This. This is one of my favourite Trek episodes EVER. One of the first to portray an Ayn-Randesque controlled world and the fate that would mean for humanity. Plus Kirk's first experience of talking a computer to death. Plus he's delicious.
@simplecoffee A collective society run by pseudo-religious enforcers such as the one in this episode is the exact opposite of everything Ayn Rand ever advocated. If you really want to join the Rand-hating crusade, you should at least have some informed grasp of why you're doing it.
@TheElectricTurtle I'm not 'joining the Rand-hating crusade'; I admire her, and what I meant was quite the contrary. I know she advocated the opposite of this - but, you see, this is akin to what she *portrayed* in order to advocate the opposite - which, only far less subtly, is what's being done in the episode.

Ironically.....this is the "RED HOUR" RIGHT NOW IN THIS WORLD IN 2009. IRONICALLY THE WORLD HAS GONE CRAZY...AND ALSO IRONICALLY ...ZULU WAS "ABSORBED" AND IS "NOT OF THE BODY OF JESUS CHRIST"......HE IS A FLAMING FAG AND I MEAN FLAMING....IT IS TOO TOO BAD THAT ZULU WENT THIS WAY...AND WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PAY FOR HIS CRIME BY ROTTING IN HELL....I CANT BELIEVE HOW PROUD GEORGE IS OF HIS "FAGDOM".....LIKE THEY ALL ARE....I HOPE HE CAN REPENT SOMEDAY BUT MOST FAGS DONT....ITS JUST TOO BAD....
@AltoMangaka GEORGE TAKEI....NEEDS TO HEAR IT JUST LIKE THAT. BETTER HIM BE OFFENDED AND THINK ABOUT WHAT HE DOES......THAN TO THINK HE IS RIGHT ALL THE WAY UP TO THE POINT WHERE HE IS BURNING IN HELL, AND IT IS TOO LATE.....
Austin Texas... 6th street... any given evening at the red hour, (5 o'clock... somewhere). "Normal" Texans, (no such thing), misplace there damn minds. Somebody needs to start hawking "The will of Landru" shirts at the SXSW festival.
What? Have ye not heard that we are all brothers in the body, friend? For we must all spread the wealth around, to ensure the good of the body. By ourselves we are nothing, but the body of Landru is all.
Together, in the body we are strong. YES WE CAN!! ... in the body, that is.
I am not of the body that approved of "Shock and Awe." As for spreading the wealth, the only checks I ever got from the Fed (other than overpayment refunds) were from GWB - he called them "economic stimulus payments." Guess he thought it was good for the body to give all the little parts a bribe. Have we ever been more socialistic than during the past 3 months? The body owns Freddie and Fannie. How sick is the body now, friend? 'Tis the will and gift of Bush-dru.
Retard. uaniajam, I totally agree with you. Bush is the worst President in HISTORY. When I think of every other good, great president we had representing our nation and the world... I cringe. We got presidents like Washington, Lincoln, Regan, and now... shudders... Buuuussshh. Grrrr...
Well, I agree with you there, sad though it is,friend.Republicans are pretty much becoming absorbed in the body, including Bush-dru.
But if you think Obama is going to change all that and be a stolid Captain Kirk you must have inhaled those poppy seeds or whatever they were from "This Side of PAradise"
So I stand corrected: a better title is : The World Under liberalism Until Real Conservatives Wake up and Kick Butt
No argument that Bush was a Big Govt. type - but he was not surrounded by a creepy cult, which is the point of the comparison.
And give the guy credit -'shock and awe' WORKED. The war was just brilliant in both its planning and execution - destroy the worlds fourth largest army in a few weeks - just amazing.
"'shock and awe' WORKED. The war was just brilliant" Pah - leeze. Excuse me while I go vomit! Could've saved from 100,000 to 1 million deaths, a few trillion bucks, and had fewer enemies now by sending a few seals over to take out one guy. What a frickin' disaster.
Its a free country! I think this is well thought out by Gene Roddenberry! Landrue, is as bizarre as it gets! Very entertaining and one of my favorites!
rodneyhackenflash/ I agree with your comment this ep has to be one of the best and entertaining ep i have ver seen this is my 3rd favourite episode of Star Trek
Wow, this is a rare episode in my experience. Barely recognize it.

@handonrip You mean "Sulu"? Handron, your fear and hate will consume you.

Your words are quite offensives, and of course, poor.
What you said is not only illogical, but also, undignified.
I suggest you to stop insulting people and take the life with more logic.
