I just bought a tornado (2nd cat had a Hobie 16 beforehand.) But sadly I now have a broken mast (too much wind.) .... maybe i'll get at it next year. Great vid by the way!

The upwind speed of the Tornado is absolutely amazing. Looking at some of the shots in this video... they must be able to do something like 18 knots upwind.

Maarstrom makes 'em - last I heard they where about $25K: generally best bought new because the older ones tend have had the crap sailed out of 'em in races.

Not for the feint of heart - the Formula 1 of sailing.

The other option is to go AAA league with an F-18, almost as fast, easier to right, easier to sail - generally under $20K new. The Nacra Infusion being the state of the art at the moment.

cuz the committee that voted was 9 mono hullers and 1 multi (tornado) huller... so it was a 9-1 vote. and then US Sailing reviewed the ruling and said it was INVALID!!!! but they decided to keep the ruling anyways... even though they said it was wrong...

if you wanna sail tri's check out this little 14 footer called a weta. the thing is seriously the fastest little thing on the planet, it handles 40 knot gusts like nothing, and really planes the water when you get it going 15-20 knots.
