@theguyinthefunnyhat Linux / 2 core/ 3GB RAM / Nvidia 9300 Video . Generally Flightgear can work with even lower specs and yes the new version of flightgear does need opengl.
It depends where you are going actually...Some airports are close by....it can even be 5-15 or 60 minutes and if i am flying from Asia to LA, on Auto pilot mode, it can take 17 hours...so it all depends what's your destination actually
Can somebody help me find an aiport? this airport is in the mountains by a river the runways cuts off just before the edge of the mountain. i flew it once and forgot the name. if yall found it yall would enjoy approaching it. its a cool challenge. THANKS
Or you can click on Location>In air> and change distance to -3 (or however many miles away) and then speed and altitude to whatever, then you will be in approach already!, its good for practising landing.
SIMLA or SHIMLA, India is a mountain top tourist spot in India. It has a airport on it. The airfield does not emit any ILS or VOR sadly and it is intended for small aircrafts and not for Boeing 737/777 or 787..usually small propelled crafts :)
Beginner plane? you could try citation bravo or learjet 35A. It is kinda easier to fly and you can take off/land from short runways too. to find airport, say the runway number to land is 06, then approximately you should head 06X10=160 degrees bearings,,,,,,
Practice...and come in slow (not stall)..plan ahead for approach(not nose dive)..need be go around. To land in ctr of runway, imagine you draw a line vertical on your screen just above the left AP button. Now keep this imaginary line align to the ctr of runway and that will lead you....
what airport is this?

Most package will have a readme file within. All you need to do is copy those files to the specified locations as stated in the readme file...
