  • Question mine pair tend to not eject and and need someone that can fix this problem.

  • where do you work? it seems like maybe you work for American Audio since you suggest the Radius 1000s .

  • @djMarveltv : By the same reasoning, I must also work for Crown, Stanton, Bill Fitzmaurice, Home Depot, Lowe's, Dodge, Behringer, Mackie.... (and many more)... since I own products from all of those, and would recommend and have recommended products from all of those. I don't recommend the Stanton C.314,or the C.324, but I use a pair of Stanton scs.3d midi controllers, and have also recommended those to people using midicontrollers.

  • @djMarveltv: and no, I do not work for any of those. I own a Mobile DJ business, and I have a day job that has nothing to do with the DJ/Music industry.

  • @djMarveltv: The reason I recommended the Radius 1000, is because it is the same price range as the Stanton's, with a very, very similiar feature set, plus a few extras like built in midi. I would have recommended the Pioneer CDJ2000's, but they are not even close the the same price point, or the Denon DNS1000 or DNS1200, but while they are good decks, they have a different feature set, and a pretty small platter. People looking at the Stanton C.314 or C.324 are looking for a larger platter.

  • @sleeperawaken36 ok cool.... the video helped a lot... i was thinking about picking up a pair of C.324s but after watching the video and reading the comments that doesn't look like a good investment.... do you have any experience with the Pioneer CDJ-400, 800, or 1000?

  • @djMarveltv : All of those would be excellent options, if you have the money. If you want Midi, you'd want the CDJ-400, or CDJ-850, or CDJ900. The CDJ800, while a great deck, does not have midi. Can't remember if the 1000 does or not, but I know the 2000 does. Pioneer is the company of choice for CD decks, if you have the money.

  • does this have the ame 4 loop as the 800

  • how long do you think it takes them to.. fail.. when you buy new ones , because i am thinking of buying them, only im not sure..

  • @kreamio: My recommendation is not to buy them. You can get a pair of Radius 1000 decks that are far better for about $330 each of you look around, so why buy something that is going to fail?

  • any idea for fixing c324 no disc issue ,bought a pair 5 months old 1 just stop reading disc for no reason in the middle of a gig an am 100% sure has nuttin to do with cleaning the lens..try it :(

  • @dstalion1: no experiences with the C.324. Either a bad CD drive unit, or just as likely a bad solder joint somewhere. Sounds like the C.324's are heading the same way as the C.314's sadly. If I were you, I'd do one of two things. 1) sell your working deck for as much as you can, and replace both with a pair of Radius 1000's, or 2) buy another one off Guitar Center's used gear area in good condition. They give you I think like a 45 day no fault warranty on used items.

  • I highly recommend option 1 though, selling your working C.324 and getting a pair of Radius 1000's if you can swing it. The Radius 1000's have a pretty decent sized platter, give you all the same features (though some are activated differently) plus midi control as an option. Additionally, if they ever have a problem outside warranty, you can buy replacement parts directly through American DJ Online. Getting parts from Stanton is like pulling teeth.

  • would you by any chances know how to repair the C324 "NO DISC" problem?

  • do the c314's have an onboard bpm reader?

  • @ns2rc: Yes, but they are not 100% accurate, probably about 80% of the time, they are in the neighborhood. That said, the C.314's are not reliable, and you will wind up getting rid of them later.

  • I DID read those comments btw, BUT If i buy that set IS IT A BIG DISAPOINTMENT????

  • You've read the posts, and you've read the messages in the video, and you still don't know if you'd be disappointed? The problems I had with my decks are common with just about all of them. The two I sold were probably some of the most stable C.314's out there, because I had reworked most of the board. Still at that, I sold them for dirt cheap, and advised the buyer. But it's up to you if you want to roll the dice yourself....LOL.

  • Tell me, are these decks any good?

  • @Bigx0p: did you watch the video and read the message at the beginning? Why do people ask me questions that I answered in the video??

  • @Bigx0p: More so, if you read any of the comments below, I tell you the answer to your question right there, as well as in the video.

  • Do these player's read serato disc's?

  • @32JSE: Your care stereo deck will read a serato disk. Not that you'd want to use it with Serato, but a Serato disk is just an audio CD that reads like any other CD, and Serato interprest the signal as time code. I do not recommend the Stanton C.314 unless you want to have something that will be in the repair shop more often than in front of you. I sold mine.

  • Im between Denon DN-S 1200 and this. The reason why i like this are the 4 extra cue point's, but i hear, that these break alot.

  • @32JSE: Radius 1000, or Raduis 3000 if you can afford the little extra. Radius 1000 has all the same features as the C.314, including the extra cue points, all the same effects, plus it works as a midi controller, so you don't even have to use time code. The Radius 3000 has all the same, plus has a built in sound card, and will read from a SD card, and USB thumb drive, or a USB external hard drive. ...and they are a lot more dependable than the Stantons, and same touch sensitive platter :)

  • Oh yeah i forgot about those. If i can get those used i can probably afford them.

  • I have one that one day just stop reading cd's I haven't tossed it I just don't have the cash to send it out to repair. Some shops want more the the player cost to repair. I put in a cd and the display reads no cd.

  • Yeah, I sold these decks some time ago.... they are great when they work, but they have more problems and failures than a guy can count on both hands. Don't try to repair.... get a CDI500 or better a Radius 1000, as you can do all the same things on those decks, but with reliability, and the Radius also works as a midi controller :)

  • Thanks for the info, for sure when my two that I currently have do fail, I'm def gonna look into something else.

    lates

    Dj Dennis

  • Good vid man. You got a smokin deal. I paid 425 when they came out about 3 to4 years ago.

  • DEAL

  • Hi folks can anyone out there explain how on stanton c314s in vinyl mode rather than hitting the stop button&it coming to an abrupt stop it slowly winds down(ie in slow motion)

  • hello my friend can you tell me which button can i use to replace the cue/play buttons?

  • can you hook up your laptop to it???

  • use an external sound card and you can use them with VDJ or trakktor, I havent tried serato software on it yet

  • you forgot to mention the manual filter aswell as the filter. ive had mine for like a year and a half and have only just found it ha

  • have the same decks. a pair of em. almost 3 years now and now problems. there is a firmware update you have to do though. you download stuff from the website and put it on a cd and then insert it into your turntables. try that. other that these tables are great. they compete with pioneers and denons. denons however are flimsy and too small for me. these are massive and feel like quality and produce quality mixes

  • No, that was one of the very first things I did. I'm not an idiot. Some people get lucky, and they last, but I get at least one email a week some someone having trouble. These decks have an extremely high failure rate. When they work, yeah, they are great, if you are lucky enough to get a pair that lasts.

  • OOOps I have a Stanton S-250 Dual CD deck with mixer

  • How do you make it stop skipping cds from the bass. I don't want to lower the bass because then it would suck and I'm about7-8 feet from the bass speaker because of the way the club is set up...Maybe I could put a piece of foam on the bottom..I guess I'll have to experiment.

  • Im really sick and tired of these cdjs. Yesterday a new problem came up with them where the track playing live just simply stops and there is no response from the cdj. The other problems are out of nowhere reverse, not ejecting the cd, freezing, button unreliable, and not very responsive vinyl mode jog wheel even when the cd is burned at 8 times speed. Im very dissapointed and I cant trust them to play live...I want to get new gear but everything went up in price which is really sad...

  • What about the Stanton C.313's? Do these decks have a better track record than the C.314's? I'm just looking for an inexpensive set of backups to my M-audio Xponent in case its fails on me.. (which is has twice during two separate gigs). The store I'm buying them from usually sells the 313's for an amazing price during boxing week and i was going to pick myself up a pair. Is it worth it?

  • The C.313 do have a better track record, but if you ever have a problem with them, Stanton repair sucks, so you are on your own. I've known people who have sent their decks back two or three times, and still have problems. A nice backup deck would be the American Audio CDI500, and if scratching and effects are not important, the CDI300 MP3 are going to around $130 + free ship on Ebay. Smaller job wheel, but better reliability.

  • Thanks for the advice,

    Seb from Ottawa

  • It sounds like you know what you're talking about... What about the Denon DN-S1000? Its in approximately the same price range and seems to be solidly built. Have you done any repairs on these decks?

  • Have not had a chance to play on the Denon DNS1000's, but they look like nice decks. The platter is about the size of a CD from my understanding, and from what I hear, it is pressure sensitive, and requires a fair amount of pressure, so probably not the best for scratching, but other than that, and very nice compact deck. Denon makes good CD decks.

  • You should also take a look at the new DNS1200 decks. They are at a good price as well, are a bit better built than the DNS1000's, can do MP3's off a USB, and also act as a midi controller... pretty slick... I don't know what the platter is like though.

  • i own the 324's and they also have the same cue/play button problems. started happening after about 2 months. is there any information on how to repair them

  • Vinyl was just so simple

  • feel like chucking them out the window! haha

  • Yes, that is a feeling shared by many...LOL. I've done all the fixes, and still having issues with one deck.

  • if you turn them off then on again they are ok for a while.i'm not sure if Stanton are any better at sorting stuff out in the UK!! I'll have to investigate.

  • I bought a couple of these second hand one recently keeps saying no disc! the other does similar but not as often and the cue and play buttons stick. Just pissed off really :(

  • Ook ppl .. Please reply to me about this ...

    Should i buy a pioneer cdj 200 for 444 or one of these c.324 for 449 ?

  • CDJ200 will not give you the amount of features, and you can't scratch on it, but it is ROCK SOLID reliable, and a good choice for the non-scratching DJ that doesn't need a load of effects, and has very accurate pitch control. If you want the same kind of features the C.314-324, I recommend the American Audio CDI500 for $400, same feature set, much better track record, and warranty service will take care of you, if you get a lemon. Stanton will NOT take care of you.

  • wow that's so cool. Where'd you go to school to be a repair technician/what kind of things do you repair?

  • well, if you don't recommend this..what do you recommend?

  • Got to my Youtube page, and view the current featured video. I think I'll make it a video response to this video as well.

  • Yup, now it is a video response. The recommendation, is geared toward a deck with the most similiar features and price range to the C.314, but with a good track record. Of course, if you can afford them, the CDJ800's or better are the best.

  • thanks

  • am gettin these soon :)

  • I think that would be a bad idea, unless you like to repair your own decks. They have a high failure rate. Worked out for me, because I am an electronics repair tech by day. Take a look at the American Audio CDI500, same feature set, MUCH better track record and reliability for about the same price.

  • does 324 got problems too ?

  • We don't know. Pretty sure that most of the problems are resolved, but they haven't acknowledged that there is a button problem at all, so the C.324 may have the same button problem. However, a person I know fiddled with one a bit in a store, said the buttons felt different. If it was my money, I'd feel better about it going on CDI500's, or a Denon DNS1200 right now, until the C.324 gets a track record.

  • hey man can you please post a playlist of the songs that played in your video? thanks

  • colour your scratches in on your jogwheel with a permanant marker pen...it works but i have the same problem with my start button

  • That was actually a very good suggestion, for those who don't want to go to the effort of refinishing the platter. I really didn't, so I used a marker pen as you suggested, worked fine :) If you look up close, you can tell, but for the average person standing a few feet away, nope, can't tell :)

  • i am in a pickle. I am either buying the stanton ST150s but i have limited vinyl. Or i was going to invest in the c313 or 314s because of the fact that its digital and have more options. I am an absolute newbie to mixing would appreciate any comments. I feel i want to learn vinyl but whether i have the patience to get a good collection together as opposed to the 1000's of CD's i have. Thanks for the vid

  • Yeah, I wish I could recommend the C.314 decks to you. You won't want the C.313, for your purposes, as they have no vinyl emulation/scratch, but otherwise have not heard complaints about them. If you have the money, the Pioneer CDJ400 or CDJ800 are the weapon of choice, as far as CD, but if you like the C.314 feature set, and if you don't mind a slightly smaller platter, the American Audio CDI500 has exactly the same feature set, with a much better track record, and better support.

  • For those people who are looking in the $400, I have started recommending the CDI500. I found American Audio to be more helpful with getting parts for repair, for the Stanton C.314, than from Stanton, if that tells you anything. I think American DJ/Audio have been stepping up there game that last year or so.

  • ma cue buttons have stopped workin as well, sometimes the effects done work either

  • Your effects aren't working? Huh, haven't heard of anyone having trouble with the effects, previously. There are certain effects you can not chain together, and there is a limit I think of 3 effects you can chain at once. The effects buttons use a different tact switch. That's not to say you couldn't have an effects button problem, but it is not a common problem.

  • thanks good vid, as we all know, the c.324 were released in Jan. 08, and are supposed to have been rid of these problems.

I get my m.304 mixer tomorrow and hopefully my decks next week. Stanton is awesome!

  • They do not believe there is any problem with the buttons, and therefore they have not addressed the tact switch problems. As far as I know, they may be using the same tact switches in the C.324. Stanton couldn't tell me either way. Yes, other than the tact switches, I think they have probably tackled the other issues, but if your Play button stops working at a gig? I'd feel better about it if Stanton would have addressed it as a problem.

  • what repairs do u suggest i do to my 314 so the cue button doesn get stuck and another problem i saw was that they cut of for no reason at some points

  • Email me as detailed a description as you can of the problem from my page, and I will see what I can do to help you out on each count. Does your Cue button get physically stuck in a position, or "electronically" stuck?

  • thats happenin tae me, my cue button wont work sometimes and I've had my decks for 4 months

  • Pioneer makes the best audio products if you can afford them.

  • I really like the Pioneer DJ gear out there. My dream mixing setup would be a pair of CDJ800MKII's and a DJM400 or better mixer. Unfortunately, I get paid Behringer wages where I live. If you want to make a living as a mobile here, you have to be running 3 systems with 2 additional DJ's under you. Anyone want to give me their old CDJ800's? LOL

  • I am actually starting to have problems with the decks. I have 2 Stanton C.314s and one of them reverse on their own from time to time which really really pisses me off when I try to mix correctly as It just reverses all of a sudden, then with the other deck it would not eject the disk, I keep pressing eject, it stops and nothing happens. Does anyone know of any solutions? If any of these problems occured during a gig I would be seriously screwed, I dont know how much I can trust these decks.

  • First, Stanton has a firmware update, with instructions on how to install the firmware. Go to their website, look for the section on the C.314, and click on the update tab for this information. For the eject problem, your button is probably going out. If you happen to know someone who works in the electronics field, is good with soldering, I can recommend a good replacement switch for cheap :)

  • I did the update on the other deck, as the cd tray does open. For the one that doesnt, it just says open and the cd stops, then nothing happens.

  • That Eject button switch is bad for sure. It will need to be replaced. Where are you located?

  • u certainly have done ur homework on this theres no denying that!

  • CDG?? wtf?

please stop discouraging people from buying these...of course with everything, some people are going to have problems but if u look at the amount of people who are completely satisfied with these, it outweighs the negatives

  • I meant CDJ -- I corrected myself in the video, if you look closer at the running text, didn't want to redo the video again because of it. Yes, I know, CDJ. Read below, I have done my homework. Do a search out at djforums, you won't have to look long to see a LOT of people having problems. Also pay attention when you do that search, to how Stanton Customer service handled the returns, every time.

  • If Stanton want's to reinvent their warranty/repair department, and if their new C.324 deck gets a good track record behind it, I'd be happy to recommend them. I am not a Stanton hater. I also have a Stanton mixer that I like, and a Stanton Dual CD player that I've never had a problem with. Perhaps I need to do a video on this deck showing the tarnishing effect inside the old switches I removed, would that make my point better?

  • You're very correct in warning again these decks. The tact switch problem is frustrating a whole lot of people, but stanton do not acknowledge it. They have eliminated some of the problems with the c.324 but i'm not sure about the tact switches. Sleeperawaken36 can you recommend a good switch replacement that i could get in/shipped australia? Cheers man

  • Hey dude don't discourage people into not buying these. If you got a lemon, it doesnt mean everyone else will. If you are low on money, definetly buy these. But i respect you for this walkthrough, and im sorry you got a lemon.

  • Lots and lots of people have lemons of these units. I've been following these decks for several years before my purchase of these used damaged units. I have a thread at DJforums about it. Just do a search at DJforums about these decks, you will find lots of people complaining about the same failures, and not a single good experience with Stanton's warranty service. I didn't just research this for two minutes and post, I did my homework. Read the extend info about this video post.

  • I like these decks, and I wish I could recommend them, but with the issues that these decks have, and a customer service department that from all experiences I've read about, doesn't fix the problem, and does cosmetic damage to the units they repair, I just can't recommend them. Sure, you might get a good unit, but it's a roll of the dice, and at $300 a piece (was $400), those are expensive dice.

  • what was the song you were playin throoughout the video???

  • Danger The Bomb (vandalism remix) - Tonight Only

  • yeah dude my brake/play buttons is sum times unresponsive i got to hit it 2wice

  • Awesome walkthrough! I'm picking up a set soon :D

  • Read the info on the side, I don't recommend them. It worked out for me, because I was able to get them cheap, and I happen to be a repair tech. The failure rate on them is rather high, so unless you are a repair tech too... The new C.324's might be better.

  • im counting on them being better as i have already ordered a pair. $660 for both at sam ash.

  • Did you get the C.324's? If so, I'd like to hear how they turn out :) I am hoping they are more reliable than the C.314's. The C.314 decks are really nice, reliability is the only real issue.

  • Holy shit dude...my goddamn C.303 does that random resetting shut down thing. PLEASE tell me I have a lemon in case Stanton doesn't want to replace it because it was a refurb product. LEMON LAW FTW!

  • Primarily the C.314 has been the problem deck for Stanton. Haven't heard much bad about the C.313 or the C.304. Didn't even know there was a C.303 until you mentioned it, looks like the predecessor of the C.313 if I am right? Message me as detailed of a description as you can of symptoms. Does it shut down completely, or just flutter and all your setting are reset to default?

  • As mentioned in the information to the side of this video, the C.324 sounds like it resolves all of the issues with the exception of the button problem. It may or may not be using the same buttons, I was unable to talk to anyone at Stanton that knew for sure, one way or another. It may be reliable, on the other hand, you might push Play and have nothing happen one day. Without knowing more, I can't recommend them.

  • Honestly, I wish I could recommend them, when they work good, they are very nice. Scratching is pretty decent from what I can tell at my pre-school level of scratching...LOL. Certainly a LOT better than my midi controller.

  • You probably don't want this deck. Read the information on the side of the video. It is unreliable, unless you want to do what I did, fix it and replace the switches with better switches. It can be made reliable, but you shouldn't have to spend even $300 each on something you will need to fix.

  • Take a really good look at American Audio's CDI500. Stanton, American Audio, and a few other manufacturers all bought the same design. Stanton's looks cosmetically different, but electronically they are identical, minus one memory pad, and with a smaller jog/scratch wheel. However, American Audio's version does not have the bad track record of the C.314, and their customer service is actually quite good.

  • Oh no... now we know you can fix stuff... HA! Nice new decks man!

  • Well not everything, and it becomes less likely without a schematic. Hence, I asked a lot of questions first, talked to Stanton, talked to the seller who was admirably honest. I'm having a lot of fun with them already, maybe I'll just do a vid with a quick mix on them just for fun. It should be easier now with my camera I don't have to borrow :)

  • that's 1 way to save money 5*****
