Because of the use of 3 violins, it makes the range of tones quite high and narrow and after listening up until 2:00, there reaelly was much movement and a lot of it was parallel giving you a pale effect in the music. Also there were quite a few parallel dissonances along with parallel 4ths making the music again blend into one voice and become pale. I just think it needed a different aproach like counterpuntal ideas maybe. Sorry if I seem harsh, I just wanted to give you my perspective on it.
Thanks a lot for the feedback. I can only agree with what you've said. I Wrote this comp a few years ago now and it was one of my first, so obviously there was going to be room for improvement. Since then I have arranged it for string quartet giving it a much fuller sound and also modified it a bit, well actually, a lot. Once again many thanks for the feedback.
i think this is really good! although i would have added a bassline to it to give it a thicker texture...
