  • You guys are all wrong. It's about a guy who is in love with a girl who he believes to be an 'angel' but then he found out she isn't so great so he and her break up. He realizes what he has done and wants to commit suicide.

  • This reminds me of Kate and Adam's relationship in East of Eden :3

  • I listen to this song when Im sad/depressed.... which isnt healthy but this song is too awesome to pass up.

  • Latinos to star in a television comedy series

  • Its about a disfuntional relationship, where the female is a manipulative love aviodant and leaves him, and he becomes utterley depressed due to his love addiction, and can't find happiness in anything without her, even if shes horrible for him.

  • its because they crashed

    he lived

  • @dakilla816 I would of rather had this song than Andy you're a star. On the UK edition of the album

  • @HectorofOstia123 hahahahaha fuck me you should be a comedian :I and ill right that down in the book of funny :L:L:L:L what a cock

  • @MrSUTTY123 HAHA YOU'RE GAY TOO

  • @HectorofOstia123 Well obviously you don't know what real music is. HA. Who's "GAY" now? If you don't like it then why are you here I mean honestly? Wow... I bet you can't even sound as good as them even if you tried your hardest. I bet it's better than the crap you fill your stupid little head with. Thumbs up if you think The Killers kick ass.

  • well, either way its a good song. and its worth listening to. but this doesn't sound like the song on the CD. same song, played diff.

  • to afierwnw sti kolliti m xloi k sto malaka ts!;p

  • OK.i love it!:)

  • Seriously, who gives a crap what the song is about??!? Its good, isn't it? Then shut it. People believe what they want to.That is all, now I'm gonna eat my toast.

  • First of all.. are we really arguing over the METAPHORICAL meaning of a song here? Personally, I believe both could be right, but that's just me. Everyone has their own opinion. That's what art's about; no one knows what it really means but the creator.

And second: I love this song. Just sayin'. The beat is great and I love the lyrics. But I can't ever seem to find this version...

  • this song makes me wanna cry!*~

i feel soo bad 4 him..

  • Is it wrong that I find this song quite uplifting?? The "kill me now" bit. It is weird, isn't it?

  • I think this song is about a guy who's in love with this girl who has a lot of problems. She might have a drug addiction or other problems and she's just bad news but he doesn't see that

and she doesn't love him back?

No God and Satan, no romantic car crash? That's just crap

  • Every song that has a metophorical meaning behind it is interperated by everyone else differently.Personally I think this song is about a man deeply in love with a women and she has hurt him and he just wants to die because she is the only girl in life he wants.

  • i LOVE HOW MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER IS LIKE BFF'S WITH EVERY MEMBER IN THIS BAND, AND THEY SAY "CRIMINAL MINDS" IN THE SONG. Gubler plays reid in a show called criminal minds. this little thing just made my day.

  • if their is one thing i have lernt by reading these comments is everone tries to find a deeper meaning when their is no deeper meaning your just and idoit with nothing better to do than fake meanings of songs its a song the words were written not really for meaning just because they sound good and by the way i like the killers really good band

  • @ufuckers32 no mate, about 90% of the killers songs have a meaning behind it, thus being a metaphor for something, in this case a car crash with a female which dies in the crash and he survives. that thought eats into him. so it looks like your the idiot who never looks deeper into the songs you listen to.

  • awesome song by the killers i love it!

  • I prefer this version to the album version. it's only slightly different, but I like the repetition of "the same the same the same" and "tied UP to a dream" souns better than "tied to a dream" To me, anyway. And also it seems louder :)

  • hey guys I'm like soooo surprised no one has actually got what the song is about, because to me it's kinda obvious. it's about a guy who is involved in a car crash with his girlfriend : she dies, he survives. but he's desperate about having her back and her memory haunts him, he wants to die to see her once again. if you see all the lyrics under this light, they all make perfect sense. definitely a good song by the killers.

  • @SirXander i think that is right lol ;)

  • @SirXander thank u and yeh it makes so much sense now tht i realize it thanx so much

  • no worries, you don't need to thank me. I just posted my opinion about a song I really like. I'm actually pretty glad that it was useful for someone. I should be thanking you instead for appreciating my point of view. xD see ya.

  • @SirXander So right! I love this song but never realised this thanks alot!

  • noo.. it's a metaphor.

The girl is messing with his head, she never returns any love to him and he doesnt know what to do,

  • no. your interpretation doesn't match some parts of the lyrics, you cannot explain why he wants to be killed by her that way. plus the line "heaven sends and h. takes" really suggests someone being taken away in a physical from the main character. consider the title itself, which alludes to the struggle inside the guy, who wants to end it all. not to mention the fact that a cousin of mine, from Boston, told me Flowers said "this one is about death and loss" introducing this song at a concert.

  • hopelessly in love a girl he believes to be an "angel".

Basically telling you love is blind "Hidden under his eyes"

And that even though people seem to have a "halo and wings" they are not always who you think they are

"But she's an angel for sure

She just can't stop telling lies".

"But it's too late for his love

    Already caught in a trap

His angel's kiss was a joke

And she is not coming back"

He caught her doing something wrong and found out she was not an "angel" so he is very disappo

  • No it isnt.

  • @SirXander No it has nothing to do with a car crash, christ people aren't smart. It's a metaphor, stop taking everything so literal

  • @SirXander agreed:)

  • @SirXander are you serious or is this a joke? Im not making fun of u just cant tell

  • @lakerfan0215 I'm absolutely serious.

  • @SirXander I don't think so, when he says "crashing cars in his brains" he's referrin to his confussion, not an actual car crash,. Otherwise it would't be followed by "she just can't stop telling lies". It is really about a guy who loved a girl, and they hook up, but for her it`s just a meaningles one night stand

  • @gabriellebjork3 I prefer to see it in some kind of a come-back perspective. to me "she just can't stop telling lies" is about her memory in the guy's mind. her memory haunts him, and keeps telling him things he knows not to be true. when a friend of mine died, I kept thinking about her, and remembering her I just kept thinking "she's still here, she's not gone" but in the end I knew they were just lies I was telling to myself to preserve her memory.

  • @SirXander the song makes perfect sense anyway, but the way i see it, he is (also) dreaming about the crash, reliving it over and over...

  • @AussieDingo17 yeah, might be possible indeed.

  • @SirXander that makes sence

  • @SirXander You're wrong. stop

  • @SirXander and u got into this conclusion how?????

  • @SirXander Yup, Heaven sent her, and took her, he dreams of the crash, and he can't let it go. And he wants to die.

  • @Artamentous thanks a lot, man. 'cause there is people who still totally fail in getting it -.- . I mean, it's not that complex xD

  • @SirXander Aw man, you made me sad. The James Dean part makes sense now.

  • @itzjames hey heey i didn't get it! is it because James Dean died in a car accident?or something else...

  • @MrMilkyMonster Yeah he did die in a car accident :/

  • @SirXander i was thinking something along those lines but it took me a a few times of listening to this song to put it together

  • @SirXander its a good theory but my only question would be..just cause it says "crashing cars in his brain" doesnt make it obvious that he was in a car accident. Besides music is relative. Alot of people can take alot of things from the words. But I see what you mean.

  • @VanGTO49 of course music is relative. I used the word "obvious" because I find it to be rather an easy one to put together. See, I listen a lot to lyrics by people like steven wilson or tom yorke, and I pretty much think the killers are way simpler to understand from a lyrical point of view.

  • @SirXander Or maybe it's about an imaginary girl who's good and bad at the same time that his friend is in love with? Or Brandon's(Or whoever wrote this song) friend who met an amazing girl, and he can't get her off of his mind, and he thinks he's going crazy? And I think what whoever-wrote-this-song meant that 'he' is going crazy by talking about cars crashing in 'his' brain. -G. Barber

  • @SirXander What a crap, u cannot see allegory. His life is under the gun cuz she is upredictable, she is so impulsive, though she is an angel (which remains to be seen)

Grow up already, have a girfriend and put that melancholy version of yours into trashcan. Thanks in advance!

  • @Kppot you clearly have some unresolved personal problems on a psychological level. it's an interpretation. that's all. you can see it my way, or you can see it yours. it's as simple as that. I never implied my interpretation to be the only right one. so please find another way to assert your ego that doesn't include blabbering arrogantly. thanks in advance.

  • @SirXander wow, too many letters, cannot read them! Advice #1 - do not judge people on their own. Advice #2 - grow up, it is time!

  • @SirXander no. actually criminal mind? what does that have to do? its about shes tourturing him. like a bad girlfriend but she has in under her thumb

  • @SirXander it would be too easy, specially when it says "crashing cars"

  • @SirXander I´d say its about a relationship... the guy is in love with a mean woman and he is suffering because of that. Or maybe it has double meaning, artists do that a lot.

  • @SirXander

    that's not it at all.

she's a cheater and simply used him for a little bit. he fell in love, she didn't. he knows she doesn't want to see him again, so he asks his friend to kill him now. she's a cheater and all around whore. yes. no car crash here.

  • @SirXander Umm... no. It is about a guy who is in love with a girl who doesn't love him back. She lies to him and cheats on him(she's an angel for sure, she just can't stop telling lies), but he still loves her. The "crashing cars in his brain" is just the push and pull he feels toward her, because he knows she isn't a good person/girlfriend whatever, but still loves her (it isn't an actual car crash). He's tied up to a dream and only she can set him free (by actually loving him or just leav

  • @TheTheloraxster yepp i agree with this version of the meaning of the song.

  • @TheTheloraxster its kinda a mix to me, about love and a car crash, because he does say "heaven sends and heaven takes, crashing cars in his brain" and it also says "stupid on the streets of london, james dean in the rain",and if you know who james dean was, he had a premature death in a car accident :]

  • @TheTheloraxster It's "for show" not "for sure." The person who made this video got it wrong. And also, like NexAdruin said, art can be interpreted multiple ways, that's why it art!

  • @Seriouslylovnsirius8 ur wrong i looked it up i clicked on 3 diffrent lyrics and it said 4 sure

  • @TheTheloraxster completely true. It doesn't sound anything like a car crash.

  • @TheTheloraxster no i think he/she is right... "james dean in the rain" implies a car accident (because thats how he died) and when he says "stupid on the STREETS of london" they were obviously fooling around while they were driving in london. "and she is not coming back" indicates death and "crashing acrs in his brain" is just obvious. btw, this versions way better than the other one :P

  • @TheTheloraxster thats a perfect explanation, couldn't have said it better myself. he wrote a lot about that experience. Mr. Brightside, Get Trashed, Desperate, Under The Gun and Replaceable

  • i like it!!!!!!!!!

  • I thought it was coming out coming out coming out coming out coming out coming out

  • it sounds like the relationship between satan and God,I've always liked the Killers and their lyrics are deeper than most think

  • Ts, they know they have to with inspirations like Joy Division!

  • @reynaldod7 Wouldn't that be a bit gay?

  • definitivamente son los mejores

  • I love this song sooo much! Thanks for posting it!

  • love this song!

And only she can set him free

And then he says to me

Kill me now, kill me now, !!!

  • What is this song about?

  • @BouyertheDestroyer I`m guessing that it`s about a guy who`s in love with this perfect girl (an angel) and she just taunts him with like kisses and stuff but won`t love him back :)

  • Cause it sounds good! haha

  • Why are you watching this?

  • some twat sent me the link

  • its not a bad song. to artifical for my taste but its got a really good melody, and a good beat.

  • Artificial?

  • Because is a fantasti song!!!

  • AMAZING SONG! Ends a bit suddenly though...

Can someone do a guy/marian vid to this song? The lyrics are just too perfect NOT to!! :D

  • The Killers first cd ever titled The Killers, 4 songs: replaceable, mr. brightside, under the gun, and desperate

  • isnt the album called sawdust?

  • yeah this song was on sawdust but i think it was also like a bonus track or something on sams town.

  • It was a bonus on Hot Fuss before Sawdust

  • it was a bonus on both but before Hot Fuss was even released, the killers released a self titled cd, they gave them out at their concerts and Under the Gun was on it

  • you're right,best killers song :)

  • the best killers song!!!

  • good song!!!

  • god this song is amazing....

i just wish i couldnt relate to it....

  • Comment removed

  • this was on hot fuss not sawdust...

    I flippin love this song

  • Favorite Killers' song ever. <3 it so much (:

  • The Song rocks! It´s really fantastic!!

  • I like the Bonus Track better then the Album version. Its almost exactly the same, but in the "Kill me now's" you can hear back up voices, while in the album version you can't, and that just bothers me.

  • what album is this on? i bought a hot fuss album in malaysia in 2005 it had all the songs but with this song at the end...? its not on the normal hot fuss album is it?

  • Its the Bonus Track.

  • I found the lyrics of this song written in the cover of my used Biology book. :P

  • really? thats weird

  • Hahaha! Oh and this song is also on Sawdust.

  • love this song just wish i could find some good tabs 4 it

  • lufcmunich58

If you haven't found good tabs yet then look up "thenuke126" on YouTube and click one of his many guitar covers then in more info you should see a link to angelfire leading to his own typed tabs

He is really good and says he watches what Dave plays during live shows to find out what he plays and most of it is 100% or a little less accurate

  • Probably the best killers song

  • I have the song from Sawdust and I would always skips it. But then once I listened to it and now i adore it!!!!

  • That's what I did with the Sam's Town album. I would skip every song but This River Is Wild. Once I started listening to the other songs, I loved them.

  • FUCKING AMAZING SONG.
