John was cool then but writers were stupid enough to completely shift his personnality. So many bad decisions were taken by the writers, ruining the show.
@potat3o I've seen a whole show man... And that scene although is emotional it's totally retarded...Only a mad man would want something like that and Lock doesn't seem like one....
@conspiritor2 Locke is delusional. He pretends to be in the military, he tries to have a serious relationship with a call girl, and invites her to the walkabout (she tells him to see a therapist). He tries to live a life that he simply cannot. He even brings up Norman Croucher, a double amputee who climbed Mt. Everest when his boss teases him about the trip. So yeah, he is kind of mad at this point of his life.
John Locke is awesome. Though I have to admit that Season 4-onward he became a bit stupid and dictatorlike. And of course he never learned to just GAG Ben for cryin' out loud.
I like how John, after standing up for the first time in years, has the look on his face as if he's just lost his virginity, and everyone else is screaming in horror at the impending situation.
I remember this being the moment when I realized that this television show was not like other television shows. This was something very different. This was something special.
This was the exact scene that convinced me I was watching the greatest show in television history. It represents everything that made Lost special. All these years later this scene still leaves me in awe and wishing a show this amazing would come along again.
@chad3232132 Completely feel the same. It started off well but this scene let you know that you were going to be watching something truly special. This scene never loses it's appeal. I remember the first time watching this scene, my jaw dropped at the revelation of Locke and stayed dropped for about five minutes. Fantastic music, storytelling, and acting, typical LOST.
I totally remember seeing this episode for the first time. At the beginning I was like "Why are we back at the plane crash?" and then this part happened, and when it showed his foot again I was seriously like =OOOOOOOOOO R.I.P. LOST =')
Very powerful scene and a great series. Shame about the religious nonsense at the end but I guess it had to satisfy the main strream audience in the land of the free. Also made me wish there was an afterlife and that everything always turns out for the best and everyone lives, even in death. I guess we all are searching for a better life and to escape the realities of human existance. LOST certainly provided me with some quality escapism.
@Rude666 If it wasn't religious, wtf was it? A happy ending offering us all redemption and happiness in an afterlife. Or was I watching some other programme? I'm not knocking LOST, I just wish they had come up with an ending that didn't rely on invoking the monotheist god. BSG did the same thing. Surely it would be easier and more inventive to create a new fairy tale than to use an old and predictable fairy tale?
The best thing about this scene is how it makes a plane crash with people screaming in the background feel like the most triumphant scene in television history.
this moment got me into lost i just tought everithing was soo good the music his story' makes you want to watch the show, even more:) I CAN DO THIS DAMMIT :)

best ending of any Lost episode...this was the episode that if you kept watching you were in till the end and if it didn't make you want to keep watching you were a fool
@NeoOsiris19 Made even more powerful when you consider the effects of this scene on the rest of the series. Honestly, I can't say I've ever seen or will ever see a more well developed show than this. Nostalgic is an understatement.
I remember when I first started getting into LOST last summer, I borrowed all the DVDs from a friend to watch and as soon as it got to that part where Locke is revealed to have been in a wheelchair, that was the moment I went, "Okay. This is going to be a hell of a show."
this was the first episode that made me a certifiable LOSTIE. why? do i need an explanation? watch it over again and tell me if this didn't make you a fan of the show.

garysgreat 3 months ago
@garysgreat It was spiritual, not religious.
The journey of lost is described in the episode of which this video is about.
A walkabout is journey of spiritual renewal where one derives strength from the earth and becomes insepperable from it.
The ending had nothing to do with religion. In fact the ending basically said that religion doesnt matter. We are all equal and there is no god.
