  • Oh my God!

    Sounds like a toy...........

  • @almatom74 That's a bit harsh, but hmmm I you are right!

I have the SD50 which is virtually the same product, but although it doesn't sound as bad as this demo, it is a brilliant interface, but it is not the standard you would expect from Roland on the sound canvas side. ;-)

  • @2SugarsPleeze

Is it true that the SD-50 does not transmit smf songs out of the midi out jack to play thru another module? On RolandClan site they said only midi backup can come out of midi out.

  • @rcknrllmn FROM THE MANUAL (hope it helps?)

*USING THE SD50) AS A MIDI INTERFACE*

You can connect a MIDI keyboard to the SD50 and use it as a MIDI interface for your computer.

This lets you create song data by playing your MIDI keyboard.

*AS AN SMF/AUDIO PLAYER* USB memory stick with Midi or Audio files can be played by the SD50 as a stand alone.

As it has MIDI in & out, you should be able to use other midi devices as expanders????

    Can anyone else confirm?

  • thanks good review, would have liked to hear the midi files played though

  • this is end of the world: IT SAYS "KORG" ON A ROLAND SOUND MODULE 1:02

  • @leandrusi

    it says (ORG) organ

  • @tomasdojcan i know ;)

  • old Roland JV modules sound way better, they are warmer and have more interesting/ unique sounds.

  • Am I the only one who thinks the Sonic Cell looks very Jacob Jensen in design? Reminds me of the late 80s Bang & Olufsen gear.

  • Why it doesn't have MIDI THRU?..

  • @graywolf2004ru because I told Roland not to put it

  • I can shit better brass sounds than Roland can produce. Seriously though, this does sound pretty shit, I just like the the way it looks :3

  • what would the midi out be used for. no midi thru? no keys to send?

Would someone recommend this over a Juno G... Need it for big strings and SuperSaw trance pads. Thanks x

  • @ 2:30, apple mac startup chord!

  • hi everybody Im focker? WTF .. hahaha. greay playing anyway

  • @pomfrit93 I'ts "Volker"! that'sa german name

  • @PrinceMarv yeah yeah yeah..

  • I see a korg M3 atthe back!!!play that instead!!

  • As for me it doesn't sound for $999. The player (USB stick) and USB computer connection is helpful but sound module sounds looks like from 80s, real instruments (strings and brass) sounds like from cheap Yamaha, not real at all ... so looks like it doesn't come close to inexpensive soft synths or I might have been mistaken. Just my opinion after listening to this video.

  • Why doesn't anyone just buy a Fantom S and call it a day. Non of the roland products have changed much at all since the Fantom S. I guarantee you'll be happy you bought one and saved a whole lot of money for a superb peace of equipment. Trust me.

  • @looprode Keep in mind this is basically a Fantom X in a box; just without the sampling. It also has some of the new G series waveforms and the cleaner outputs of the new G series models. Just got one for 380!

  • His good command of English means I was able to fully understand and this is probably the best demo of this device on YouTube. Very useful - and I'll be buying one soon!

  • fantom x

  • "... sounds from the roland fantom series"

    x or g? :)

  • Needs to cut his fingernails.

  • @osummuso he most likely uses them for finger picking on guitar.

  • Warum wird hier nicht deutsch gesprochen?

  • weil [ENGL.] im Titel steht

  • lol, good reason :D
