Okay, I must admit I don't particularly like Kara as a person (Blame my idol-watching habits :P), but she IS a pretty talented songwriter and I always hated Ashlee's nasally tone when she sang this, so Kara pretty much just blew her out of the water.
Not only is she an amazing singer, she is also a talented songwriter. She has written some of the best songs performed by some of todays hottests artists. What suprises me is that she perfers to write than cut an album and thats what I love about her. She's willing to write music for others and sing whenever she gets the chance.

Exactly. The industry is all about the money. Kara may not be as famous as any of the artists she writes songs for, but she is probably much wealthier than them. She is amazing. I love her so much.
Kara is a mediocre singer. she can't do all the styles, just like no one else can do them all. Myriah Carey wouldn't sing a rock song bcuz her voice is not for that genre, so Kara is forced to sell her songs off to the Artist that is interested in singing them. By immediately saying that Kara is a mediocre singer, you are implying that Ashlee is better (which anyone with ears will tell you is false). Kara isn't "forced" to sell her songs to anyone. At this point in time she COULD make it in the music industry if she chose to do so but she likes being a songwriter now.

I don't know about this song in particular but I know a lot of the time she writes songs for particular artists. For example when she wrote stuff for Paris Hilton (shudder) she was actually in the studio working with her. From what she's said in interviews, it's a combination of things - yes, it's her job and it's money, but also she just enjoys writing songs and trying to help people out with their music, even if that forces her to work with some of the Paris types in the industry.
@FTWyousuck Gabriat asked why Kara didn't sing the song herself or at least give it to someone with talent and you started going on about styles and age groups and stage presence which doesn't answer his/her question at all, because Ashlee has none of that.

@SamE1iot When it comes to pop music a huge part of breaking out is sheer luck - having the right song at the right time, catching on with the right demographic. She's proven that she's more than talented enough, and if she decided to pursue a singing career I'm sure she would succeed. But at this point in time she is very happy as a writer, she's said in interviews that she doesn't have (or want) the Hollywood lifestyle, and she loves doing what she does. :)

Kara is a mediocre singer. she can't do all the styles, just like no one else can do them all. Myriah Carey wouldn't sing a rock song bcuz her voice is not for that genre, so Kara is forced to sell her songs off to the Artist that is interested in singing them. Ashlee wanted to sing it bcuz it fit her age group at the time
think outside the box, man--- it's not always what it seems. the song has to suite the Artist needs and attitude on stage.

By immediately saying that Kara is a mediocre singer, you are implying that Ashlee is better (which anyone with ears will tell you is false). Kara isn't "forced" to sell her songs to anyone. I don't know about this song in particular but I know a lot of the time she writes songs for particular artists. For example when she wrote stuff for Paris Hilton (shudder) she was actually in the studio working with her. From what she's said in interviews, it's a combination of things - yes, it's her job and it's money, but also she just enjoys writing songs and trying to help people out with their music, even if that forces her to work with some of the Paris types in the industry.

Well, I guess she does have the age group down. But there's obviously more to it since - last I checked - she isn't the only teenage girl to sing pop songs.

She has a very good voice - this is probably one of her worst-sounding because of the setup. There's plenty of clips around that showcase her voice much better. @SamE1iot When it comes to pop music a huge part of breaking out is sheer luck - having the right song at the right time, catching on with the right demographic. She's proven that she's more than talented enough, and if she decided to pursue a singing career I'm sure she would succeed. But at this point in time she is very happy as a writer, she's said in interviews that she doesn't have (or want) the Hollywood lifestyle, and she loves doing what she does. :)
