  • Rabbits need straw or hay or some sort of bedding before they get ready to kindle so they can pull their hair to add to the nest. It's amazing she hasn't lost the babies due to the cold if that's all she has in her box.

  • @stevenm73 Thanks for the info....

  • Is the heart you sent me, from one of those HOGS?

  • @GY6vids No it is from one of the ones we just butchered,in Janurary....it was about a 275lb hog....

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom LOL ok=) just got me wondering=) I just put the Hog heart into the Ballistics Gel...LOOKS AWESOME! Going to be shooting it with a 45acp Winchester PDX1 Hollow Point

  • @TheMultiGunMan Thanks!

  • I really love your idea on the raised pen there. I raise a few hogs too for me and family members that live in the city. Excellent meat, no chems, steriods or antibotics! I have been trying to figure out a cleaner way to do the pens and I really like the idea. How big do y ou let yours get? Mine go around 250-275, how stout of lumber do use to carry their weight? Thanks.

  • @bigbaddawn These pigs wont be butchered until JAN 2013 , We do it when it is Cold enough . the foor is 2x4 sawmill oak , anything 8ft and under will work . this is the best way to raise them takes little ground , does not smell much at all ..mountainman

  • "Misty's Country Bed and Breakfast" Just make a shack out back. Have city folk come out for overnight. They do the work for their food. Shoot a few rounds with the kids. Help can some stuff. You charge em 500 bucks for the weekend and laugh till the next ones come. It would work except for the loss of your privacy. Thanks for sharing your lives with us all. Many Blessings.

  • @sixty2jeff Yes that is a thought, but that would also take alot of doing...And like you said no privacy.....Thank you...

  • Keep up the good works...seems some folks are getting a real good look at the down home side of life. Maybe if there were more folks learning some the basics (even if it's by way of the internet) we wouldn't have some of he problems we have today. I guess I'm saying that you bring through the dignity and respect that make life meaningful. God bless you & yours.

  • @mds19238 Thanks....

  • This is one aspect I can not deal with. I am an animal lover and could not be around animals knowing they are going to be... Well you know. I would go w/out if needed. Ever since. I saw the movie "Carrie" I have not really cared for pigs. I do however eat pork and such. I know, I am silly to let a dumb movie affect me but I have a sensitive soul and stuff like that bad stuff sticks. Yuck. Take care and jeep up the good work.

  • @sassylassy01 Thanks...

  • Wow you got rabbits. I used to raise "Checkered Giants" they were big rabbits up to 50 to 55 lbs. It was my job to raise them and butcher them when I was a boy..

  • You like bacon son? "Sir is a pigs ass pork?!" you betcha...

  • my rabbit was only a year old and she was breed once. i started trying to breed her about 2 months ago but she wouldnt breed for any thing! and i found her dead this morning. =( do you think by her not breeding that iit was a sign that she was going to die?

  • @hellyeahlol2011 I would have no idea, that is strange......So sorry

  • It's probably a good thing I don't raise my own food. There is no way I would be able to butcher those cute lil pigs and rabbits! LOL

  • @ColorMeCrazy7 oh it is not a hard as you think...Thanks!

  • So, could you knit the rabbit fur into angora sweaters to put onto the rabbits in cold weather?

  • @MrBillTroop73 I am sure you could....lol thanks!

  • the bunnies are darling.

  • @baire702 Thank you...

  • Nice Pigs ,cut the boys soon ! Before the flies show up- I just bred my 2does for a march 1st delivery date-I could have had a winter litters as warm as it's been this year ! But hard on bunnies in winter so I skip the 3 coldest months and hope a late freeze spell don't happen in the first 2 weeks of new births ,or high winds strip my hutches of roofs !! I butcher at around 14wks on rabbits and house average 3-4 to a grow out hutch ,they eat better as a group I think, like the pigs, greedy eaters

  • Good video. Thank you for sharing the 'the adventure of life' with all of us. ++ Also, it's good to hear it called manure. A kinder more useful product. But, saying, 'Dang, all this junk around here is piling up quicker than pig-manure.' doesn't express the same disgust.

  • @1023471965 Thank you very much......It is a more kinder word.....

  • LOL, "Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise." Loved to hear that from a true southern person. My Granny used to tell me that all the time. Good looking hogs there.

Love and blessing to you and yours!

  • @TheDaytonDevil Thank you!

  • love the update.

  • @sunshinerinker Thanks!

  • The piggies look cute and yummy at the same time LOL and all the little bunnies. Now can you can those or do you have to freeze the bunny meat? Thanks for sharing!!

  • @CHEECHAKOSMONTANA No doubt...you should have seen the tiny ones...they were so cute the children wanted to keep on as a pet....I told them NO......It just depends on what is going on or how many rabbits I have, I will put these in the freezer, but with a big batch I will can them....Oh it is so good canned and to make pizza with canned rabbit meat....I will fry or bake the ones in the freezer...Thank you, the girls are loving there sweaters....

  • Mmmm......Bacon!!!

  • @ammohead73 Bacon, Bacon, Bacon.......

  • Wonderful!! You're a model of self-sufficiency that is the goal of all preppers! Thank you so much for sharing.

  • @johncap9 Thank you so much!!!

  • Misty another great video - two quick questions (1)if you breed chickens & rabbits, why don't you breed your own pigs? (2)do you all the meat from the pigs or just the major bits? My dad used to tell me stories of my grandfather using the head meat to make head-cheese and such

  • @gingergargoyle Thank you....well it would cost about $500 a yr. to feed a sow and bore, you really do not make much money on raising pigs, and you have to be set up right, so she does not roll around on the babys and well you know....I use all the meat except the head, a lady in the community takes all of them and makes scrappel with them...anothe older cpl come and take all the feet to pickle....she also makes head cheese with the head meat too....

  • Forget going to a "dude ranch" for vacation, I want to go to your homestead for vacation so I can learn all you do. I so wish we lived on property in Montana instead of this match-box community in the desert. I can't even have chickens... so sad.

  • @GrammyTammi Lol thank you!!!

  • They are looking like some good rabbit coming your way! Those are nice pigs, hope they grow up fast and fat like the last ones!

  • @Herbalpagan yes I am happy, we have not had a good liter since we 1st got them....Thank you, I hope they grow nice and fat too.....

  • I would cover up those newborn rabbits with that loose fur...

  • @TheMrsVolfie They were covered up, I had just moved it back so you all could see them, that was actually the 1st good look I had of them.....Thanks!

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom Sorry Hun! I didn't realise it sounded like I was being critical! I wasn't finished commenting but supper started to boil over...LOL! You have beautiful rabbits! I love the pig pen also! We got 2 little piggies..but they are in the old chicken coop right now because we are under over 2 feet of snow..so until April they are in the old coop with a heat lamp! God Bless! Can't WAIT to make bacon and I am going to try ham bring without the pink salt too!

  • @TheMrsVolfie Oh I didn't take it bad, sorry if it came out like that, It was truly the 1st good look i had of them, you could see them much better with the video camra, That is ok sweetie....Thank you, that is good you have some where to keep them, that is alot of snow, we have not had any here this year, well one time it snowed so hard you could not see, but it didn't stick....Good luck with your pigs....God Bless!!!

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom Hi Misty, Thank you for posting the video. It's informative and appreciated.
