Just remember, a solar flare isnt just something that happens on the surface. That star is enourmous, you could easily fit 1300 planet earth's inside it. Also this was probably just some random scene from another video clip, but who is to say that our nearest star does not have an affect on us here on this small rock..

I agree with you. I know next to nothing about solar flares and how they affect the Earth, but I *do* know, many times a significant flare occurs, within a week of that event, unusual weather events take place. But it's a physical impossibility for such events to take place minutes after a flare.
However, I don't believe (not that I know for sure) that a flare can affect the Earth's crust - that's moving plates below the surface.
Actually I am pretty sure that when the coronal mass ejection occurs it sends an initial ultraviolet ray burst that travels at the speed of light , but I am not sure how this effects the earth and then the billion tons of energy follow days later .

you fucking idiot, that was just a normal solar flare, not even close to a CME (Caronal Mass Ejection) who gives a shit that it was 10 minutes before the quake in China, it has no bearing what so ever on earthqaukes and besides energy from solar flares and CME's take HOURS to DAYS to reach earth not minutes.

@bleekerzll well if you remember your science class, it does take like and solar flares around 8 min to reach the earth. we rarely get hit directly by one and that one may have been a direct hit. its a possibility. probably not the actual cause but the timing is interesting none the less

You didn't pay close enough attention. The speed of CME's range from 20km/s to 3200km/s, light travels at 300,000 km/s. CME's are comprised of particles and have mass therefor can't reach the speed of light.

CME's and Solar flares are composed of particles that have mass, as stated above, and are incapable of traveling anywhere near the speed of light. Also please explain how it reaches Mars first even though Mars is further from the Sun than Earth.

Solar protons accelerated to nearly light speed by the explosion reached the Earth-moon system minutes after the flare; it was the beginning of a days-long "proton storm."

@bleekerzll Before you start calling people idiots,It is possible that a solar flare could cause an earthquake due the disruption of the magnetosphere. it's called a Geomagnetic storm. It has been recorded that earthquakes either disrupt magnetosphere or the magnetosphere starts the earthquake. It only takes a solar flare 8 minutes to reach earth, traveling at the speed of light. 2:00 minutes to reach mars, and 6 mins to reach venus.

I agree with you. I know next to nothing about solar flares and how they affect the Earth, but I *do* know, many times a significant flare occurs, within a week of that event, unusual weather events take place. But it's a physical impossibility for such events to take place minutes after a flare.
However, I don't believe (not that I know for sure) that a flare can affect the Earth's crust - that's moving plates below the surface.

Actually I am pretty sure that when the coronal mass ejection occurs it sends an initial ultraviolet ray burst that travels at the speed of light , but I am not sure how this effects the earth and then the billion tons of energy follow days later .

This unusual event had no bearing on any quake, this was my doing. I was attempting to free from confinement the dragon Degor The Fierce; imprisoned in an iron chamber "above the sun's near face" by Kublai Khan's wizard Penali Toris. Sadly I was remiss in calculating the proper wattage required to pull enough matter from the solar surface to break his worthy bonds. Instead I cooked the poor beast in his cage, where he will remain till consumed in the death rattle of the sun's red giant phase.

No, but I used to evade responsibility by claiming twas Ouroboros' restlessness, so shamed was I by my errors.
I have since learned the remarkable circumstance of telling the absolute truth and having people ignore me. When I used to lie, everyone suspected me of the worst things that I was doing anyway. Now I simply say exactly what I have done and they laugh like they think I am joking. No more torches and pitchforks and clubs in the middle of the night outside the castle gates. Marvelous!!

The solar wind contains neutrons. They become mass in the earths core, causing the earth to grow. This causes earthquakes. We should probably check the sun activities during major earthquakes

WolYou: The solar wind contains neutrons, but only bound to carbon and oxygen ions - along with all the other ions, our earth's magnetic field channels them to the poles. There "are" unbound neutrons but these decay into protons/electrons when outside an atomic nucleus. It's a creative story though, could probably run with it and make a fantasy novel out of it.

I have my doubts. the plasma would have stayed at the highest surface of the earth's atmosphere, it wouldn't have come down to the weather level to make clouds. The clouds show signs of carrying strongly charged Ions at low levels, not something like the Aurora.
