no. pool is british pool. snooker is different, you have to hit in a red, then a colour, and the colours get replaced when they get potted, but the reds don't. there's probably more to it than that, (all the colours have different points), but that's all I know.

there is british pool where there are reds and yellows insteal of stripes and spots and is played on a small table that is easy to fit in pubs. snooker is played on a far bigger table than american pool and needs a lot more skill
