In terms of physical aspects, Ma Long had no trouble at all. It was the mental aspects: strategy and tactics, that still gave Schlager a chance, albeit a small one. I've never seen Ma Long so confused on a foreign opponent's serve. Hats off to Schlager for effort and talent.

compared to ma long, and where schlager was 8 years ago, he is quite weak. certainly, as is evidenced by his world ranking of 31, he is still a great table tennis player, and a giant from the recent past, but he didn't trouble ma long here. i did indeed enjoy the match...
Of course Schlager was playing with Ma long.. I don't say Schlager is able to beat Ma but still played for the exhibition. Did you see all the long serves from Schlager bacame easy to smash? He could have made a lot of short seves that would definately make it hard for Ma in the first 2 sets.
Schlager tries hard enough to fool Long in service....but mostly un succesful..

all the fast serve- anticipating the second return, tactics were pretty much analyzed by ma long after the first set
fast serve tactic was really what schlager had.
only tactics like this would not be enough to beat ma long though
