I pay $300 a month for treatment with only $1400 a month income from disability. Reform is needed for sure and there needs to be something done but forcing us to all have insurance without insurance reform is not the way to go. Mandatory insurance wouldn't be that bad if we weren't dealing with people that currently drop customers when they actually use the insurance. The insurance companies are scum and need to be dealt with before we are forcing everyone to pay them. Everyone should be able to get care but i don't think we are there yet.

I was more talking about paying into federally operated healthcare, rather than plans operated by a traditional insurance company. We are not a democracy until we start investigating these insurance pulls in the cases where someone who is paying their premium died because of a pre-existing condition.

The way I see it I'm already paying into medicare and social security without an option to decline doing so, and will probably never benefit from either in the future, nor do I have health insurance now. If I have to pay for my own health insurance, I don't see a big deal, IMO.

The Republican "cost control" is basically to introduce more players into an inherently corrupt game. That doesn't sound very convincing to me. They're relying on Adam Smith's "Invisible Hand" theory in a non-free market (the health industry is an oligopoly/cartel). That's not smart.
Their plan also does nothing to stop people from being dropped due to loopholes or insure that everyone is covered. It doesn't bring down medication costs or the amount we spend on healthcare.
What is the most concerning to me about all this is forced insurance. I don't trust insurance companies and feel like this is sponsored by them and in the end will cause us to all get ripped off by them even more than we do today.
I see nothing wrong with requiring everyone to carry minimum health insurance just like automobile insurance. Heck...I haven't been to the doctor's in almost 3 years because I haven't been sick but I still pay my premiums every month. Where do you think that money goes? It goes to pay for the costs of those who are being treated and not paying because they don't have insurance. I'd much rather that money go towards people who can't afford it and are on tough times.

They don't just give it away for nothing that doesn't make sense. Reform is needed for sure and there needs to be something done but forcing us to all have insurance without insurance reform is not the way to go. Mandatory insurance wouldn't be that bad if we weren't dealing with people that currently drop customers when they actually use the insurance. The insurance companies are scum and need to be dealt with before we are forcing everyone to pay them. Everyone should be able to get care but i don't think we are there yet.

I was more talking about paying into federally operated healthcare, rather than plans operated by a traditional insurance company. We are not a democracy until we start investigating these insurance pulls in the cases where someone who is paying their premium died because of a pre-existing condition.
Fact of the matter is, if you profit from someone dying because you refused to give them the help they paid for, and the help that they deserve, then you should be considered for manslaughter charges.
Otherwise they are above the law and we are not in a true democracy, but an oligarchy.

Like I said it's complicated but my problem with your first answer was the anger. I've tried to look at both sides of the issue. I worked with a lot of illegals and found them admirable in many ways. A bus boy I worked with was a teacher in S. America and just wanted to provide for his family and getting a job as a bus boy paid more then a teacher. his work ethic was incredible and put the americans working with him to shame. The Republican "cost control" is basically to introduce more players into an inherently corrupt game. That doesn't sound very convincing to me. They're relying on Adam Smith's "Invisible Hand" theory in a non-free market (the health industry is an oligopoly/cartel). That's not smart.
Their plan also does nothing to stop people from being dropped due to loopholes or insure that everyone is covered. It doesn't bring down medication costs or the amount we spend on healthcare.

I see nothing wrong with requiring everyone to carry minimum health insurance just like automobile insurance. Heck...I haven't been to the doctor's in almost 3 years because I haven't been sick but I still pay my premiums every month. Where do you think that money goes? It goes to pay for the costs of those who are being treated and not paying because they don't have insurance. I'd much rather that money go towards people who can't afford it and are on tough times.

They don't just give it away for nothing that doesn't make sense. Agreed. Cenk needs to take a Valium once in a while. Chill, the PO will be in there, it would be momumentally boneheaded if its not, just chill. Maybe I can send Cenk all my junk e-mail with offers of free Valium. I might not send him the ones for free Xanax though.
