeratulo se llama sitar el instrumento... y el genero creo que se llama raga

  • @MrZeratulo

    Sitar

  • I don't know why, but I have always thought that the Gerudo from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were based on the Indian culture

  • this is really something!!

  • Comment removed

  • oh these comments here are so strange. There is more behind indian music then messeing up your brain or smoking pot. It has its own grammer like western music too. Its a music with many possibilities of expression. thumb this up if you think this to.

  • @GrauenausderTiefe A lot of people use marijuana to connect to their spirtuality... that, in combination with this music--I can see why there are so many posts about it. Although, some people are just getting baked I'm sure. Nothing wrong with that though; though I do agree this music is much more deeper than just something to get high off of. It's a beautiful instrument, to go with a unique culture, and has a very interesting sound. :)

  • @GrauenausderTiefe What you say is true, and the way you say it is very measured, patient. I would have been tempted to make the same points as you in a less sweet way.. Your way is right. Respect

  • @GrauenausderTiefe I agree totally.

  • @GrauenausderTiefe

what do you mean by messing up your brain?

    you're generalizing.

theres's nothing wrong with appreciating music while high.

in fact, they go hand in hand with beautiful music such as this.

people have been taking stuff to impair themselves, or transcend themselves for thousands of years. as long, if not longer than this instrument has been around. only now days, 'drugs' are taboo to the ignorant minded.

there's more to substances than "messing up your brain"

  • @baby13sc

there is nothing wrong with making music while you are high.

Or listening it on drugs. And i dont say that drugs are evil.

I only said, that indian music is not exclusively made from and for people who are on drugs.

This music was not developed by people on drugs and to reduce it to music that would go "hand in hand with drugs" would be wrong. Because elements of it go hand in hand with a clear rational mind.

you can also listen to schönberg while you are in drugs.

  • music for all ages .....

  • 19 soulless people

  • You don't need chemicals to mess up your brain. All you need to do is listen to awesome music like this and just let your mind float away.....true freedom without cost or addiction.

  • @dnewhope777 I wish i could thumbs this up twice

  • ravi shankar is the guy who taught one the beatles how to play it

  • @freerangevegan good idea, everything is hidden in everything

  • @freerangevegan Probably just sounds like a sitar played backwards.

  • @Cxaxakluth No way, really? ...

  • @WelcomeToMyChanne1 I can't say for certain.

  • @Cxaxakluth Sitar backwards, is ratis.

  • @WelcomeToMyChanne1 I like waffles.

  • @freerangevegan if you listen closely you will find all the answers you seek. But listen to the music in your heart and mind, not just the music in your ears.

  • @freerangevegan Maybe if you play it backwards it will make your mind reboot.

  • @freerangevegan I tried and it doesn't but it does give a great recipe for lentil soup.

  • @ThePrinceDhani, Ravi Shankar is perfect combined with lentil soup. More perfect, I should say.

  • sitar is truly an ancient instrument that is very beautiful and therapeutic.

  • why is this is in the beatles mix i must ask? o.o

  • @SupaDupaCwazy Ravi Shankar is related to them, he and George were friends and he teached him to play the Sitar and made a few songs with him

  • @23Tomay23 oh ok thank you :D he's pretty cool!

  • @SupaDupaCwazy That's what I asked!

  • duuuude

  • I'm also on the Beatles's playlist, have been for over 30 minutes, and I've only heard 2 Beatles's songs...???

  • @grannynara HAHA SAME!!!

  • zabardast.

  • Why is this on a beatles's playlist?!

  • @mrsexy8113261 Ravi Shankar was one of the guys who taught George Harrison (as well as Shambhu Das) how to play the sitar in songs like Norwegian Wood and Tomorrow Never Knows.

  • is that a man or a woman?

she/he is great on that instrument, would mind to play it myself C:

  • @Lexylunchbox Ravi Shankar is a man

  • @Lexylunchbox ravi shankar is Norah jones's father....

  • That is soooo cool sounding......

  • this is great!

  • looks kinda like gerry bednob

  • Is this a cover of George Harrison's song, or did Ravi do it first? Either way, two amazingly talented artists.

  • The Master . God Him Self plays on the sitar

  • I just discovered this artist and kind of music. Can anyone tell me if this guy has cd's with only songs like this ? I mean instrumental? Because i don't like the chants?

  • es tan hermoso y tan pacifico el sonido q nos trasmite shankar con su sitara simplemente hermoso otra palabra no ay!!

  • very soothing

  • he's the master

  • he's the master

  • my cat freaks out and meows when i play sitar music.

  • Love Ravi...but definitely not the best albeit probably the most popular in the U.S. Like saying Ian Anderson is the best flute player. Very popular but just not close to being the best. Almost everyone claiming that people like Ravi and Ian (just an example of course) are the best at their trade have absolutely no knowledge of real bad ass players. Like what you like but saying best is using an extremely lazy and uneducated ear. Ciao.

  • it is hard to play citar??

  • @mangostaomarus Just LOOK at that thing. I've never tried playing one but I've the guitar is a cakewalk compared to the sitar.

  • Eargasm

  • how can you not love this?

  • That doesn't sound like Gat Kirwani to me.

  • He is simply the best. Just amazing. But, more importantly (to me, at least), I completely lust after his daughter. She is simply the sexiest thing alive.

  • MAESTRO DE LA CITARA

  • bliss

  • it's wonderful

  • wah! bahot khoob....kitna mazaa hai is piece mein. thanks for sharing...

  • best meditation music ever!

  • i play the sitar but it is so hard but fun

  • I wish I knew where I could find a sitar. I'd play that thing every single day, it just sounds so beautiful. [:

  • This is just phenomenal!!

Too hard to describe in words.

  • بلادي الصوت الرائع السيتار رافي المعلم العظيم!

  • Ceci serait une sonnerie de telephone vraiment malade...

  • Goddamn why do i have so short fingers whhhyyy??? i wanna play this instrument too... ;-(

    sounds so fkn great...

  • what does gat kirwani mean ? thanks!

  • @completelyyoung 'Gat' means composition, while 'Kirwani' is a raga. A raaga is a set of notes within which the music is composed, similar to a mode in western classical music but of larger scope and meaning in indian classical music.

  • @uptothe thank you !

  • His daughter is phenomenal as well!!

  • Qué maestro!!

Un crack de las cuerdas ♫

Sabías que es el padre de Norah Jones? Que fue maestro de George Harrison?... Etc etc

  • Why does there always seem to be so many druggies that gravitate towards the sound of the sitar? Every sitar video i see there is at least three people saying "DOOD IM SO HIGH RIGHT NOW! TRIPPIN BAWLS!". Good for you, go have fun with your acid but don't go associating it with such beautiful music like this. The sitar is a really amazing instrument with a very unique, transcendent sound. It truly is mesmerizing.

  • @HDZ274 you just answered your own question. the unique, transcendent, mezmerising sound of which you speak appealed to the open-minded transcendental freaks of the late 60's, and that's how sitar music came into the modern music spotlight.

also, referring to these people as "druggies" is very generalized. i could call you an alcoholic for drinking wine with your meal every now and then, but it wouldn't be true. a lot of people use LSD and marijuana sparingly to transcend every now and then.

  • i would have so say though it is musc harder to tune all the strings than it is to play.

    om purnayai namah!

  • @triip777, i will continue my search for a fairly priced one, thanks for the help!

  • The music store near my house has at least 15 sitars for under 300$

  • great music from a great culture ..from morroco i say chabach chabach

  • wa wa kyah baath hai.. zabardast.

  • @Deathklok17, Thanks for the suggestion, I will try to find one in a music store somewhere, hopefully

  • i too would love a sitar, too bad they are so expensive

  • dont worry about the money its the bond that you create with it and get a half or 3/4 student model you dont need a ravi shankar pro sitar but pick it up just started a week ago loving ever second

  • @13ringcircus not really you can get ones that are decent for like 200-300 bucks usd and"fusion" ones witch are electric for like 300-400 for a decent one they even have a rogue sitar guitar witch has a normal 6 stings like a guitar with drone strings and the necks like a guitar its made to mimic the sound but ravis sitar model is like 800 bucks depends on what u get

  • like it sooooooo much !

    long live RAVI SHANKAR !

  • man i want one soo bad. its been my goal to buy one. ive been dreaming about having one and playing one before i even knew what a sitar was. real like in a dream but almost daily
