Well, i always respect the desicion of playing just what you want to play instead of selling your skills to make money to play awful music. Who cares about streetcred anyway. If it wasn't challenging or didn't sound good he didin't play it. If you think ppl who play more challenging music instead of "selling out" are doing it because of street cred You are a total moron. I think Pekka Achieved a lot. Maybe not enough cash.
They were offered a tour in USA as a backing band for ABBA. Stupid as they were they refused not realising that they would have been faceless and earning money for further projects and living in general. You can say they were artists but then they put aside their musicianship.
@konked Yeah, artistic ambitions once again. It's sad, really cause all of these guys would have deserved more than what they got. I read from Pekka Pohjola's (the bassist) biography that at one point he lived in a shack boozing day and night. At the same time the ABBA folks were living in mansions... Guess some people just rather play jazz for 50 bucks a night than "go mainstream".
@TheElPajero The age old question but whoever invented the term street credibilty should be rolled in tar & feathers. This song brings very much Wigwam's Nuclear Nightclub to mind feeling wise.
i would love to play this on drums
