I see a soul or spirit as being all the attributes someone has that you can't exactly perceive with your five senses: what others think of you, your personality, accomplishments, attitudes, etc. Those traits even go on after you die.

@ProjectDecade You're right, of course about evolution but this is more about adaptation, the beginning of an evolution perhaps. There are creatures now that will be more acid amune and even some creatures within a family that will have more tolerance and their offspring will be more like them. As more die, only the more resilient ones will mate and so on. Well, besides that, these creatures or similar ones have lived through similar conditions in the earth's past. It's been around a while.
@ProjectDecade I understand your worry about these creatures not only for their own lives but for the way their ultimate deaths could have an effect on the whole ecosystem of the oceans. The best thing to remember is that the earth has had similar atmospheric conditions while these creatures existed and they survived and hopefully they will again until the earth takes another turn and they can return. As I mentioned - the creatures more adept at surviving in acidic water will flourish.

There was a tragic situation recently where a man and woman shot their two kids before shooting themselves all because they were afraid of the effects of global warming. (Their young daughter survived BTW). I know that was very extreme and insane but to do that over something that wasn't even going to happen until their kids are old? Just don't be afraid, take a breath and think.
@ProjectDecade OK, here's the point. When I first hears about global warming, their flawed predictions and theories would have destroyed the world by now... and it's not even all that bad yet. This seems to be a real issue but it's something that needs a lot more study. Through Darwinian means, the more acid resistant ocean creatures will become more prominent as the others become less so. I'm not saying that there's nothing to it. I'm saying to stop and think and don't become reactionary.

Trying to scare people by showing the natural thawing cycle in Antarctica and talking about the low population of polar bears (they have always has low numbers) are just ways to scare people.. apparently so is telling them that the acidity of the ocean is too high... lol. An arguable point - Global warming (or climate change as it's now called) is a God as well. It is an unseen power in the sky that will punish us for our bad behavior. The science on this is very questionable, though I will continue to follow it, as you should as well. What I find very funny is how religious nuts and homosexuals have so much in common. Both use fabricated propaganda in an attempt to win the hearts and/or minds of the people to support them when in reality they just need to be happy with themselves and leave everyone else to their lives. I see a soul or spirit as being all the attributes someone has that you can't exactly perceive with your five senses: what others think of you, your personality, accomplishments, attitudes, etc. Those traits even go on after you die.
I'm aware that the, "five senses," remark could be refined better, but it's not even 6am. I'm not ready for braining activity.

@ProjectDecade You're right, of course about evolution but this is more about adaptation, the beginning of an evolution perhaps. There are creatures now that will be more acid amune and even some creatures within a family that will have more tolerance and their offspring will be more like them. As more die, only the more resilient ones will mate and so on. Well, besides that, these creatures or similar ones have lived through similar conditions in the earth's past. It's been around a while.

@ProjectDecade I understand your worry about these creatures not only for their own lives but for the way their ultimate deaths could have an effect on the whole ecosystem of the oceans. The best thing to remember is that the earth has had similar atmospheric conditions while these creatures existed and they survived and hopefully they will again until the earth takes another turn and they can return. As I mentioned - the creatures more adept at surviving in acidic water will flourish.

There was a tragic situation recently where a man and woman shot their two kids before shooting themselves all because they were afraid of the effects of global warming. (Their young daughter survived BTW). I know that was very extreme and insane but to do that over something that wasn't even going to happen until their kids are old? Just don't be afraid, take a breath and think.

@ProjectDecade OK, here's the point. When I first hears about global warming, their flawed predictions and theories would have destroyed the world by now... and it's not even all that bad yet. This seems to be a real issue but it's something that needs a lot more study. Through Darwinian means, the more acid resistant ocean creatures will become more prominent as the others become less so. I'm not saying that there's nothing to it. I'm saying to stop and think and don't become reactionary.

@ProjectDecade I just don't buy it. "Global Warming/Climate change" science is in its infancy and I think that they are mostly deluded. Trying to scare people by showing the natural thawing cycle in Antarctica and talking about the low population of polar bears (they have always has low numbers) are just ways to scare people.. apparently so is telling them that the acidity of the ocean is too high... lol. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that I am not going to buy into it early.

There is also no way to know if we have caused these changes or they are just part of nature. You say it's horrifying and that's exactly what I was pointing out. An arguable point - Global warming (or climate change as it's now called) is a God as well. It is an unseen power in the sky that will punish us for our bad behavior. The science on this is very questionable, though I will continue to follow it, as you should as well. I am a believer in science but I think "threat" science dealing with things that will "scare" us in some way needs to be looked at HARD. When someone tries to frighten you, they are trying to control you. Global warming FTW!

Anyone who can gleen a positive teaching from a god that commands racism, genocide, slavery & murder is not fit to walk around in free society. Everything is NOT in the eye of beholder. There are truth statements , there are logical absolutes,& there are standards of morality & justice. The Bible fails in these areas.

As for wisdom that i've learned, you can read Proverbs alone and gain as much knowledge as you want. People choose to follow Christ because he stood for Love. i guess that's why they always depict Jesus in paintings lookin like a hippie :)

Think of children born to alcoholic/abusive parents instead. This is what we should be protesting against. That people should end up in such conditions and at least try to help the children (victims) acquire a loving home, wheter the parents are heterosexual or homosexual is a minor point.
